AVOIDTHISPLACE!!! I’m giving this place a 1 star review because 0 stars is not possible. This is probably the worst restaurant in New Rochelle. This place will likely go out of business in the near future(just like the Red Room that occupied this location before it and failed miserably). My fiancé and I took our best friends out for dinner here on a Friday night around 8pm. When we got there the bar was empty and the dining area wasn’t much busier. Only 3 tables were filled. The one up side of this place is that the servers are friendly. Now for the all the negatives. Of the 4 of us, only 1 of us had what can be considered a decent meal and even that is being generous. The appetizers were disgusting and I found a hair in mine. There was a seafood plate called jalea that I tried for my entrée. The portion size was huge, but it was all overly fried seafood and ultimately despite the fact I had very little to eat all day I couldn’t eat even half the plate. Both of our friends ordered steak, one came out as ordered(Medium). Taste was okay but nothing special. Unforunately, the other steak came out wrong not once, but twice. My friend ordered her steak medium rare. It came out well done. She sent it back and they cooked another steak for her but this one came out BLUE. You only serve a steak blue upon customer request and I would never order a steak blue from this type of place. The cook clearly didn’t know how to cook a steak. Now, given that the cook had messed up twice you think the owner or manager would do something as a courtesy to us for the inconvenience or at least apologize for the repeated error. This did not happen. We requested to speak to the manager and was told she wasn’t working today. Our server said the owner was there, but she only spoke Spanish. She must have been hiding in the back of the restaurant because we only saw the waitstaff during our entire time there. Given none of us were fluent enough in Spanish to get our complaint across about the food, we deemed this a lost cause. Also, we requested a replacement dish since the two steaks came out so badly, and we were told the owner would not allow us to get a different plate since we were using a groupon deal. The idea of a Groupon is to get your customer to come back again, but this owner clearly doesn’t understand that. Being thoroughly disgusted with the food, we decided to cut our losses and not have the 4 desserts that included in the Groupon deal. We instead asked for 2 of them to go and took the check for the taxes on the Groupon and the one drink my friend had. My fiancé did venture to eat one of the desserts(I wouldn’t have given how the rest of the food had been prepared), and said it was good, but it seemed like it was most likely store bought rather than freshly made. Another sign this place will not succeed. I’d like to note that the server did try his best and apologized for the multiple errors and poorly cooked food. We told him we weren’t holding that against him, but added that there was no chance we would be coming back after how bad the experience was. 0STARS. AVOIDATALLCOSTS. SPENDYOURMONEYELSEWHERE!!! New rochelle has plenty of good restaurant options(a number of them are within a mile of this place) and this place simply doesn’t measure up.

please do not go here!!! was there on 2÷12÷16… it was horrible !!! the rating for this restaurant should be negative stars an a lot of them… the waitress sucks… food sucks… the place had no heat and the bartender sucks she has no idea of how to make a drink. restaurant owners like this should not be allowed to operate a business. owners should always be mindful of serving the public well… after all eating out is not cheap.

I went to Olibar on Valentine’s Day with my family. Their food was great. Everyone enjoyed the food. However, the service sucked. We had the worst waitress. We were a group of 6 so 15% gratuity was included. Maybe that’s why she had a nasty attitude. This was the 5th time at Olibar. The last time we enjoyed it so much, the service was great even the owner introduced herself. We stopped going to other Peruvian restaurants in portchester due to the bad service provided. The waitress answered in a bad tone, never smiled and just had an attitude. Every time we asked for more water, napkins and ahi she would give us attitude. She never asked how was everything not even once and even charged us for 2 ajis and not mentioned it before. The problem is not that we had to pay, the fact that we weren’t told is what bother me. Especially when my sister had asked for avocado and the server told us about an extra charge(Peruvian restaurants give the customer free aji all the time, we are well known for the love for spicy aji sauce even the restaurant Misti gives you a small jar of aji) Overall, we love the food but the service sucked. Hopefully when we go next time we won’t have to see that nasty waitress ever again.

Everything we had was great — and we had a lot! The problem was the waitress. From what I could see, she was the only server in the entire place. Luckily, it wasn’t busy. She didn’t speak English well so it was on faith that a couple special requests were met, but they were. The biggest problem was that she didn’t give us adequate time to look through the menu, instead she stood over us and tried to tell us what she thought was good. It wasn’t helpful and was highly uncomfortable. She was very nice, but didn’t quite know how to wait on tables. The décor is okay. There’s a long red wall with lots of TVs. During our meal, some type of martial arts was on TV and one of the wrestlers had blood all over him, so that was hard to see multiplied over several screens ! We asked them to please change the channel. Cost was okay. We had a Groupon. Despite the problems, we will be back because the food was so good.

I really like the idea of being able to order Peruvian near by and right off Unilocal.I ordered on a Wednesday evening at around 7:15 and the food came right before 8(awesome). I ordered papa a la huacaina and choritos A la chalaca. my boyfriend ordered a lomo saltado. I honestly can’t complain it was all pretty good… the only thing that I didn’t like was that the Choritos a la Chalaca were in plastic shot glasses pretty much… it made me question if they were fresh and made me uneasy to even try them… I ended up trying one and it did taste fine but I don’t want to feel like I’m taking a gamble with seafood. The rest of the food was fine and it arrived quickly so I will most likely order again.

Was hesitant after reading previous reviews but service and food were both great. Had causa marina(mashed potato cake) and mussels for appetizers, marisco saltado and fish(croaker) ceviche for mains. Everything was really tasty and ceviche was perfect. They let me taste the wine I was interested in before ordering a glass. Looking forward to coming back.

I ordered on a Tuesday to have good delivered 0.5 miles. It took 1.2 hours, the driver told me it was far away? 0.5 miles Humm. But the cerviche was a definite 5. I thought I would try another time, because well the food was awesome. Just service –3. So I ordered delivery again, it only too 40 minutes that was great but they totally brought me the wrong food. I ordered arroz con mariscos and got fried seafood. Red Rice n saluted seafood and got fried seafood not even close. Will try another Peruvian restaurant.

I went by for dinner on Sunday 8÷30÷15. Located on Main Street in New Rochelle parking could be a little problematic but I was able to find a spot very close to the restaurant. Otherwise you have to park in Municipal Parking which is off Main Street. To begin with I had a Yuca a la Huancaina which was enough for two people. I like the sauce, very well made especially since they use the original«aji amarillo» for it and not Tumeric as many other restaurants do. Tacu Tacu con Lomo was very delicious, good quality meat, no fat, the meat was very tender. Tasty dish. Pollo a la Brasa had a great flavor and juicy. So, the food was great. I will definitely go back. Now for the second part. They need to add more people to their waiting staff. Only two young girls working the tables. Greeting, setting up, retrieving empty dishes, taking orders back and forth, bringing dishes and drinks to the tables. Overwhelming for two people. They were so busy that they didn’t have time to come back to our table and ask if everything was alright or if we needed anything else. Also, it looks that they need extra help in the kitchen since the waiting time for the orders to come out take a long time. Above all I’ll give them 3 star rating for the food. I will return, hopefully more people have been added to the staff.

I am giving this place a 1 star only for the fact that you have to give something… anything… Not really sure where to begin… i am sorry it is going to be a long review but trust me Do NOTCOMEHERE! I REPEATDONOCOMETOEATINTHISPLACE!!! I guess i will start by saying that when my family and myself arrived the place wasnt busy and yet we had to wait at least 10 minutes to be seated because the empty tables were durty… (It was 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 kids) when we finally sat down they gave us the last tables next to the bathrooms and the smell wasn’t pleasant. We were starving and in the area so we already had an idea set in mind on what we wanted to order and we told the waitress(if that is what i should call her, ANGELICA i believe was her name… it was on the check) That we were ready to give her our order and she interrupted by saying she was going to bring us the drinks first and then come back to take our order… mind you I am also a server and if a customer tells me that they are ready why should I wait, you kill two birds with one stone and make your life so much easier. But ok, we ordered 5 glasses of water and 3 inca colas. She came back with the sodas– NO waters and with 3 little pieces of bread 2 butters(remember that it was 5 of us). NO forks NO knifes, NO plates. NO napkins. We brought it to her attention and she was running around for no reason because there was 2 waitress plus the owner or someine helping them, she never brought them. When she finally took our order as appetizer we ordered a jalea convo with ceviche and a causa rellena and for entrees we ordered 2 secos and a pollo a la braza. More than 40 minutes waiting for the food we finally asked if the appetizers were coming and she just said yes the food is coming right out. When she comes out of the kitchen… she brings the 2 secos that were for my dad and for my self and my mother and kids get NO food. I told her if the jalea wasnt ready to cancel it because the food was already on the table… the lady said she couldnt cancel it because it was already being served on the plate… my dad asked her what else we had coming(referring to the chicken) and she said we were all set and sorry but she was going to cancel the jale because it was for the other table… and i both mydad and i said ahe couldnt be out of chicken because that was my mother’s entrée to share with the kids. She dared to ask if we ordered it!!! She left and we didnt even know if my mom was going to get her food or not! Another waitress came and told us sorry but the lady had mixed her orders and the jale was for another table… i guess they cancelled the chicken from another table because she had told us they were all out but somehow 30 minutes later but we got it… still never got any water… when we were finished with the meal… because we were starving!!! She took one plate and asked if we would like the check … or any dessert. my mother said NO because otherwise it was a nother day and we would get it for breakfast the lady laughted as if it was a joke and said maybe next time. we all said… THEREWILLBENONEXTTIMESERVICEWASHORRIBLE and she didnt even have a cutesy to say«im sorry for the delay» …“sorry for the inconvenience”… NOTHING… FROMNOBODY! we were all completely DISGUSTED with the service… WORST service ever!!! I am ashamed that she would be concidered a server… the food wasnt as bad and if it wouldnt have been for the service i would actually probably concider it a take out… but the $ 60 we payed were NOT worth it at all… WORSTSUNDAYDINNEREVER!!!

1. Took forever to bring the food. 2. Waiter never ask if everything was ok. 3. Chicha drinks tasted too watery. 4. Huancaina sauce tasted nothing like it. 5. By the time food was on the table, it was already cold. 6. Steak was REALLYPLAIN. 7. Parrillada presentation look horrible too much meat for that little plate. 8. The worse was the salad that came with the Parrilada, I will posted the picture and you’ll see the vegetables are OLD very OLD. NOBUENO and do not recomend this place at all.

This is a really big restuarant with TV“s set up along the walls. The space is relatively open and inviting. I went by on a weeknight and the place was completely empty. I called in my order and it was ready when I dropped by about 15 minutes later. The pollo a la brasa and the maduros were excellent. They served it up with white rice and a salad. They seem to serve a different Aji sauce from the rest of their competition in the area. It was a yellowish/orangish color instead of your typical bright green. It was tasty but left a bit to be desired. Offer the green Aji sauce and I’ll definitely be back! Pricing and service was excellent. They also accept credit cards.

Wow! Causa de camarones was zesty! The yuca la huancaina appetizer eas memorable. This spot Just opened up but if they keep putting out great dishes like this they will stand out in the sea of great eateries in New Rochelle. My date seems happy with the ceviche. My fries and pescado dish(lomo saltado) which the dish made specially for me because it’s only typically made with steak was a tad salty for my liking but tasty non the less. Non the less great service to match the great tasting dishes. Will visit again. Can’t imagine this good will taste much better in Peru. Can’t wait to visit.
