Saturday, 11:45AM. Flew through the line with a part of two. Quickie: + Food quality * Hygiene + Friendly staff — Turnaround * Waiting/Seating system(amorphous lines) + Menu variety And then??? Main Street Bistro is a good place to re-energize after hiking/camping. Be ready to wait if you’re coming as a group(greater than 3 people). ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. Salmon hash + Fish pieces were savory and had a sautéed texture, without overpowering the dish. — Poached eggs were dry(arid yolk). 2. French toast(homemade bread) — Even with syrup, this dish was too dry.

Loved this spot! It was perfect for fueling our day of antiquing in New Paltz. Local atmosphere and interesting & delicious menu.

I hadn’t eaten here in a few years and found myself there today and was so happy to find their food is amazing as always. As always, be prepared to wait an eternity for a table. It isn’t due to inefficiency on their part, they’re just so busy. Not the friendliest of servers today but the host was super. Coffee sucks, no wonder they have a «no outside beverage» sign on their door because I would have greatly preferred to just bring Starbucks in. They also only have white sugar, which seems odd for New Paltz.

Hands down, my favorite casual breakfast spot in the northeast. So many great dishes, it is a struggle to decide, Wish it was closer to home. Red light/Green light(poached eggs, English muffins, pesto, sun dried tomato and hollandaise) is one of my all time favs. Busy on Weekend mornings, but worth a short wait. Also great for lunch.

Love this place! I’ve only been here once when I was visiting New Paltz. It’s great. They have different art up on the walls and the atmosphere is very college town young and hip. I ordered am omelette with smoked salmon and I was able to get a salad on the side instead of toast. The service was fast and they didn’t kick me out even though there was a line out the door(since I eat really slowly). Will come again next time I’m in town! 8⁄10 eggs.

This is a great local greasy spoon for anyone that loves those type of eats as I do! The area, in general, has some really great local spots that are great for casual dining and good food; this is one of them. I’ve only been for breakfast but it hits that note very well for me. The menu is the type of fare you would expect from this type of restaurant, the Eggs Benedict in particular are worth trying. The service is super friendly and the atmosphere is very warm for the setting which, in the fast paced breakfast mode, is sometimes over looked. Another highlight, the short order menu is on fleek! A good breakfast spot, in my opinion, needs to have a good menu but be able to deviate(within reason) without much fuss. So… I don’t see my egg white vegetable omelet with swiss? No problem. It’s a check in the plus column here and something that can’t be overstated when qualifying a breakfast place in particular; separates the best local spots from the rest. Some logistics, parking is a little tough for the whole down town area so be aware you may have to fight for a spot. It is boisterous in there which is to be expected and fitting for the type of eatery; and it is also a small restaurant. Maybe 20 tables or so, and mostly two tops(a joined to make four tops), so fair warning it’s cozy! That said it doesn’t detract because it’s fitting for what you should expect from this type of comfy local ‘joint’. All in all, it’s a good stop for eats. Sometimes you have in your minds eye what you want for a good quick breakfast but don’t want a diner and not fast food either; Main Street Bistro scratched that itch very well. I enjoyed my meal, and I bet you would too. It’s the kind of place that made me feel if I went enough they would greet me by name and know my favorite order without me having to ask… I like that.

New Paltz is definitely a small town upstate NY where it is not too far from Manhattan but far enough that you will feel little bit of country. I have been to this bistro for many years and it is definitely a great place for brunch on Sat or Sun after spending the weekend hiking and visiting the Mohonk Preserve or SUNY New Paltz. There are many Irish bars and variety of restaurants on this block but this is my favorite. — Cash only so bring your benjamins; but if you forget then there’s an ATM inside. Also, Wells Fargo and Chase banks are nearby in walking distance. — Normal wait time is around 20 mins to 30 mins so plan accordingly; but the bar area is first come first serve so if you are party of only 2 or 3 then check that area first. There’s only 5 seats available. — It’s a small place and I like to sit by the window on both sides of the restaurant so ask for them specifically if you want a bit of sunshine while you eat. — Menu is simple american/english breakfast with twist of fusion like jambalaya, burritos and salads; they do offer breakfast burger with bacon and egg if you like that. There’s NO steak on the menu so settle for chicken, sausage, shrimp and beef patties for protein. — They are only offering Breakfast and Lunch for now. I like Jammin Jambalaya(warning: it might be too hot for average non spicy lovers) and Halfmoon(shrimp quesadilla). My friends prefer Salmon Hash breakfast and Rail Trail burger. I cannot wait to go back. Maybe more hiking next year.

So good. I had the salmon hash and it was really delicious — you could tell the fish was fresh, and it was cooked perfectly. I took the organic egg option, which is worthwhile. We went back here two days in a row because we were so impressed. Edit: went back because I loved the place and the tall male manager was particularly rude. Left a bad taste in my mouth despite how lovely everyone else is and how good the food is!

Hard to argue with the crowd. Main Street Bistro is as «Downtown New Paltz» as you can get– both in location and atmosphere. If you’re going for brunch be prepared to wait outside. This tiny space is incredibly popular. They go a little heavy on the vegi/vegan stuff for me, but hey, it’s New Paltz.

The main food spot in downtown New Paltz. Sunday AM be ready to wait a while, gets very crowded… Food is very good and you can get breakfast all day. I had the bacon cheese burger and asparagus soup. Everything was delicious… Staff was very pleasant as well

The breakfast here is amazing and definitely worth the wait. There are so many vegan and health conscience choices on the menu and the specials are always fresh and prepared with the most healthy ingredients. It’s a small venue, however, and the tables are very close together.

In a town that’s full of new students(and businesses) every year, Bistro has some serious staying power. They constantly packed and it’s definitely a regular spot for most of the students and their friends at the college. The inside is a little tight, especially in the winter when the entrance is completely and claustrophobically filled with people. If you don’t like to wait for a table or don’t like being at a restaurant where the general idea is to eat and leave, don’t come here because they have to flip tables to try and get everyone in. They have a fun menu that’s really representative of the whole eclectic, outdoorsy thing New Paltz has going on. They have a lot of gluten free and vegan options on their menu, which is definitely something that’s appreciated by Hudson Valley customers. The décor is a rotating series of prints and paintings and such that range from weird, quirky doodles, to some really beautiful art(that I was too poor to buy in college. Actually, still too poor to buy cool art). The food can be a little underwhelming past breakfast, but if you want a super cheap plate of eggs and potatoes after a night out, this is the perfect place. Bonus: They serve their mimosas in pint glasses instead of champagne flutes. Since I went to college in New Paltz, Bistro will forever have a nostalgic hold on my heart. Sure, the food isn’t the most amazing cuisine in the Hudson Valley, but when we were students, it was our hangover Sunday brunch spot, the place to bring your parents when they visited, the free coffee you might get if you met a professor there. Since it’s packed basically every morning, students are always hanging out on the stoop and sidewalk so you’d always run into someone you knew. Think of it as an endearing watering hole for a bunch of art students with nose rings and an affinity for chain smoking.

Main Street Bistro. Pretty much awesome — don’t know how else to put it; Great variety and amazing taste, the exciting menu lends to a great breakfast and I’d love to try more. Decent service but always busy; a good sign that the food does the talking and you want to do the eating. Great after camping, all 11 of us were pleased. Only let down really, was the OJ, I thought it was fresh squeezed according to the waiters remark, however I’m positive it was just MinuteMaid, certainly not fresh squeezed that day.

Stopped in for lunch on a weekend adventure out of NYC for apple picking and other fall activities. Located on a busy, quaint street in New Paltz, Main Street Bistro seems to be an institution. Service was slow(we waited 30 – 40 minutes for our two plates of food to arrive) but everything was delicious so we left happy anyway. The menu is huge and it was hard to decide because everything sounded so tasty! Highly recommend their famous salmon hash, served with poached eggs, hollandaise and toast. Also great was the groovy open faced tuna melt, topped with melted cheese, bacon, avocado and sprouts.

As a «local” — I’ve been to The Bistro hundreds of times. Today, I took visiting family. They were as happy as I’ve always been! Appreciated the many vegetarian options– although I, as usual, was drawn in to anything with bacon(I don’t have to share… another plus lol!) Service is great– always re-filling coffee, prices are good. Noise level not an issue! The only thing, for me, is that I try to avoid weekends! Thankfully– I can go Monday-Friday! A MUST when you want a great breakfast(lunch & dinner!)

I took a friend that was visiting from the city to this awesome spot! I’ve never even been myself but got it mixed up with the Main Course! I’m so glad we drove to the right place n arrived at Main Street Bistro! Breakfast was amazing!!! Fresh ingredients, fresh squeezed orange juice AND vegan options for my friend! It’s 7:10 am on a Sunday right now and I’m tempted to drive across the river to get there! GETUP N GETTOMAINSTREETBISTRO!

The perfect PERFECT hangover cure. I wasn’t hungover when I visited, but thought that it would be the best option if I was! The menu is huge and everything is reasonably priced. Our waiter was nice and had lots of recommendations for our medium sized hungry ass group. I had the Louisiana and it is loaded with everything you could possibly want in a saucy, cheesy, meaty pasta. Down it with a bottle of mother’s milk and you’re good for the rest of the day! We came down here after hiking Mohonk… It was such a great decision!

Yes, yes, yes! Very cute, hipster place. I’m from out of town, staying in Wallkill, and was looking for something yummy for lunch that would satisfy three totally different palates(one being a child’s). Service was good. Menu is large with many options including vegan and vegetarian which I enjoy and are so hard to come by. Food was great! My breakfast sandwich was large and very filling, stuffed with great ingredients including sprouts which I love and so many places are afraid to serve. My hubs ordered a burger with an egg on top and he claims that it was very good. Nice little spot in a cute little place in New Paltz which looks from outer space when compared to its surrounding farm area. Again, I’m not from around this area so it was great to find this little town. Super Cool!

Delicious fresh tasting food, excellent service and reasonable prices. I had pancakes with cranberries in them. They were light and airy and had just the right amount of fruit. Syrup was also good, as was coffee. Great job Bistro, I’ll keep coming back.

This is a great Hudson Valley establishment. I came here on a Sunday at 11:00 and was seated within 10 minutes. I’ve been here before, and each time I’ve been pleased; the place just has that hometown feel. I had the South of the Border($ 6.95) made with two eggs, refried beans, guacamole, cilantro, cheddar & home fries wrapped in a crisp tortilla with salsa and sour cream. The salsa and sour cream usually come on top, but I got them on the side. I also had the Papas frittata skillet($ 6.95) with broccoli, mushrooms, onions, tomato & cheddar. It’s served on a bed of home fries in its own skillet. Both of the above dishes were satisfying and come out rather quickly. I do wish the South of the Border was a bit more«full» in terms of how much«stuff» was on the inside. In addition, one side had significantly more guacamole than the other. Unfortunately, this side was the one my sister was enjoying. The Papas frittata was quite good as previously noted, but similar to the wrap, it needed just a bit more«stuff». I would have loved some more broccoli, mushrooms, and onions in there. I also thought that, while it was tasty, it could have been upped in flavor with some additional spices. Overall, Main Street Bistro consistently puts out a good breakfast.
