Good place to pickup food. Items are tasty and it does not take more than 15 mins for takeout. Biryanis are our favorite. The owner takes all the care needed to keep up the quality. Perhaps the only Indian Resturant that may survive in the shopping complex due to returning customers and good food in the long run. If you like tasty non vegetarian food, this is the place to visit. Easy parking access during any time of the day.

I really really love this place. I can only speak for the To-Go experience since I’ve always ordered to go. But this is my go-to for Indian curry and naan. They’re super fast with their orders and I love their curry. It has the right amount of spice and plenty of chicken. I usually get the chicken tiki masala and butter chicken. Their naan is great! I especially love their garlic naan. The people who work here are always really friendly and I am always filled up with just one order of curry and naan. I think when you pay in cash there is a discount, I paid in card last time so I don’t quite remember

Omg! I’m so excited Mumbai Chowk has 4 stars on Unilocal now :) I have read through the negative reviews here and realized Mumbai Chowk really needs to step up their service standards, so customers can enjoy the awesome food they serve! Ordered catering this time for the boy’s birthday, and bam. it was such a hit. Everything was good, from veg and lamb biryanis to chicken tikka(chicken breast kebabs, which I was afraid would taste cold and hard after a few hours — nope it was still delicious af, gently laid on a bed of seasoned onions so the meat doesn’t get soggy, and thoughtfully detached from wooden skewers so that they can be easy finger foods at the party) Thumbs up to Samina, who took care of my nagging calls and texts and walked me through menu items time after time, and even allowed me to do ½ cut-mirchi(fried peppers finger food) and ½ veg pakora(also fried) to diversify the finger foods we got. I thought I ordered too much food for 12 people, but everyone cleaned it out at the end, even the cold vada pavs! Will be back again — not soon enough!

I still love this place as much as when they opened in 2010! I can’t dine here as often as before because unfortunately I no longer work down the street from Mumbai Chowk, but I recommend it whenever friends ask me for suggestions for a good Indian restaurant.

There place had really good food. And their customer service was on point. They even asked to see if we were satisfied with our food and not lot of Indian restaurants really do that. There food was extremely delicious with decent price. And the place looks very hygenic and also tidy. Highly recommend it

Walked into this place in a rush to grab some food, and I was not disappointed. The food was made in less than ten minutes, I was in a rush and the guy at the front understood that. Made the food to my likening, asked for it to be spicy and it definitely had a kick. I got the chicken kurma lunch special and it was heavy. It had Channa, naan, rice and my chicken dish all for ten dollars. That’s an awesome lunch special. I will be going back very soon.

Best vada-paav and dabeli in town! I have been to a number of chaat places in the bay area. This place was a revelation The paani puri is also worthy of mention. Flavorful and delicious. Egg bhurji was definitely a little underwhelming. Nothing wrong with it as such, but I would have liked it better with a little more zing. Ended with samose and bhel puri, both of which were very good. Warm staff, good service. 5 stars overall!

These guys are the absolute best. We visit at least once a week, and this place is like our second kitchen. They know our order and stuff gets cooking as soon as we walk in. :) Today our son turned 5 and as usual we were here to celebrate. The staff and owner Abdul put on a happy birthday song and even came over and sang while giving us some kulfi on the house. The vada paav and baalti paneer are phenomenal, and our son even calls it the baalti paneer restaurant.

I was recommended highly to try out this place but it didn’t live up to our expectations. It was very crowded on Saturday night and I was anxious to try out their menu. We had vada pav, and papdi chat for starters and that didn’t impress us. They were far from what they should be. The pav were over roasted and black on top. Papdi in the chat didn’t seem fresh and chat was no where near original. We had some Hakka noodles and chili chicken both were overpowering with spices. Chicken tikka masala and garlic naan was a flop too. I would recommend the cook to go to Mumbai and get a feel of the original again. Looks like they have lost the touch of authenticity and need to get enlighten again. Highlight however was the Rabdi Kulfi and good service. The ambience it neat and inspite of the crowd gave a good feel

Totally stumbled upon this place, thanks to the pictures on Unilocal, while trying to look up a place for good chaat! The first thing that caught my eye was the décor and I was already half sold on the place. The remaining was done by a picture of good Tandoori Chicken! Trust me if you are a Real Tandoori lover you’ll know what I’m talking about. However popular this Indian dish may be, it’s not at all easy to find a place that makes it right! I’ve been on the hunt for good Tandoori Chicken for a long time, and I would have say that we have a winner!!! Tried a few chaat items, vada pav, tandoori chicken, sukkah mutton, chapati, masoor kheema pulao and masala chai.(Yes took a lot of food back home in boxes ;)) They even had pomfret fry(and bombil fry, which they currently don’t serve) on their menu. They have a very extensive menu and add their signature dishes. Especially if you are from Mumbai or have been to Mumbai and eaten around you’ll be able to identify these. If not, well it’s time you tried them now and experience what you’ve missed out in life so far! There are a few places where they can improve. Could take t up a notch in cleanliness(pretty good already for an Indian place already, but I’m confident they can do better). Masala chai could have more spice. The chutneys could be a little spicier and saltier, so can the pani for the pani puri. The vada pav started off with hitting the palette with some heat but then the rest of the dishes went down on the spice level. May be we should have asked for some spices on the side. But after talking to the owner and learning about the efforts they put into every dish that makes it to the menu,(and they do have a lot on the menu and keep adding more), this place still gets an overall 5 from me. Definitely coming back here again! Hope the Tandoori stays at least the same if not better! :)

The food was amazing. Enjoyed typical Bohri dish called Dabba Ghosh and other authentic Mumbai dishes like vada pav, dabeli, baida roti and the Kashmiri soda to cool the spice. Will definitely come back to try more dishes on the menu.

I liked visiting this place. To start with, they were really good at start; with the right spice levels in all their delicacies. However, recently, their taste has largely deviated from Indian spices levels. Currently while writing this post, we tried their sev batata puri and ragada patties. Both of these items lacked the required spice and salt levels. From Indian spicy food perspective, both items were very bland. When we informed the staff, they added more spice to the dishes, but that was done only by adding additional chilli powder rather than spices. The next order misal paav was even worse. Red curry made purely from red chilli powder and no spices whatsoever. I would never visit this place again. They have destroyed their food quality.

Sigh. I’ve tried so hard to like this place. So. Very. Hard. A few years ago we actually made a catering order for a party here and the food was fantastic. We didn’t get a chance to go back until recently. First time we tried to go back a few weeks ago. There was a wait. Fine. We waited until we were next to receive the next table when another party came in and was seated in the table that was meant for us. They didn’t just walk in and sit down, they were DIRECTED to sit down by a waiter. Um, is our party of 4.5(4 + toddler) invisible? We were waiting for at least 15 minutes. When my husband brought up the issue with the waiter, he kinda shrugged it off. Not sure if he didn’t understand what happened or didn’t wanna deal with it or what, but we just walked out after that. Then a lady came out and chased us down and said that it was their mistake and that our table was ready. They kicked out the party that sat down already so we can have it. Well, that’s a little embarrassing. We felt bad for the party that already sat down, so we said it was alright, but thanked the lady who tried to make it right. Since they were apologetic and tried to make things right for us, we decided we would give them another try. Fast forward a few weeks later… we decided to come back for dinner on a Friday. To our surprise, there was no wait for a table, so we chose to sit at a table in the corner against the wall(it’s better to «trap» my active toddler). I asked for a recommendation for my toddler, who obviously can’t handle spicy food(although he sometimes tries). The waitress recommended this kinda pastry thing stuffed with potatoes. Cool, sounds great. We ordered a few curries, some naan, and tandoori chicken. The curries overall were really good, and so was the naan and chicken. My kid is not a picky eater at all, but he didn’t want any part of the potato thing. I wondered why and took a bite of it. It was SPICY! Definitely wasn’t super spicy, but it’s enough to leave a little burn in your mouth. Thankfully he liked the chicken and we just ordered some more naan for him. I wasn’t happy about being recommended something that was against what I asked for, but we were at least able to work around it, and in the end my son had something to eat so I won’t dwell on that for too long. The worst part is, in the middle of dinner, out of nowhere, a cockroach dropped on my son’s arm. He barely noticed, but I saw it right away. As my husband tried to catch it, it started running up and down the wall until he finally grabbed it with a napkin. WTF? Not cool. Instead of making a big fuss about it(which we absolutely could have), my husband brought the dead bug in the napkin to show the owner quietly in the back. She was, of course, mortified, and thanked him for not making a big fuss. They did the right thing and closed down for the night, not taking anymore customers. She said she called the exterminator and it will get taken care of right away. I’m not saying our meal should have been free, but I think she could have done a little more to make our experience a little bit better. Free dessert? A coupon for a small discount for next time? Guess what… she didn’t even come out to apologize. Nobody apologized. A bug landed on my son’s arm and I was freaking out inside, but hey, that’s cool. Nothing, huh? I think I’ve given Mumbai Chowk enough chances. The last two experiences were lacking, to say the least, and there are a ton of Indian restaurants in the Fremont/Newark area for me to not have to come back here.
