Awesome place, friendly service, great vibe and a good place to work. I’m here on Tuesday at 4pm and they are unexpectedly closed :-/

This is a cute little café right in the heart of Newark. Next to both NJIT and Newark Rutgers campuses. You can get your sugar fix with their baked goods or get some bubble tea or a coffee on your way to class. They also have a little Lounge area where kids hop on the Wi-Fi. there are board games to enjoy while chatting with friends. This is similar to a Starbucks but has more of a cozy, home environment which I really dig.

Their bubble tea is not my favorite. Their tapioca is sometimes undercooked and in result, is too hard. I’ve had better bubble tea in the city. It’s just okay because of its convenience. Also, the order takes forever because it’s mostly college students working there.

Intrinsic used to be one of the few places to get boba in Newark. It caters to the college students in the area, but it was my go-to when I worked in the area. I’d go there for a pick-me-up.(Hey, sometimes when you’re having a rough day at work, a bubble tea is all you need). Intrinsic is a very chill spot. You’ll see students seated with the books and laptops, or students just hanging out. It’s not very loud for the most part. You can get hot teas, bubble teas, and some light food options. There is also hookah outside when the weather is warm. It’s a nice place for students and where boba addicts like me can get a fix.

I love intrinsic. Probably the thing I miss most about Newark. The food is amazing(and literally homemade), and the bubble tea is BOMB. They’re also one of the few places I’ve gotten bubble tea that have the fruit bubbles as an option since I’m not a fan of tapioca. Fro-yo places have these bubbles as toppings for their frozen yogurt. They let you mix the bubble flavors — so I get mango and passion fruit with strawberry mango bubble tea. It’s so good. I remember when they first opened. I love how popular they’ve become. It’s also super convenient for students that go to either Rutgers or NJIT since it’s right there off MLK. The ambiance is very homey, and they have board games to play!

Wow! Delicious coffee, croissants, super cute spot & the friendliest staff! I absolutely loved this place. I was in town for the day & needed to kill time, so based on Unilocal reviews I stumbled upon it & everyone’s positive comments were 100% accurate. It’s also a great coffee shop for bringing your laptop & getting work done. Thanks guys for your great service; hope to visit again soon! :) PS: totally recommend the Passion Fruit bubble tea!

My favorite place to get bubble tea around the area. It’s also right next to both NJIT and Rutgers. Staffs are super friendly, and the atmosphere of the place itself is relaxing. Possibily has the best boba around the campus area, and bring a friend over or two for some board game.

Although I haven’t a clue where else to find bubble tea in the area, I come to Intrinsic because it’s an awesome experience rather than because there’s nowhere else to go. Great vibe, awesome staff and delicious food. It’s all good.

I love this place– the staff are super friendly and accommodating. The drinks are decently priced and everything I’ve had tastes great, and I’m kind of a bubble tea snob(having lived in Seattle for so long). One thing I noticed is that the milk teas are very sweet, so if you’re not much of a sugary drink fan I suggest asking for ½ sugar(which they’re always willing to do).

Intrinsic is where I tried my first ever bubble tea and it was AWESOME. It was so good that I was forced to come here whenever I would crave bubble tea. I love their special deals especially the Friday special. I just wish they wouldnt close that early on weekdays! But a perfect spot to relax and have a tea party with friends!

To my surprise, they were able to do jasmine tea(freshly brewed) with fresh(real) milk for me instead the powder milk! :-)) I asked for iced jasmine milk tea with extra bubbles!!! Large $ 3 included tax:-)) super friendly staff, Manny was simply awesome !

I love this place. It’s right off the NJIT and Rutgers campus, so the place is always full of college kids. I’m a student at NJIT so I enjoy the younger crowd and familiarizing myself with other students. Intrinsic is a great place to get some bubble tea or other drinks. I usually get mango bubble tea, but I’ve tried their teas and juices in other fruit flavors. I’ve never had it, but I heard their taro tea is good. A few of my college friends had never had boba tea before, but they seemed to have liked sips of my drinks from Intrinsic! Other than drinks, I’ve tried one of their sandwiches before and it was fine, but nothing special. They offer some fun deals throughout the week like 2 for $ 5 Friday’s and Greek Monday’s(Wear your Greek letters and get a discount, something like that) to name a few. They also offer additional hot drinks in the winter time. The café itself is really cute. When you walk in there’s a chalkboard wall that is usually covered in something amusing. It’s has a really laid back feeling and there are also board games you can play! There’s a seating area in the back, which is also really nice.

My favorite thing about this place is the atmosphere. Lots of college students from Rutgers and NJIT frequently come here. I know most of the staff and they’re all very friendly and nice people. The coffee here is definitely a MUCH better alternative to the fake Starbucks on NJIT’s campus. Even if it were real I don’t care much for Starbucks anyway, but that’s besides the point. The bubble tea is pretty good too, although I am not much of an expert on what makes a good bubble tea. I usually just ask them to suggest a mix of flavors and that’s turned out good so far. As far as the food, I’ve only really had the croissants and bagels. They’re always pretty fresh and tasty. My only complaint about this place is that during the school semester it can get very crowded and loud.

I love Intrinsic — I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet! With all the bubble tea, smoothie, and drink options, hot or cold, and cool lunches with croissant(homemade!) sandwiches or onigiri, you’ll never be bored here. It’s the quintessential café that University Heights needs next door to the Chinese place that many just deal with. The folks at Intrinsic are amazing — they’re one of the main reasons I keep coming back. It’s a great place to hang out, meet up with others, or to just get some studying done.

An interesting, albeit unassuming, place to eat. Very friendly staff, but it can get very busy and VERY loud at times. A wide menu of choices can seem daunting, but the workers help you pick the best drink combo for you. Sandwiches and lunch specials are delicious and made to order. New things pop up all the time and it’s a very interesting atmosphere. Hooka in the back for those who are interested. Outside seating as well with lighting makes late spring evenings Magical. A great place to go with friends or grab something yourself to go. Very much aimed at college-students but it’s family friendly for all ages.
