Ordered from the first time today — super convenient location, average food. We got a Drunken Noodle with chicken and the Kee Mow Crispy Pork(Hot Basil); both were fairly bland and the meats were a bit overcooked.

I usually really enjoy the food and atmosphere at this restaurant. I have eaten in restaurant, ordered pick-up, and received delivery in the past, always with wonderful results. Today, the interaction I received when asking for delivery was deceitful and disrespectful. Although I usually enjoy the service and food immensely, I will not return based on my interaction today.

I love this place ! I’ve been here multiply times and each time I come, it’s just so so so good. This Thai restaurant is a hidden gem in Westville. Whenever I get sick I’ll just get the Tum yum talay. AMAZING. Whenever I feel like eating out, I’ll just come here by myself … And YES, anyone can totally eat here by themselves without feeling judged.(So don’t feel pressured to bring company, hahaha) Also, the Thai ice tea is so so so so good that I often come to the restaurant to get a Thai ice tea to-go. I’m basically a regular –so good !

One of our favorite places to order delivery from. Some of the dishes are really great, others could use some extra loving. Try the Prik King Curry, it’s the best with some rice dipped into it!

Didn’t realized they changed ownership and ordered my standard chicken pad thai and beef pad see ew. Completely different dishes and the pad thai was made with this funky orange colored sauce. My glowing review below was when it was under old management and this last experience literally left a bad taste in my mouth. Time to find a new go-to Thai takeout spot.

Changed ownership about five months ago according to our waitress. Service was great and very attentive. Had lunch specials which came with appetizer of choice and priced 8−10ish depending on the meat you would like. Wife had crab rangoon appetizer which only came with just one piece and a dipping sauce. My wonton soup appetizer had just one wonton. So portions on the appetizers could be improved or doubled IMO. It would be more acceptable if the entrees were larger. Wife had a curry plate in a fist sized bowl with rice on the side. Good enough size, but could be better. Taste was good! Basil rice was decent. Can’t complain. They used to have a menu plate that had lots of different tastes to try(previous ownership) but that’s no longer on the new menu. Oh well! So. Three stars. Great service. Small portions. Tasty food. Will add a star for larger plates!

Best lunch special around! For under $ 8 you get a full portion of any of the noodles, rice, or entrée dishes. Seriously, you can pick basically anything off their extensive menu. Plus you get a small appetizer. Beyond the crazy deal, the food itself is great. I have a salt and MSG sensitivity and I definitely noticed it in the curry I ordered. That didn’t stop me from eating it all! My sister, who is a picky eater, devourer the drunken noodles. Compared to Thai Stories, this one comes in a very close 2nd place for Thai in the area. However, the low prices makes it a more acceptable to take out more frequently! It’s located in a strip mall close to the post office and Denny’s. Ill make sure to request little salt and no MSG for my next meal, which I hope to be soon.

This is a great restaurant in a strange location, the quality and portion of food you get is great and seems to always be fresh as it gets. It’s also pretty big and looks nice too, place is very clean. You can also get take out and prices are average for a Thai restaurant. Really recommend it to anyone looking for decent Thai food.

…I believe they have new owners in 2015 and that they have revised the existing menu–

Don’t let the location(small strip mall) and outer appearance of this place fool you. The food is very good. I’ve tried many dishes here and have rarely been disappointed. I always make sure to get the roti canai. It’s not healthiest appetizer but it’s very tasty and the dipping sauce is great. The ambiance is casual(and pleasant), so I would not recommend this for a romantic dinner. But it is child friendly.

They cannot serve hot water. I said just give me the tea water before you put the tea in it. The waitress has no idea. I finally told her to have the cook heat water and serve it; I’m sure he can do that. She came back with a carafe of hot water and a cup and said she’ll charge me $ 2 for it! We said then we’ll leave. REALLY? $ 2 for hot water? I’m not going back.

Went there on my drive back to NYC and found this place on Unilocal. The décor and ambiance was nice. The food was really good and came out nice and hot. I had yellow curry with chicken and my girlfriend has a delicious chicken dish too. Prices were very reasonable. The service was good. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Thai food.

Admittedly, this place is attractive to me due to its location. I have gone to this place twice in the past 3 weeks because I was conveniently nearby. The food is tolerable. I had the shrimp drunken noodles with level 5 spice, and it was flavorful in general but not spicy enough. I think I had a total of 4 shrimps, so that aspect was a little lame considering I ordered the $ 10 dinner entrée. I tried the seafood lard na last week, and it was a disappointment. The broth was almost cloyingly sweet, and there was just not much else going on. I definitely won’t be ordering the lard na again. I wish the North Haven/New Haven/Hamden areas had better offerings in Asian cuisine in general. Everything I have tried so far have elicited lukewarm sentiments from my gastronomic heart, and this place is right on par with the rest.

Good spot for Thai food right by the highway. Service was mediocre. Nothing fancy. I had the duck noodle soup which had good flavor. My friend had the green curry which was also good but very spicy. Overall good experience, would go again.

Just got back from having dinner here and I gotta tell you, for a Saturday night, this place was not busy at all. There was 2 other parties there when we arrived and by the time we were done, we were the only ones left; it was about 8:30 — 9:00. I got me questioning how they’re going to stay in business with no traffic. So we went here for the first time based on the reviews here. To my surprise, it’s inside a plaza so I didn’t have to worry about parking. Food was just average for us. The Roti Canai was good but I wish they had cut it up a little for us so that we’re not tearing apart. The Tom Yum soup was watering, not too much flavor to it. The Golden Sack was good. It’s like eating a spring roll but with a dumpling version. The Som Tum was good and very fresh. The Seafood Curry that we request to be a 5 star spicy was not at all spicy. The Green Curry with chicken was good and so was the Yum Nua. Nothing really stood out for us, hence the 3 star rating. The atmosphere was nice and the service was slow but wasn’t bad.

Brought my mom here for mothers day(so, a bit back). We both hadn’t had thai food for a while and wanted something vegetarian and gluten free, and this place was perfect. Portions were large but not so huge that I needed a take-home bag, sauce was tasty, drinks were delicious, atmosphere was quiet but not dead — decent for 4pm on a weekend(most other places were packed on mother’s day, glad we went here). I got something like pad thai with really wide noodles, don’t remember what it was called but it was flavored perfectly. not too salty, or underflavored, or too greasy, tasted exactly as how you expect a pad dish to taste. I believe my mom got a curry and was not disappointed. i am so glad i live near here so i can eat here more often :)

Stopped by for lunch and had a seriously good and seriously inexpensive combination plate as part of their lunch menu. Pad Thai, Ginger Chicken, spring rolls plus a Thai desert for $ 7.95. Seriously good, large portion to the point that I took some home with me. When I asked for a container to take the Ginger Chicken they asked me if I would like some rice with it? I said yes and asked for brown rice which they added to my doggie bag ATNOCHARGE. Definitely would recommend this for food, price, atmosphere, convenience. Enjoy.

Delicious. I had the Pad Thai and I enjoyed it very much. The staff was courteous and though I did take out, I noticed the inside of the restaurant to be quite nice. It was affordable and the portion sizes were generous.

I’d been wanting to go to The Thai for quite some time, ever since I had learned that they served Rendang. You see, its pretty hard to find Rendang around here, decent or otherwise, and as it is one of my favorite foods, I had to go and give it a shot. The Thai is on the end of a large strip mall off Whalley Avenue, with plenty of places to park. Walking in, the décor is quite interesting, with heavy wooden tables and bamboo flutes prominently displayed, but generally quite comfortable. The service was good, and the waitstaff attentive without being annoying. The food also was good, though not quite what expected. First, the Rendang was like none I’ve ever had before. It was much more solid and in a very wet gravy, served in some kind of fried crispy bowl with pickled veggies on the side. I joked that this was either either the strangest rendang I’ve ever had or the best taco salad. Really, I’m inclined to consider it both. My girlfriends green curry was a bit more… normal. But that leads me to the second thing that was unexpected. When they say something is spicy, they mean it. I’m used to all sorts of hot Indian dishes, and my girlfriend and I both adore spicy Thai cuisine — but this place’s Green Curry was HOT! Deliciously and deceptively hot! This is not a complaint mind you, just a warning to others. Overall, my experience at The Thai was a good one. Prices were a little higher than similar places, but still affordable. The food was very good, and the atmosphere comfortable. I’ll be going back.

With a name like THETHAI, the bar is raised higher for expectations. Luckily, The Thai delivers, letting the delicious food validate the grandeur of their name. The drunken noodles are the epitome of yummy thai food, the cashew shrimp and Tom Yum soup also did justice to thai flavors. I’m a fan of their lunch specials, for $ 7.95 you get an entrée, a side, and a roll or satay. You can’t beat that! I’ve never dined in, always take out. The ambiance doesn’t entice me to eat in, I think thats because I have always gone during the day and the lighting is dim. Under those conditions I may stuff my face, get sleepy, and be late for work. I’ll keep it safe, only take out by day, but I plan on checking out the dine in experience for dinner soon. The Thai is under the same ownership as the Rice Pot on State and Thai Taste on Chapel.
