Excellent coffee and service. Very easy to support this small business because of it!

I love fuel. I live in Wooster so it’s great to see such an awesome coffee shop so close to me. I was a fan before they moved to their new location and I still am! I am a little disappointed to see the lack of seating inside, as I used to hangout for hours at their previous location but it’s not possible here with the limited space. With that being said, I think their coffee/tea/food is outstanding and deserves 5 stars. You won’t get better coffee in New Haven, period. I also think the staff is personable and I always strike up a nice conversation with them when I’m there. I like the new style of the place and I agree that it’s more modern and just fits the neighborhood better. Most people tend to get coffee as a «grab and go» thing so I don’t think the lack of seating will hurt them in the long run. Plus in the summer, I can see there being some nice tables outside as well. If you’re in the area, definitely check fuel out! You won’t be disappointed.

I’m really disappointed by the new location. It’s just too small, and there are three stools to sit on. Three stools in the whole place. I presume in the summer they might have some seating outside, but if there is any kind of line in the winter, there will literally not even be a place to stand inside. The core of Fuel remains the same: the coffee is still great and the staff still needs an attitude adjustment — but I won’t be coming here any more.

The coffee here is superb, rivaled only by the Coffee Pedaler in my opinion, and the prices seem competitive to me. The staff has always been friendly in the mornings that I’ve stopped in here, and agree with another reviewer that they do seem grateful for the business. Only down-sides of this place are the small size with a lack of any real seating option and the lack of bagels, though hopefully those will be on the way soon. I do wish as well that their square pay credit card swipe was set up to tip in percentages rather than dollars, but perhaps that’s just a personal quirk of mine. Overall, fills a great need for the neighborhood in being the only coffee shop in Wooster Sq.

In it’s old location a few blocks away Fuel became a staple of the neighborhood by creating a welcoming place for people to get good coffee, unique bites to eat, and holding community events like art openings by the children at the local school or hosting an LGBT art series. Their new location is significantly smaller, but in many ways it’s an upgrade. The new set-up on Wooster Street feels more modern and is more in tune with a «to go» atmosphere. This allows for people in the neighborhood to come in and out on their way to work, or stroll in with their dog(yes, dogs allowed!) when walking around Wooster Square park. It’s great to still have Fuel in the neighborhood serving their fair-trade coffee, local pastries, and vegetarian bites. I appreciate their want to do things differently. It’s a unique New Haven business that I am happy to support.

I absolutely adore this place. For starters, one of my favorite things about Fuel is that their staff is super friendly and helpful, and they seem genuinely grateful that you’re there. But best of all is their coffee, which is delicious – it’s honestly some of the best in New Haven, if not Connecticut. They offer good food and pastries, too. Plus, by going there I get to support an independent coffee shop that has been a hub of community for years, right in the heart of the Wooster Square neighborhood. And while I loved Fuel before its recent move, I think I like its new location even more. Highly recommended.

Great place. Good to see a local coffee shop on Wooster Street. Good coffee and food. Nice place to walk to in the neighborhood. I wish they opened earlier during the week though. Coffee is decently priced.
