The store itself is cute however, the service is terrible, we sat there waiting for 20 minutes for two cups of soup. I would understand if they made the soup from scratch to order but the soup was already prepped. The soup was held at room temp behind the counter in plastic bins(I’m probably going to be sick tonight), the coffee was watered down as well as burnt tasting and their cookies were stale.

Very cute coffee shop. Went in to grab a chai tea latte and it was LACKING. Tea bag was still inside? And no flavor. They were busy and possibly made this very fast

People taking orders seemed a little unorganized. Waited awhile for my latte, I’m not exaggerating when I say probably 13+ people after me got their drinks before me. It got to the point where I was awkwardly standing there wondering if I should ask the girl if they forgot about my drink. Finally got the caramel marshmallow latte and it was pretty damn tasty. A good amount of marshmallows on top and the caffeine woke me right up. Place is small and I wish they had more seating inside because It was cold outside. A little pricey too a small latte was $ 4 – 5.

The best coffee in town! Love going to MP. I’ve been frequenting the café since Michelle & James opened it. First when my kids were babies for story time and to meet with other new moms and now with my teens to meet with their friends or mine for the best coffee and egg paninis in town!!!

Delicious wraps in a cute setting. A little cramped and crowded, however. I ordered the tuna melt wrap and choose to sit outside. The food took a little longer tab expected to come out but everything is made fresh so I guess I shouldn’t complain. It was delicious! Every sandwich comes with a choice of side and I appreciated their unique selections rather than the usual cole slaw/potato salad/pickle that most places offer. I got the cucumber dill salad. It was yummy and refreshing on the unusually hot September day. The coffee here is great, which is to be expected since they roast their own beans. Delish. After eating I wasn’t sure if I should leave my plate or take it inside, since the outdoor tables were not only for this café. I opted to bring in my plates and the employees thanked me and told me to just dump it in the dish cart.

Good coffee, attitude at no extra charge. Honestly the drinks menu is fine and the coffee was fine but I don’t understand the poor attitude from the staff. Employees at some of the best coffee bars in NYC and SF are nothing but friendly, I don’t see anything so unpleasant about the job to warrant this. Anyway espresso drinks are done well. If you have thicker skin YMMV.

Great coffee, great bagels. Great atmosphere. Oh and fresh chocolate chip cookies straight outta the oven for 50 cents! And right next to the Walkill Valley Rail Trail and tons of shopping.

Every time I visit New Paltz, I look for the best coffee in town. While there are certainly other spots to find coffee or an espresso, I think these are the most obvious choices: 1) Lagusta’s Luscious 2) Hudson Coffee Traders 3) Mudd Puddle 4) Moxie Cup 5) Starbucks 6) Cafeteria Mudd Puddle clearly wins on location and ambiance. I love the crunchy vibe inside, and Water Street is a real gem. I also think the food is good, although it is notoriously slow coming out. If you’re not up for spending an hour or two enjoying the scene here, you may be frustrated. Indoor seating is minimal, but if the weather is nice, the outdoor tables are quite lovely, and there is free wi-fi. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. Try driving all the way to the top of the lot, behind the stores. We’ve had the most luck finding a spot there. Mudd Puddle gets extra points for being the only place in town that roasts their own coffee, and I like some of the more trendy selections on their drink menu, but the results may be sketchy. I personally prefer the loose-leaf teas.

Don’t be in a hurry. I love to support small biz but this place always makes me question why I don’t join the lemmings and just go to Starbucks where A) the baristas are pleasant and not put out by an order b) I don’t have to ask twice for what I ordered the 1st time and c) I won’t wait 20 minutes for a breakfast sandwich because the cook/owner(?) would rather crack jokes with her friends than crack some eggs. Good coffee but you’re your own worst enemy, Mud Puddle, especially on a Wed morning when you have 3 customers and clearly don’t desire any more.

They roast the coffee right in the shop. Everything is made to order and consequently takes a little while. At busy times, be prepared to wait; it’s worth it. This is a family business and you can always find the owners James and Michelle here. It is very little kid friendly both inside in their little play area and on the beautiful comfortable patio in front. Look no further for a great cup of coffee and a place to sit with your kids in the morning.

A new paltz staple. Great creative food with the best service. If your in a hurry what are you doing in New Paltz Quality over speed and fresh made food not sitting under heat lamps! We have lived and visited new paltz for 30 years and we never miss a week at Mudd

Stopped here on a very busy Saturday afternoon for lunch. They were out of the turkey and some of the sides. I had the chicken saled melt with a side of red cabbage slaw. The sandwich was very filling and chicken saled fresh and tasty. The slaw was fresh as well. We stopped here to grab a quick bite to eat but we were told that there would be a 25 minute wait to get our sandwiches. Overall, tasty Sandwich and a long wait.

Gotta tell ya… it should NEVER take this long to get an iced coffee. Waited and waited — as were others ahead of me –waited some more… they either need way more help(2 «baristas» working) or they seriously need to change the way they do business. Won’t be back even though I love supporting local business.

Whenever I go here they’re always Out of everything… out of turkey, out of Chai, out of sides other than salad, out of bagels, out if mint green tea… what do they have? It’s almost like begging. Do I come too late? They don’t have a highchair(it broke and was never replaced). The counter service is noncommittal. In experienced or nonchalant, I can’t decide. If it wasn’t for the location we would never go… the food is decent but simple leaving something to be desired and a lack of vegetarian options. Just one sandwich… Grilled veggies. They could try a little harder. Maybe they’re tired.

I came in here to grab some coffee and use the wifi after a good day of climbing in the gunks. Service was okay, but it was a tad busy. They never called out my drink order, so I was waiting and waiting before I realized I just had to go look. Yup there it was. Coffee was good and I hit the road.

The 30-min wait for two sandwiches and drinks leaves something to be desired — consider getting uncomplicated drinks and leave the food for unbusy days.

An Americano shouldn’t take more than five minutes. Especially when it’s slow. Perhaps the barista was new. In that case, the other worker should have noticed. That being said, I will probably return and give this establishment another try. Just raise your game a little, guys.

The name itself sounds adorable! Mudd Puddle is located right in the Waterstreet Market off of Main Street. It’s rustic, natural look attracts many customers, local and visitors alike. Chalkboard menus and funky artwork makes this place fun to be. I’ve had their freshly brewed teas/coffees, hot apple cider, chai lattes, cookies, bagels and more. Every time I visited here, I’ve always had an enjoyable experience. I wish there was more seating since the place is so popular! There is plenty outside but of course that becomes difficult when the cold weather approaches. Mudd Puddle is a cozy, relaxing spot in New Paltz.

As part of my tour of recommended top coffee houses in the Hudson Valley, I knew Mudd Puddle had a ring of familiarity to it. While in NP we stopped in. I got my requisite $ 4 soy chai latte and went on my way. Once I took a sip I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around to take it back. Yes, return it. It tasted like the dregs of dishwater. I drink a lot of these and even make them at home from loose tea not the prepackaged mix so I am well familiar with the various style of chais out there. And then I remembered I had had a coffee there previously which I did not return but dumped. It is such a cute place and I had hoped for better since they got such a nice write up in HV Magazine but in my case it was not meant to be. And with Cafeteria up the street I need not return to Mudd Puddle again. :(((
