Cute spot. Decorated nicely and a short walk from campus. The cupcakes are lovely to look at. The one I had was good, but not as tasty as I hoped, and they are very expensive. Lots of free parking!

I’ve been here a couple times and have fallen in love. I moved here from the city and was looking for a delicious cupcake place to take my heart! This is really the only one around, and that’s just fine with me! I tried a Winter Chai which is honestly the best chai I’ve ever had. The past two times I’ve been there, they have been out and it breaks my heart! I also tried this Pear Champagne cupcake– I forget what it was called exactly, but it goes on my list of top 5 cupcakes! It was so moist and not too sweet. Absolute perfection! I haven’t tried any of their other cupcakes or pastries but if they are as good as that one, they HAVE to be good! I will definitely be back!

I love Moxie! It’s a great place to go when you want to spend some time off campus. It’s a quick walk down the street from SUNY New Paltz, and a nice break from the congestion on campus. I think I have tried almost every latte and cupcake on the menu by now. My favorite latte is the raspberry mocha, although the seasonal white mocha cranberry that I just tried today is a close second. Their cupcakes are delicious, with something for everyone, including vegan and gluten free options. Even my dog has enjoyed their products when brought him home some pupcakes! The only thing I’d want to see is a regular lunch menu. They serve soups, I’m just not sure if it’s certain hours in the day, or what. I would definitely go there for lunch, and order a coffee and dessert if they instituted a lunch menu. I’ve enjoyed every visit, and feel very welcomed by the employees. Definitely a must visit when in New Paltz!

Oh, Moxie. From such humble beginnings, you’ve grown and monopolized the mini cupcake catering scene. You’ve made us so proud :’) No, but seriously. Moxie used to be located where Dohnut is now on Waterstreet Market. If you’ve never seen the space, it’s an itty, bitty closet, fit for a mouse or, at best, a small child. They’ve since expanded to an actual store with seating and everything. The inside is darling, and looks like the result of an Etsy photoshoot. It’s the perfect spot on a cozy winter afternoon to sit on the benches by the windows and nibble on one of their scones of cupcakes. I’m really not a big cake eater, but I’ve always been able to make an exception for the cupcakes here. In the summer they have these strawberry ones that(I believe) are vanilla cake, with a strawberry filling, a pretty basic white frosting and a strawberry drizzle. My old roommate used to work at Moxie and I would basically beg him to bring them home so I could live off them. I know they’ve been trying to do some rebranding and be more of a café, rather than exclusively a cupcake shop and I think they’re done a pretty good job. I usually wouldn’t stop there to grab lunch because I wouldn’t really try to fill up on the food at Moxie(chilis, soups, scones, etc.), but I remember plenty of hours in college spent in Moxie doing homework. The staff is extremely friendly and the store itself is bright and welcoming and I thought really conducive to getting work done. Even now, I’ll occasionally go there to read or something if I have time to kill in New Paltz. It’s also just been really cool to watch this place blow up and become so successful. For a time, I felt like every event on New Paltz’s campus had a few towers of mini cupcakes and they were winning regional awards up the wazoo. Go Moxie!

Great coffee and amazing cupcakes. They change up the cucpcake/cookie menu depending on the day and season. They offer gluten free and vegan options also. Favorites include Sunday Morning and Red Velvet. The staff is super friendly and they offer wifi.

I agree with other reviewers that the atmosphere in this coffee house makes it exceptional. They even cater to doggies and leave a bowl of water out front — just in case — which made our bichon very happy on a warm evening. The coffee/teas and cupcakes are solid(i am admittedly not big on cupcakes) but I liked their salted caramel version and the cherry/chocolate chip/oatmeal cookie very much. Easy parking and proximity to the Thruway make this place a worthwhile stop.

I have been going to Moxie since they first opened at a different location. Among the staff, all have been wonderful; especially the owner. My fiancé and I have developed a relationship with the owner, and love going in for a visit and feeling like we stop in each day. The cupcakes and home brewed coffee is to die for!

A variety of cupcakes for a decent price– however, I come here for the vegan ones, which most of the time no matter what time of day are almost always sold out. If there is such high demand for a certian product why not make more? Kind of disappointing when they used to offer vegan cookies as well. I think they could get more business if they made different types of vegan cupcakes aside from the chocolate/vanilla, because it seems that people love them since they are always gone! Staff here are always friendly and helpful also.

Was there visiting from Mississippi. The people there were awesome and the cupcakes were amazing. I don’t remember the name of the one that had bacon stuck in it but OMG it was the bomb. I would have never thought bacon and cake of any sort would be good but I was wrong.

I was passing through New Paltz when our car went past Moxie and I just needed to stop. And I was so glad I did. It is the cutest coffee bar. The vanilla was just perfect and made with real vanilla and real buttercream. Tiny pink sugar sprinkles on top. And the spinach and feta scone. Oh my goodness crumbly and I could taste that it had real feta in it. And they serve excellent coffee. Strong and flavorful. The store is decorated with cute throw pillows with positive messages, and has a relaxing vibe to it. I could definitely see this being the local hang out for the students. The staff was also very helpful and kind. I highly recommend Moxie Cup!

Every time I visit New Paltz, I look for the best coffee in town. While there are certainly other spots to find coffee or an espresso, I think these are the most obvious choices: 1) Lagusta’s Luscious 2) Hudson Coffee Traders 3) Mudd Puddle 4) Moxie Cup 5) Starbucks 6) Cafeteria If you’re travelling through New Paltz, and you’re about to jump on the thru-way, Moxie Cup is one of your best choices for a quick, quality cup, due to their easy-access large parking lot. The cupcakes are a no-brainer if you’ve got children with you, or if you have a sweet-tooth to satisfy, but they’re not inexpensive: six for $ 16 or a dozen for $ 30. There is free wi-fi and a few comfortable places to sit if you want to stay for awhile, but personally I’d stick to the brewed coffee. When I did order an espresso, it came out too hot, and it tasted pretty burnt, which tells me the barista’s tamp was too tight, and she wasn’t trained properly. Also, when I asked her how the iced coffee was made, she seemed confused that there might be another method besides putting the drip coffee in the fridge for a few hours.

We took a day trip to New Paltz today… We tried Moxies Apricot cupcake, the smores cupcake and the root beer float cupcake. In our(non) cupcake professional opinion(lol)… they are a bit on the sweeter side .the apricot filling was minimal. The smores cupcake a little dry, but was very pretty. The root beer cupcake really pretty and tasty! NYC prices are everywhere when it comes to cupcakes, so we weren’t shocked by the price, not to mention the amount of work to make them!

We stopped in late last weekend. With an hour left before close, we didn’t have much to choose from. After some deliberation, we decided to share the salted caramel, red velvet, and coconut cupcakes. Altogether, they were a bit sweeter than I had anticipated. And to add to that, they were a bit more expensive than the cupcakeries I’m used to in CT. We didn’t try any of the coffees, but did try the house-made tea — also, a bit sweet. Cool space inside: small tables, lounges, and benches make for a comfortable place to study and/or read though. With a few couches, low-hanging light-bulbs and relexing décor — the outdoor space is equally cool.

Love the ambiance in this place. Theres a bunch of tables to hang out with friends, and also single chairs to study or read. The cupcakes were really good, try the Moxie! However, i feel like the products are quite over priced, if you compare it to other places in the city(sprinkles, magnolia). Its about $ 4 per cupcakes that are quite small, nonetheless, they were good. I hate frostings of some sort and actually liked the one I had. Staff was really friendly! They have a good selection of drinks as well(coffee, smoothies, juices).

Moxie Cupcake is a sweet blend of food, drink, and atmosphere, and the atmosphere here is what set it apart for me from other cupcakeries. It’s very much a place for all ages, and it’s quite kid-friendly. They don’t necessarily have as many varieties of cupcakes as the industrial strength places in major cities, but if you do what you do well — and they do — that isn’t an issue. I do, in general, find most cupcakes too sweet for my taste, especially the frosting. Here, it was tolerable for me, enhanced by flavorful creamy centers in some cupcakes, and equally fresh creamy frostings. The portion size is just right. They have vegan and gluten-free options too. Beverages include a variety of coffees and teas, and it was a plus for me to see a whole bean coffee dispenser behind the counter. It was quite satisfying to have an iced tea which I knew was not industrial as well. While a lot of cupcakeries do have seating, a lot of the high customer turnover ones seem to convey this«Finish what you ordered and get out!» attitude. No so here, with the large tables, kids’ section, and quite a few surprisingly plush chairs. 1950’s era R&B music(bonus points for Etta James) add to the atmosphere. I wonder how some of the restaurants in New Paltz deal with Moxie Cupcake — given the prices many restaurants charge for dessert these days, I’d be very tempted to pass and come here for dessert.

Love Moxie! My Favorite is the Vanilla Sky Cupcake. In the summer they serve Fruit Smoothies and shakes that are really great. I do not drink coffee so i would not know how the coffee is here. They have a variety of Gluten Free and Vegan cupcakes as well. I heard Moxie will be serving savory foods soon. Can’t wait to try the new additions. Customer service is great. Servers are Very nice. Josie the owner is super sweet. I highly recommend a visit to Moxie!

Still a really great cupcakery. I visit their shop on main street(or waterstreet market) whenever I am in town. Their cakes are light and fluffy not to mention moist. And the frosting is a tad bit sweet but I don’t mind that. Update! I have also tried the dark chocolate and the coconut — equally great flavors that I could taste right away.(Sometimes they get lost in the baking process.) The staff is super friendly and always give me recommendations. I’m glad they are adding more locations to the area! I highly suggest going to the main street one since it’s bigger and they have a larger variety.
