I would have given 5 stars if the wait between train departures wasn’t so LONG! Unfortunately, your in the Northern portion of Connecticut. A little bit more and your in Rhode Island. Clearly, almost everyone here has a car. Not too many people looking to travel South to justify a frequent schedule. Enough of that! I was greeted so warmly. The attendant gave me service with a smile. She even made humerous small talk with me as I waited… and waited… and waited. Did I say WAITED!!! The overhead announcements were clear and timely. Your right next to a marina so the view is pleasant. Overall, not bad! I would use this station again… even though I WWWWaaaiiiiiiiTttttttTtted

With the exception of my travels in Europe, I have not taken advantage of public transportation by railway. In California, it’s not really a popular way for us to transit the extent of the state, because everyone just drives. In areas like the east cost where states are small, but the seaboard has widely spaced points of interest, it’s apparent why Amtrak is so popular. We planned a trip from Connecticut to New York, and I had absolutely no idea what to expect. It was extremely easy to make our reservation online, and they even offered us a military discount because we’re an active duty Navy family. We arrived at the station about 30 minutes early to check in and play it safe. The station is easy to get to, is well-lit, and clean. We used the automated check in system which is fast and easy to use. While we were waiting for the train to arrive, things started to get weird. First, there were customers who left their baggage in the station, and then other people came and sat with them, and then left and others ended up picking them up. I thought it was really suspicious and I was surprised nobody cared to do anything about it. Secondly, there was an obviously homeless man charging his phone in a corner, who was dry shaving with a disposable razor onto the facility’s carpet, and had visibly wet his pants. This very disheartening scene was also somehow not worth doing anything about, and he later stumbled into traffic, barely dodging cabbies. The actual trip was non-eventful, painless, and convenient, albeit a little on the expensive side for a very much no-frills experience. I feel like they should keep better tabs on their customer area, and maybe should include a security guard for safety reasons. I would absolutely use the amtrak system again, I wouldn’t be very likely however, to leave from this station again.

I am what you call a Unilocal«completest» so no business or location is too ridiculous for me to review-so the Amtrak New London station-you will probably not want to come here to just chill but it will get you to the train.
