Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven

After a year of getting no answers, I was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor and was placed in the pediatric ward of Yale. The care I received was amazing. Each doctor cared and the nurse’s were so awesome. My tumor was completely removed and my radiation treatment went smoothly. They treated me with respect and understanding. Every question was throughly answered and I was completely comfortable in their care. Best hospital around in terms of ability, technology, and overall care.

In the course of two weeks, neither my doctor’s office nor my calls went answered at the Breast Center. Over fourteen days, the scheduling director at my doctor’s office and I called the new patient intake director multiple times. I did receive a voicemail after one week, but now it has been another week without response. After two weeks without even being able to discuss scheduling an appointment, I was not confident that Smilow would be committed to the quality of patient care I hoped to receive. (Or else they need a new patient intake director.) I found a different facility and was able to speak with someone immediately. Any questions that they couldn’t answer directly were followed up with a return call the same day. I do not recommend choosing the Breast Center at Smilow unless you have many hours to spend on scheduling.
