I recently moved within walking distance of Edgerton Park and also adopted a dog. I love this park more now than I did after coming here for free Shakespeare in the Park(and that’s saying a lot because they put on some fantastic productions). The park itself is a beautiful area surrounded by stone walls, and it’s well taken care of with lots of grassy areas, trees, benches, a fountain, and even a greenhouse and garden area. It’s very dog friendly with disposable bag dispensers all around the park and lots of trash and recycling receptacles. It’s the perfect place to bring my dog for regular walks, and there are always friendly faces around. Shakespeare in the Park every summer is a great event, and I can’t wait to go again this summer. The last two productions put on by the Elm Shakespeare Company were Julius Caesar and Macbeth, and they were both very well done. This year, they will be performing Pericles. It makes for a great evening of sitting on blankets and camp chairs, with nice little picnics and glasses of wine or beer. Even without a dog to walk or a play to see, Edgerton Park is a lovely place to spend some time.

I have lived in New Haven for a few years now and I feel like I’m always learning new things. How incredible is Edgerton Park? You don’t know. Well let me put you on… its really, really incredible. My first experience here was the production of Julius Cesar put on by the Elm Shakespeare Company. The play is a part of their yearly series, «Shakespeare in the park» that runs every night through the summer. People came out with their blankets, chairs, picnic baskets and what-have-yous. A very intimate setting and a wonderful performance by the actors. Apart from the production the park is gorg. There is a large greenhouse. a fountain, and a few benches. The most important part is that the park well kept. I won’t be a stranger to this park any longer, I plan on taking plenty a quite stroll through this local treasure.
