Love JoAnn and her staff. Always right, always cheerful.

It’s like any other Starbucks. Not much to say, you either like Starbucks or you don’t. Nice and big, parking is a nightmare but that’s just new paltz.

I like my local Starbucks. Diane, the manager is a real sweetheart. Always neat and clean. If you come after 7:30 a.m. there will be a long line ;) All espresso drinks in New Paltz are about the same price, but Starbucks gives you more in a tall(small) than the independently owned shops. Street parking only(charges between 9 — 5).

Great place! The staff there wasn’t rude to me at all, in fact I recognized him from my job, I rang him out before — other than that my drink was prepared perfectly and the place was spotless when I walked in. I’ve yet to try other coffee places in the area but this is one of the better Starbucks I’ve been to.

Every time I visit New Paltz, I look for the best coffee in town. While there are certainly other spots to find coffee or an espresso, I think these are the most obvious choices: 1) Lagusta’s Luscious 2) Hudson Coffee Traders 3) Mudd Puddle 4) Moxie Cup 5) Starbucks 6) Cafeteria While I normally wouldn’t include Starbucks on such a list, there’s at least one reason I feel the need to: they are the only coffee establishment in town(as far as I know) serving a true«cold brew.» Cold brewing is a low-temperature, slow extraction method, that creates a much different flavor and body of coffee than simply chilling hot-brewed coffee. Other than this, this is a standard Starbucks with all the same accoutrements you’re used to, including hit-or-miss baristas /customer service. If you’re from out of town and visiting New Paltz, please try something a little different, and support one of the locally owned businesses instead. CORRECTION: Lagusta’s is doing an exceptional cold brew AND a nitrogenated cold brew coffee.

Went here and it wasn’t that busy. The barista acted as though he was inconvenienced by us being there. The coffee I got was luke warm. He gave us the hot chocolate ordered saying in an unenthusiastic tone«hot chocolates.» And put them on the counter. No have a nice day. No smile… But all bad attitude. You are being paid to be there! Be nice to the customers, at least act like you want to be there. Management needs to work with the staff on appropriate attitudes at the work place. It reflects poorly on the business.

Plenty of people like to steal the chairs(for hours) but the place is great, clean, and the staff is excellent.

C’mon guys, you can do better. This is New Paltz. There are going to be a number of cafes, coffeehouses, etc., competing with you for your business. So it didn’t help to forget my order. And when someone finally asked on what I was waiting, a reply of «Somewhere the cup was missed» wasn’t really that great a reply, and it was passive, meaning avoiding announcing that someone screwed up. There weren’t that many customers in at the time, and there were 4 of you behind the counter, though 2 of you were yakking. The setup is nice. The seating, both indoors and outdoors, is comfortable. You’re in a prime location in town, at a major intersection. Do you really want to blow it with mediocre customer service?

I’ve been going here since I was in college, and it has always been a good Starbucks. I’m spoiled because I’m used to city Starbucks where they move much quicker, but as long as my drink comes out right, I’m a happy camper. The staff has always been pleasant, and they keep the store looking clean and organized. The place is always packed with families or students studying, so it’s nice to see what a hub of interaction this location is.

I walked into Starbucks this afternoon, then walked right out. There were two baristas, a male & a female, chatting it up and looking rather secretive by the espresso maker while glaring at the customers in line. There was a third person behind the counter, who took his sweet time coming up to help one of the customers in line ahead of me, looking like he was doing us a big favor by gracing us with his presence. This is one of many times I have walked into this Starbucks only to be greeted with unprofessional behavior and snarky customer service, and not the first time I have walked in only to immediately turn around and walk out without ordering anything. Customer service does not have to be overly friendly & I’m not expecting the baristas here to fall all over themselves to help those of us who need coffee, but at the very least, customers should not feel so uncomfortable at the idea of ordering a drink here that they turn around and leave. There are people who work here who seem to care a little bit more about doing their jobs well, but I guess more often than not, I wind up here when the baristas who don’t give a crap about providing minimal customer service are scheduled. From now on, I will go to Cafeteria or The Bakery if in New Paltz and in need of coffee.

I’ve read some of the previous reviews, and can’t say I’ve had too many problems here lately. The one employee who used to work here who had a quick trigger finger for calling cops on people has been gone for a while. She threw me out twice, under that threat, and I discovered that others had the same treatment. Don’t ask why, because it was total bs. In any case, I always get the dark roast of the day, and at 5pm, after I get out of work, it is a much needed pickup. In addition, it’s quite the social hangout, and I have had numerous conversations here. The Wi-Fi is great, and the music is decent too, although the few attempts at live music were not that successful. The acoustics in there are not good(very high ceiling, solid surfaces, no damping on floor or walls, too much echo quality). About the coffee– I stay away from the«blond» roast, as it doesn’t taste like anything(blond=bland), and I don’t drink Pike Place either(so-called Puke Place). I wish Starbucks had more varietal(single-origin) coffees for sale. They’ve gone more into the«blend» direction unfortunately. See my review for Monkey Joe’s in Kingston, an exceptional coffee roaster. Occasionally I’ll get a fancier drink here at Starbucks, and they do them well, but the cost is a factor, and the nutritional aspects can get scary. If you ever want to do that research, they do have a pamphlet which details this info. Most of the employees at this location are very friendly, and I’ve gotten to know a couple of them. They’ve never screwed up any drinks, but then again, it’s hard to mess up a cup of coffee. All coffee is fresh, as it is replaced every half hour. In short, I’m there almost any weekday, and depend on them for that daily coffee jolt. I also buy beans from them too, for our morning drink before work. While there has been criticism of Starbucks on economic/political grounds, I’m glad they exist. And yes, the outdoor seating is back!

I have been going to this location since it opened. I hardly order anything other than an iced tea or hot cocoa, which I don’t find to be a difficult order. Last week I had to pick up a few drinks for coworkers, and thankfully I was the only one in line. I apologized in advance for them having to make 4 drinks(not that I really had to) and was met with a glazed-over expression. I get that it was mid-afternoon and the guy was probably tired, but liven up a little! In the middle of my order I glanced up at the menu board for a second and when I looked back at the cashier, he had his phone out. I was speechless. Not only that, but two drinks were wrong. I know that a lot of people go here and I’ve always been a loyal customer, but it’s disappointing when the workers could care less about the person they’re serving.

I don’t have high expectations for Starbucks, but was walking by and thought I’d drop in for a quick cup as I was headed to my next stop. The barista had botched the order of the customer and in front of me, but she graciously took what she got and left. I was topping off my americano and discovered the cream pitcher was nearly empty. Handed it over the barista who replied«there is still some left» and he handed it back to me! I poured the small bit of remaining cream into my americano and then the barista says«do you need more?» … Shish! Be like the barista and don’t bother.

This place needs to get it together. I enjoy Starbucks coffee but this location is almost painful to visit. The morning manager is rough! Forget any chance of having a quiet, peaceful experience. The manager barks daily at the staff and is rude when spoken too. They have some issue with putting the milk out first thing in the morning, which I can’t figure out. Every day you must ask for the milk and then wait for the staff to retrieve it. Don’t bother with the side entrance, its usually still locked a half hour after the store opens and the outdoor chairs are still stacked. Pastries are often stale– I will not order any, coffee only. Somehow I think the location would be better served without her.

Worst experience ever at the HMSHOST Starbuck location on the NYS Thruway in Plattekill. Beside the staff arguing in front of the customers our treatment was disrespectful. Management needs to pay more attention to their employees behavior especially as it relates to their customers. When we approached the counter no one was before us. We ordered and then three others came behind us. We were the last to be served and then when we asked about our order the person behind the counter was snide. Fortunately for Starbucks this is a Thruways stop as people are captive… maybe.

Usually, Muddycup is very crowded so you have a better chance of finding a seat here. Baristas are friendly and nice. It does lack outside seating.

This place makes the already amazing New Paltz even better. Nothing like grabbing a hot cup of something before strolling the streets during a winter’s snowfall. The corner location makes it extremely spacious as well.

It’s very clean here, the only Starbucks in the little town of New Paltz. It’s close to everything, right on Main Street on the corner. When I’m done with my business classes in Van Den Berg Hall, I walk down to Starbucks to sit and relax with my Free wifi. The atmosphere is soothing, unlike crowded Starbucks in the city. The baristas are extremely nice, they like to converse! Although this is a chain franchise, its still definitely different than Starbucks in NYC.
