Did you know that Manus offers a Ladies’ Night on Wednesdays? Neither did I… Anywho, I didn’t come here for that. I came for outdoor seating and received great sushi and Portuguese wine instead. I walked in beyond the«indoor patio» and viewed a lovely, trendy spot with ample seating and a well sat bar on the left. Despite the indoor options, I opted to sit outside on this beautifully sunny evening. Ordered the shumai as an appetizer and the Spice Girl Roll for dinner. My partner in meal consumption had the Giant Roll and a bottle of wine for the table. Spice Girl: Spicy tuna, spicy salmon combo with avocado. Very light in the spice department despite the name. Still a very good roll. Either 6 or 8 pieces, very filling. Giant: Never had a fried roll before but after this, will definately have one again. It was so flavorful. The crunchy exterior was a perfect balance to the savory soft texture within. Not greasy at all, which I was fearful of. The wine was great. More mellow than a merlot but still carried the bitter bite. I really enjoyed it. You can never go wrong with shrimp shumai. Sushi in the Ironbound. Manus is a great option. One star was removed because service was kinda slow. Just kinda. At the end of the night, the wait staff was more attentive.

Ok, this is not really a fair review as it’s my first time here, I didn’t get sushi, and I got it to go, but I’m willing to give this place another chance, but man, talk about screw up for a first time order. I went in with intentions of getting sushi, but saw this on their menu and said oh yea, I want that for lunch: Tapas Cold & dry plate: Prosciutto, manchego cheese, black figs, pickles, olives & ciabatta I love everything about that. This is what I got instead(and didn’t know until I got back to my desk): Prosciutto, manchego cheese, black figs, pickles, tomatoes, grapes, lettuce & ciabatta While it was a generous size, WHEREARETHEOLIVES!!! It was really disappointing but I was craving the prosciutto, cheese and olives together! Did they run out of olives? Nothing was said to me so I guess they compensated with a ton of tomatoes and grapes? Pretty messed up in my opinion.

Best Asian food in the ironbound! Beautiful place; came with a large group and we were seated on the second floor. Great staff– there was even someone playing live music! I got the tuna tataki which was very flavorful and tender– I could tell they used fresh and high quality ingredients.

Came in for a pre Devils game drink and bite and was pretty satisfied. Prices are a little steep, but you get what you pay for with ambiance and quality. $ 10 for 2 big sliders with grilled red onions, tasty beef, and a teeny bit of pancetta. I was thrown off by $ 7 sweet potato fries but there are a lot of them. The catch: they’re thick cut like steak fries, essentially tempura sweet potatoes. Not terrible, but not crispy like you’d expect from fries. Sat at the bar and service was fine. $ 15 strong pitcher of sangria. I’ll return for the«date night» ambiance and great music playlist they had on.

I loooove sushi and am always looking to try new sushi restaurants. I have passed this place so many times and finally decided to try it. I started off with a vodka soda. The fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil salad was good. I tried the shrimp dumplings but they were too fishy for my taste. I had the NY roll which was smoked salmon, cream cheese and apples. Unique and good. I also had a spicy tuna roll. Nothing to brag about. Basic sushi restaurant a go to if in the area but wouldnt to out of my way to come here.

So I like how some of my friends being here before but never told me about it. I stumbled on it on a walk looking for a nail clipper Now, as for the spot itself very cozy quiet low key. Now the food to me was moderately priced very fresh and the chefs obviously take pride in the culinary appearance of their dishes. Take a look at my pics and you’ll see what I’m talking about everything that I ordered was above average so I’ll definitely be back. Service was a tad bit slow and I would not like to see what it looks like on a day when it is busy but still the service was friendly.

Wow, things have changed over here. This used to be my favorite spot in my hometown. But, after my experience for dinner today, I don’t think I’ll be returning. I been coming here since they opened. The food is average at best but the place is nice and cozy and a nice alternative to the Portuguese dining in the area. Well what a surprise i was in for recently. The Sunday Specials, half price sushi. what a joke. They started charging gratuity on to the bill and it totally defeats the purpose of the ½ price specials. My bill for two ½ price sushi plates and a glass of wine came to $ 23. with the added gratuity.$ 7 that = a big RIPOFF. $ 23 and my tip would have been fine. Hey Manu’s, wake up!!! Just look all the negative reviews on here. Stick with the regular Portuguese dining in the area, What this place and Mompou down the street need is more competition on Ferry Street, until then it should be avoided.

The lunch specials are good but otherwise the sushi is terribly overpriced. I have not tried their other food but it all seems pricey.

Came here Monday night for Sushi and was very surprised at how expensive they were. Sushi was average definitely not worth what they were charging I had to give it a try. Outdoor seating was nice however this place did nothing for me but leave me wondering why I didn’t stick with my initial choice of Ferry Street BBQ across the street, they had all the business and their line was out the door, I guess everyone knows where the better food is. I likely will not return.

This place sucks — I came in tonight– place was empty. That should have been my first clue. I food– and 44 mins later .the food was no where to be found *scratches head*…where can it be? Oh we forgot to put it in the system. Dude… its 8 pm… and you only have 2 other customers… get it together…

After going with my wife, who happens to love this place for drinks and the sushi was being force to pay 18% gratitude of a nonderserving service. Then kicked out for refusing to pay after I made my argument.

I Love this place! I’ve been coming here for 5+ years and it gets better with time. Manu’s is very reasonably priced, they offer great food, and make a kick-ass Sangria. Try the Monkey balls as a starter and an Iron Bound Roll to follow. The Caramel Apple martini is delicious around the Fall time.

Good food, AWFUL business practice. Came for half off specialty roll sushi Sunday’s. Rolls came out to about $ 9 each. Later on they tacked on 18% gratuity, which I have no problem for if the service was good. Worse, they charge 18% gratuity on the roll BEFORE discount. So they charge 18% on two specialty rolls ~36 $. So after crunching the numbers you end up saving about 25% off the specialty roll instead of half off, which is still good, but terrible business practice. Any way to make your money back on happy hour I guess! Would have been much happier telling me Sunday’s were 25% off rolls and allowing me to leave a nicer tip.

Great local place to enjoy good sushi and great drinks. Located on Ferry St in the Ironbound section of Newark, there is nothing else like it that I am aware of. The atmosphere is awesome, with a young vibrant working class crowd. A must visit if your in the downtown area! Located minutes from the Prudential Arena, Red Bulls stadium and Penn Station this place is a must visit!

Let’s get to the food and drink experience, I had the chicken teriyaki and a lime caipirinha. The chicken teriyaki was savory, sauteed with fresh veggies, peppers, onions, came with rice, by far very good, quite tasty. The drink on the other hand was way too strong. As soon as I explained to the waiter, about the awful concoction, he was flabbergasted, and said that its meant to be strong. After brief exchange of gentle words, they toned the high alcohol content and I felt happy. The service is a hit or miss, at times I needed to get the waiters attention. This place is cool, and I recommend it.
