What’s not to like about this place? First, go UD!!! What a great way to not only instruct but submerge students in the«real world». I wish eating ice cream all day was the real world, but running a business is! The employees there were so friendly and genuinely took pride in their experience as employees at the shop. They knew all about the unique flavors and would let us try any flavor we wanted. They sold cute items such as stuffed animals(I might own one now), shirts, etc… Keep the great work up UD students and school!

If you are stopping to visit the University of Delaware than you have to come to this Creamery! They use milk from the University’s cows to make the ice cream and it is delicious! So many unique flavors! I decided to purchase a pint of the 1923 and the apple cider donut ice cream. I highly recommend! Prices are good too. However, you get one flavor for one scoop. So you cannot get half and half for one scoop, which is what I like to do at other places. The workers are really nice and patient! I had such a hard time deciding what I wanted to order, but the worker was very sweet and allowed me to sample as much as I wanted.

Best Ice cream ever! Seriously, it’s delicious. The portions are large and the prices aren’t bad for the quality. They have an eclectic variety of flavors, I had the cinnamon toast crunchie and my boyfriend had the Udeleche. We both got two scoops and he opted for the waffle cone(which was huge). It was amazing, the waffle cones are made in house with a waffle maker behind the counter. There’s not much space inside to eat in but there are a few picnic tables outside. They also have a freezer with pints and half gallons of ice cream readily available. I will say unless you know what your looking for and where to find it then it’s likely you’ll pass it a few times before arriving, however once you do you’ll be glad you did.

This place is a must. Period. Are you in Delaware? Like, any part of Delaware? Delaware is tiny; you have no excuse. Go eat some ice cream right now. There’s all the old standbys, some flavors I rarely find in Texas(read: berry anything, hooray!), and a ton of creative and seasonal flavors, all of which are try-able before you commit to a full scoop. The ice cream itself is rich and creamy. They’ve pretty much nailed it texture-wise, with maybe only small-batch, super-pricey Yuengling’s beating it out. Plus, it’s run by students. This is by far the best student-run business ever – even more so than the screamy punk radio station I listened to non-stop whenever it was in-range in high school. Stop reading this page. Go. Eat. Ice. Cream.

The service is quick and the workers are often very patient with many requests for samples. The ice cream flavors are many with seasonal twists along with the traditional favorites. They also have decent coffee and select local goods.

Fabulous ice cream with lots of neat and creative flavors. Also, they make their waffle cones on site. It is a small place and can get a little crowded, but they have lots of tables outside.

LOVE the creamery. Always look forward to coming to see my son play Udel hockey so I have an excuse to visit the UDairy Creamery. No matter which flavor I choose, I am never disappointed. I always enjoy being served by the students that run the place and reading the new flavor combinations they have come up with! Seeing the students, families and locals come in for their treats is a treat too! Everyone is so friendly. You can’t get ice cream and not have a smile on your face! I have only«checked in» a couple of times but I have been more than I can count and tried so many flavors I can’t tell you which ones are best. You have to try it for yourself. There are no low fat or sugar free or yogurt or anything like that here. Don’t come if you are worried about that. You are going to get a generous portion of whatever you choose — cup or cone or sundae or shake… ENJOY!

I go out of my way to get there ice cream. Surprised I haven’t gotten a ticket or two racing to get back home before it melts. I got stuck in traffic one time and had to eat the whole pint in the car! You cannot get anymore farm to table than here. The cows are right there. The whole organization is run by the agriculture dept at UD. If you are in the area do yourself a flavor and stop on in.

Excellent ice cream with unique flavors, the cows are on the premises, and the ice cream design /store management are handled by UD students. I have a hard time trekking to Newark without stopping to indulge. Though I have yet to try any flavors I don’t like, my two favorite flavors are: Holy Fluffernutter — Peanut butter ice cream with swirls of marshmallow and chocolate chips. The marshmallow really keeps this ice cream lighter than your typical peanut butter ice cream without losing out on the flavor. Cinnamon Toast Crunchie — Sweet cream ice cream swirled with cinnamon swirls and homemade cinnamon toast crunch pieces. The sweet cream is the perfect base to let the cinnamon star the show. Bonus? It’s affordable. Just $ 2.50 for a «single scoop» that’s really more like two scoops of ice cream. Or, if you’re willing to share, it’s $ 5 for a triple scoop that easily feeds 2 – 3 people.

I went to UDairy Creamery fittingly on National Ice Cream Day. It was somewhat crowded but we only stood in line for about 10 minutes before getting to order. I got a waffle cone with the Twice Twisted and All Nighter flavors and it was absolutely delicious! The waffles are made right behind the counter, and the ice cream is also made on location. Because it was National Ice Cream Day, they also had a kids movie projected on a big screen in the parking lot. 10⁄10 recommend!

Good variety of flavors — both traditional and unique. Peach green tea was delicious. Blue hen tracks could have used more peanut butter cups mixed in, but still yummy. Death by chocolate was very chocolatey and creamy. Ample outdoor seating. Good place for a quick cone or to sit down on a summer night.

When I told someone that my daughter was choosing between UConn and UDel, they said try the ice cream stores run by both schools and decide. Well, we never went to UConn but, if the quality of the ice cream is any indication, UDel is a good school choice. After a long day of touring the campus, we stopped by the UDairy Creamery for some ice cream and milk shakes. There are at least 20 flavors to choose from, all with some very unique names(then again, Death by Chocolate isn’t very unique, but it doesn’t have to be… it’s Death by Chocolate!). I had a salted caramel mocha latte shake which was probably more mocha than salted caramel, but it was nonetheless delicious. They have salted pretzel cones, something you really should try if you get the chance. Service is a wee bit slow, but they are students so please be patient. Plus, it was an incredible day – the first spectacularly warm and sunny one this season – and there was a crowd. The facility has no public bathroom so, if you stopped here before hitting the road back home, please know that the bathroom is in the nearby agriculture school hall and up a flight of stairs.

We were guided here upon the insistence of a friend to avoid the toll fee. It ended up being a great detour. The ice cream is extremely creamy and they have some really interesting flavors. 3 Scoops feeds 3 people. I can’t promise the same flavors, but I can promise that the ice cream will be good regardless of the flavor.

Ice cream made by university of Delaware students. Cream from university cows. Rich and creamy with amazing selection of flavors. I’ve been here 4 – 5 times in the last 3 months. Favorite is Delaware river mud pie. Huge portions, 3 scoops can serve 4 ppl easily. Don’t waste money on individual servings Remember it’s tax free Most importantly, a must if you bypass the I95 toll in Newark. Spend the 4 bucks you save on icecream!

Prices are average and not overly expensive. Selection is good with some interesting choices to try that you won’t find most places. What I thought was strange was that the ingredient lists on their ice creams are a mile long. If you present yourself as a creamery, have a long story on your website about making ice cream from cows on the farm at the university, was I wrong to assume that it was made a simply and naturally as possible? Ingredients List for Cherry Vanilla(from website) Milk, Cream, Sucrose, Cherries(water, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, natural and artificial flavor, potassium sorbate & sodium benzoate), Red#40, & sulfur dioxide), nonfat milk solids, corn syrup, mono and diglycerides, cellulose gum, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, carrageenan. For a gal that has made homemade ice creams before, I was honestly expecting small batches of ice cream with 5 – 7 ingredients. I know some of these additives help keep the freshness longer, but with the crowds they usually have, not sure why they wouldn’t choose smaller more natural batches of ice cream. Just my 0.02 cents.

I came here tonight with my folks for some delicious ice cream. This was my second visit to UDairy creamery – my first was a year ago. Last time, I ordered a single scoop in a sugar cone of the Blue Hen Tracks(vanilla-chocolate swirl with mini peanut butter cups and blue and gold sprinkles) and this time, I ordered a bowl of the Delaware River Mud(chocolate and vanilla ice cream with fudge and brownie bits). My mom ordered the twist flavor(chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream with brownie bits and fudge), and my dad ordered the Peanut Butter Cocoa Loco(double scoop). The ice cream was incredibly thick and rich – some of the best I’ve ever had. I sampled all of the flavors, and while I initially enjoyed the deep, dark flavor of the Cocoa Loco the most at first bite, the subtler blend of flavors in the DE River Mud grew on me as I ate it, such that I ended up liking them both equally. Even though I didn’t enjoy the twist quite as much as those flavors, it was very good in its own right, similar to what I remember of the Blue Hen Tracks. The ice cream here is so wonderful, you can’t go wrong, no matter which flavor you choose! I love the unique and seasonal flavors of ice cream that they serve here, which have differed on both visits. The employees are friendly, and are happy to let you sample them if you’re debating between a few flavors. I also love the focus on sustainability, or «cow to cone,» as they put it, which includes local production from the milk of cows at the university farm and compostable serving implements. Finally, the price is extremely reasonable, at $ 2.50 for a single scoop. If you’re in the mood for ice cream and you’re in the area, there’s no better place to satisfy your craving than this, so stop reading now and go get your fix!
