First time to visit and I was excited to see that they knew what a CMP was. Quick service, well made Sunday, but does anyone know how to give proper change back? They appear to want to keep the place tidy and clean as I watched a young lady sweeping the parking lot. When the window got busy she went inside to help and went right back to work in the lot when she was not needed at the counter. This shows a great work ethic on her part and may be partly due to the training the business does. If so, well done! The prices are a little higher then I would expect, but not high enough to keep me from going back.

Dairy Palace was my favorite ice cream parlor to visit as a child, since my elementary school(which is now closed) was right nearby. Growing up, this was the place my softball coaches used to take our team for a treat after we’d played a good game. This was also where I would beg my mom to stop for a sweet treat once the weather warmed up. In this tradition, I talked my mom into stopping here for a treat to cap off the evening we’d spent at Longwood Gardens’ nightscape. We both ordered our old standbys – a medium peanut butter sundae with M&M’s for me, and a medium hot fudge sundae for her. To make mine even more special, I got mine with twist soft serve, instead of the standard vanilla. As was always the case when I used to visit, they were generous with the toppings, and the prices were quite reasonable($ 4.05 and $ 3.50). The composition was basically the same as I remembered, except that they’d switched from chopped regular sized M&Ms to miniature ones(good decision), and the peanut butter wasn’t warm, like it used to be(bad decision). My sundae was delicious, but there was just nothing like the combination of warm peanut butter and cool soft serve. This was the only place in town where I could get it, so I was very disappointed to learn that they’d discontinued the practice of keeping the PB sauce warm. PLEASEBRINGBACKTHEWARMPEANUTBUTTER!!! I know I can’t be the only one in town who misses it! I still think the sundaes here are great, but I can’t justify awarding a five star rating until I can get my warm PB fix again. Until then, I’ll just stick with a dipped cone, maybe rolled in sprinkles, or a hot fudge sundae as a substitute for my lust for warm PB.

Classic ice cream twist with rainbow sprinkles and a vanilla ice cream with chocolate cookie crumb for $ 6.55! Cash only, plenty of different sundaes to choose from, and plenty of parking too. They have treats for your furry friend but watch out in the summer as the asphalt might get too hot for their paws!

Great ice cream, friendly staff!!! CASHONLY!!! Just two flavors of soft serve, vanilla and chocolate, but that is all you need with the huge number of different sundaes, and a huge selection of candy to add into your sundae or shake. There is nowhere to sit down. So you will either be standing or eating in your car.

Aww Dairy Palace, not only a good place to get ice cream, but a landmark of the community. It is your typical ice cream place ran by local teens, and open only in the summer season. Reminds everyone of childhood, nothing fancy, just Ice cream!!!

My early memories of this place dates back to my childhood when my little league team would come here to celebrate a victory(thanks coach). I’ve been coming here for decades, literally. The best thing, the prices have not increased by much since my childhood. Where else can you get an ice cream cone with sprinkles for under $ 3.00, a banana split, or a large milk shake for under $ 5? The old saying, you get what you pay for is not true here. The prices are cheap, but the ice cream is ridiculously good and they don’t skip on the quantity. The milkshakes are magical. I love their banana shake. OMG! This shake is simply one of the best fatty, sweet treats I’ve ever tasted. They use real bananas and it shines through. The ice cream has a nice milk taste. The menu is expansive. The large ice cream cone is huge! If you order it on a hot summer day, be prepared for it to melt quickly, so be ready to eat it fast. Unfortunately, they are only open from the spring to the end of summer on the calendar. So, hurry up and get there before the summer is over. Ps. Cash only.

As I’m staring at the menu, the cashier pops her head out and says everything is good! I know, that’s why I can’t decide what I want. I went with a milkshake which was so thick, I had to enjoy it with a spoon. I had crushed Reece’s peanut butter cups in a chocolate/vanilla mix. The kids had cones with sprinkles(rainbow and chocolate). Nice old time feel with great staff!

Best ice cream spot ever! It’s been around since my father was a child. I have very fond childhood memories of coming here, sitting on the trunk of our car, and eating a baby cone with rainbow sprinkles. Now I get to share the experience with my nephew; him sitting on milk crates behind the stand slurping down a cone. If you’re from New Castle and never been to DP, you were very deprived! The banana milk shakes are out of this world! I hate not living close to this place.

I grew up riding my bicycle here. I no longer live in the neighborhood, but my car certainly finds its way here frequently! My fave still to this day is their super thick strawberry milkshake. Skip the lid, you’re gonna need the spoon they give you for sure. Save the straw for sucking every last delicious drop. Don’t forget to bring your four legged friends when you go. They have«pup cups». My dog loves to get one!

I got the cotton candy crunch cone and it was really good. You gotta eat it fast though! This is a cool place to order ice cream and hang around outside.

On a weekday afternoon, it’s not crowded. The menu requires a few minutes of study if you want to see all the items available. The ice cream is soft serve and worth the stop.

Old ice cream shop built in 1956. Amazing ice cream. If you live in new castle and have never been there, you’re living under a rock, it’s a summer must!

This place is great! The staff is always cheerful and friendly and there is a large assortment of sundaes, shakes and other menu items. The strawberry shakes have to be the best in Delaware, although I’m also partial to the peanut butter shakes. I would not go anywhere else, you definitely get your money’s worth!

I can not believe no one has reviewed Dairy Palace. Oh my GOD! I don’t live in DE any more but I had to come back and write a review since many of my child hood memories are from standing out in front of or in the parking lot of Dairy Palace on a warm summer afternoon slowly or hurriedly licking away at a massively large ice cream cone covered in rainbow jimmies. This place is usually packed in the evenings during the summer and people will wait patiently for a Dairy Palace ice cream cone, chocolate dipped cone, banana split, malt, shake, or whatever because the ice cream is SOOOOOOO good. And it’s cheap too. The parking can be kind of hectic but it’s worth all it once you start lapping away at your ice cream choice. Most people stand outside their cars because the ice cream starts to melt and no one wants to drip it in their cars. It may sound messy but it’s party of the fun and atmosphere of this little 5-star ice cream joint. I remember driving home from Battery park in New Castle and always stopping on the way home to get an ice cream. It’s right across from I think a military airport so you can’t miss it. Actually I encourage you NOT to miss it because you’ll be really sorry. Stop by and get a taste of an icon of DE. You should probably go into downtown Wilmington too to get a taste of Little Italy(pizza by the slice and water ice) or stop past Rita’s Water Ice and getchu sum!
