The food was great, but the service was extremely poor. I’ve been a server for 8 years, so I try to be understanding, but bad service is bad service. We sat at the bar and I’m not sure if the owner was bar tending today, but she sat in the corner on her cell phone the whole time. We asked for a side of ranch, which was forgotten. I understand mistakes happen, but then I asked for a water, which was also forgotten. We were the only customers at the bar, so I don’t understand how so much was forgotten. I opted for the«build your own salad card» and made a dark black check mark on everything I wanted. When my salad came out, it had grilled chicken on it, which I don’t like at all. I put the chicken on a paper napkin so I could enjoy my salad. The bartender came over and asked what was wrong. I said I did not ask for chicken. She grabbed my order card, and argued that I did. A tiny gray mark was just above the grilled chicken option, so I suggested that perhaps she accidentally made that mark while she wrote my boyfriends order down, on the same card. She argued that she did not, and insisted that I was wrong. She than said she wished I hadn’t «thrown the chicken on the bar»(it was on a paper napkin, I was trying to be neat) and then brought the chicken back to the kitchen to be reused. When is it EVER okay to reuse food that was served to a customer?

Looking for a place to unwind after a long and stressful week… a comfortable barstool, friendly bartender, interesting menu and warm atmosphere where you can relax over drinks and great food? Then Temple Grill is the place. Try Temple Grill for two as an appetizer. The tuna, beef and chicken with three sauces can’t be beat. And be certain to delve into the house potato chips. A note: Temple Grill has a hidden gem: Sunday brunch. Try The Skillet.

Food was great and service was quick. I had the bulldog burger medium rare which was phenomenal. The burger had blue cheese and a wine reduction cooked medium rare to perfection. Will be a repeat customer and will recommend to others.

Love that they offer two different portion sizes with their meals. Nice small little area, their salad menu brings a lot of different variety. You can’t forget their tradition of Swedish fish on your receipt when cashing out.

What a great find this warm, cozy bar and grill is, on the ground floor of a building just steps from the New Haven Green. We were lured inside by the specials advertised on the sign outside. Once seated, our server gave us a friendly, warm welcome, as well as a comprehensive explanation of their menu, and why she likes each of about 15 different dishes – all from memory, without pausing. She made each one sound worth a try. When she realized that we were considering a special from the sign outside, she explained that those were bar menu specials, and re-seated us pleasantly, right away, at the bar. The bartender, whose name was Charlie, took our orders promptly, without rushing us, and had clean cloth napkins with cutlery in place in seconds. Water glasses followed immediately, then our draft beers. Since we had some of their amazing sweet chili buffalo wings as appetizers(12 large pieces, perfectly cooked in a warm chili sauce, with sides of fresh celery spears and ranch dressing), Charlie brought us extra cloth napkins dipped in cold water to help in cleaning our hands — without being asked. He seemed to anticipate everything we might need. The burgers were huge, cooked to perfection, and accompanied by massive portions of crisp waffle fries. Refills on the draft Belgian beers arrived as soon as our glasses were empty. If this is the kind of service one gets at their bar, I am sure the table service must be outstanding, too. This place has it all: great staff, great service, great food and drinks at reasonable, fair prices, and an atmosphere that makes one want to linger as long as possible on a raw February night. TWO thumbs, way up, and a special shout out to Charlie.

It was a busy Friday night when I tried this place for the first time. My waitress was running non-stop but was so efficient and always checked in on me, and the drinks and food were delivered promptly. I ordered a salad and it may have been the best salad I’ve ever had! I love the way they have a clip board and a glass full of pencils and you check off everything you want on or in your salad on a salad check sheet. Very cool idea!

I was here for lunch with a friend and she introduced me to the wonderful build your own salad feature. You even get to select your own greens(arugula, spinach, etc.)! They usually have«put some stuff on top of iceberg» at other places. Their list for«stuff on top» was impressive. It was hard to limit myself. Even with what I did pick, I thought maybe my greens to «stuff» ratio was pushing me over the line of what can be recognized as a salad anymore. I had chicken, beets, avocado, egg, shredded carrots, and those little crispy chow mein noodles. It was all topped with a ginger dressing. Soooooo delicious. It was huge and so satisfying. I will say it was the one time I did not feel«good» about myself going with the salad for lunch. That salad definitely made me feel like an extra mile on the treadmill was required.

Had a fantastic time. Friendly and polite bar keeper. Had the Grilled Meatloaf. Grilled perfectly with a bit of char to give it a grilled flavor while still being moist served on top of mashed potatos covered on a gravy and a dusting of what I believe was parsley flakes. side of salad on the same plate. amazing plate of food at a good price perfect for a quick dinner after work.

Service still a little questionable, but my last couple of visits the food has been very good and the prices are reasonable. Most of the sandwiches are under $ 10 and the entrees have a full size or a half size option. I also like that you have the ability to customize your own item, whether it be salad, sandwiches or pasta. They have a large outdoor patio in the summer and a portion of it is covered and heated in the colder weather.

I can’t believe how dead this place was on Friday night. I stopped by with a friend after a concert at the College Street Music Hall and we quickly had the place basically to ourselves. We made friends with our waitress and someone who I am guessing is the manager or owner. We split a pitcher of the white sangria and had to fight over who got to finish it. We were gifted with a serving of their signature chips(fantastic) and ordered the cannoli plate(a little lemon-y for my taste, but still soooooo good). I’ve walked by Temple Grill dozens of times without going in and now I regret missing out!

Outdoor seating was nice, albeit a tiny bit chilly on an October evening. Salad card was, as many reviews pointed out, excellent. Seafood pie felt a bit pricey, but it did taste good with lots of scallops, shrimps, and a decent amount of lobster. Tuna sandwich was good too, though not at all a fan of the accompanying waffle fries(too dry). Overall very much worth the visit.

They have a nice patio area, so this isn’t a bad place to stop for a beer and a bite to eat on a warm summer day. That said, the service is on the slow side and the food isn’t anything to write home about.

Temple grill is a nice restaurant and bar appropriately located on Temple street in New Haven, right across from the Omni Hotel. The restaurant is low key, casual. It has floor to ceiling windows in the front which makes inside feel much more open. They have a nice bar with good seating, and an outdoor patio where people can eat and hang out as they choose. Their menu has many«have it your way» options. For instance, you can get a burger made to order, with any toppings you choose, along with fries, and a beer for $ 11. They’re also well known for their create your own salad options, which come in huge portions, that people love. The staff are really nice, especially the bartender, Charles! Make friends with him, and you’re golden… Like a golden sauce, LOL! ;) Overall, Temple Grill is a great place to go in new haven! It’s low key, and a great place for groups, so you’re sure to have a great time.

I had a lovely lunch with colleagues at this restaurant! The salads were filling and you could choose from a wide range of options to create the dining experience best for you. The staff was friendly and very helpful as well. Whether it was asking for suggestions or getting extra napkins, we were always treated with kindness. I look forward to eating at this restaurant on my next visit to New Haven!

I recently went here hour the first time with a good friend of mine. We both ordered the grilled cheese sandwiches. We were both shocked when our order came to us. The grilled cheese sandwiches were probably the best we have ever had anywhere hands down! It was on a sourdough bread with four different types of cheese. Absolutely cheesy deliciousness. I would strongly recommend this if you are a cheese lover. The servers were also very prompt and friendly. My only issue is the place is really small and it gets crowded. Come by and give it a try.
