I read about Veganized in NJ Monthly, where they were listed as one of the 30 best new restaurants in NJ. I’m not a vegan, but I appreciate and enjoy vegan food and vegan ideology. Call me a hypocrite. I work in Somerset, so I decided to take the short trip over today and see what was up. It’s a hole in the wall located in downtown New Brunswick. You can sit upstairs for lunch or dinner, or pick up takeout downstairs(which I did). I ordered the Lentil Salad and added Tempeh. It was a colorful and flavorful salad! My favorite part was the cashew sour cream dressing, but the crunch from the pumpkin seeds stuck out as well. Everything was fresh and vibrant. My only criticism is that it came to almost $ 15 dollars, which is pretty expensive for a lunch salad; however, I will definitely be back to work my way through the menu!

This is a great place with fabulous vegan and organic food. Good casual atmosphere. A little pricey but worth the heathy options and time and care that goes into the preparations. Parking is not the best but the offered me car side for me next pickup — very cool. Very delicious !

Get their delux burger the best burger I have ever had. I am vegetarian and was unsure about this place because it was my first vegan restaurant but the food was amazing. Also get their bean dip soooooo yummy! They have seating at the top so just enter and walk up the stairs. The waiter I forget his name but he was so nice!

Hey!!! An all vegan place in NB, FINALLY! Veganized is very unique. Just looking over their menu, you can tell some very creative and thoughtful people are behind the scenes here. It isn’t a typical menu — there are some creative risks and experimentation, and I appreciate that a lot. For instance, I had a wrap with fried polenta, pesto, bean spread, broccoli rabe and picked beets. Like, what an interesting concept! The prices and portions are still a little wonky. For instance, a $ 6 side of sweet potato wedges — I would say about 8 wedges in a tiny bowl. That’s less than what I can concoct with a single sweet potato in my own home. I recommend staying away from the simple things like that — and go for the more creative, interesting dishes you cannot make at home. Servers were incredibly personable and sweet. I am excited to come back and try new things!

I’m so glad this place lived up to my expectations. I was walking by the unfinished space for so many months, dreaming of the wonderful vegan food New Brunswick was lacking. Great menu and great service. So far we have tried the burgers and the reuben. I’ll update as we try more. The delivery has been quick and seamless, and I love that they have made it possible to deliver through Unilocal,as this helps us remember they are there if it’s been a while and we’re just hungrily browsing what’s in the neighborhood. UPDATE: The Italiano wrap is absolutely delicious, and the sweet potato wedges are as tasty and craveable as fries, with an amazing dipping sauce. Yum!

This place is heaven. Allow me to explain… First, the food is out of this world. Every morsel. Every time. Don’t let the idea of a vegan place fool you, each meal here is like a gourmet experience. The dishes are made from numerous high quality ingredients, curated and prepared to perfection, and plated in a visually appealing way. Some of my favorites are: «Off the Grill» — grilled mushrooms «Deluxe Burger» — I like the gluten-free bread «Sweet Potato Wedges» — with cashew cream «Banh Mi» — tofu & avocado sandwich There are tons of other great items, you would be hard pressed to go wrong. Plus there are often special entrees available. They serve complimentary fruit/herb infused water, it’s delicious. Next up is the service — warm and inviting. Good vibes — love it. I have seen all customer demographics there. Have also overheard meat eaters rave about their meal. You won’t find another vegan place in the area operating at this level. Its that good. Seriously. Enjoy!

Summary: FIlling food but extremely overpriced, gimmicky, and not particularly healthy. Chaotic service. Would not want to eat here regularly. Food is overly dependent on these substitutes for non vegan foods: tempeh, cashew cream, and overcooked mushrooms. They go to that well way too often. Little embracing of fresh whole foods. Embrace the vegetables! I guess«veganized» is an appropriate name for what they do to some«traditional» dishes, but they really don’t give vegan ingredients a chance to shine on their own merit. Filling but overall not what I was looking for and certainly not what we paid for. I think a lot of people are probably glad/surprised they left filled, after thinking a vegan dinner would be bark and sand, but just being filled doesn’t mean it was five star food. I can fill up on vegan food with a $ 2 bag of potato chips. Not to harp on the grotesque prices(you can easily break $ 200 on a dinner for four… and that’s with no alcohol!)… I mean, I get it… it’s a restaurant and you are paying to be entertained, but for those prices you expect high-end restaurant service, not«You might want to hold on to your silverware for the next course, [and I guess just rest them here on this bare tabletop that doesn’t really look that clean, and no I’m not going to bring you another paper napkin].» Ridiculous. I had originally given three stars but it really is a rip off to be charged these prices and then get the service equivalent of sitting at the counter of a greasyspoon. Charging $ 8 for a lemonade that is not, as we assumed, house made, but actually a resold bottled drink takes a LOT of nerve. Wall art unique, but music wildly inappropriate(even for a hipster vegan place). If you want to try this place regardless of the price, do yourself a favor and order ahead for takeout… and stay away from the drinks and their mushroom appetizer, which the waiter recommended but was really just three woody stems swimming in oil(for $ 9). The timbale appetizer seemed very good and at a fair price. Re: The sweet potato wedges. Baked well but very plain. Not served with cashew cream but rather an emulsion of cashew cream and oil… basically mayonnaise. I know fries with mayo may be all the rage, but like much of the food here, not what I’m looking for when I go to a vegan restaurant. If I want diner food I’ll go to a diner and pay ¼ the price.

Great vegan restaurant! NJ really needed it. Lots of raw options, a nice mix of original dishes and classic vegan dishes you’d expect. I had a lentil salad, a ‘rawsagna’ and crispy fried, and I’d recommend everything. The service was excellent, though there was a bit of a wait even though we were the only table in the restaurant. They did mention everything was made from scratch on the spot, however, so I guess that’s reasonable.

The best food I’ve had since a long long time! Timbale, Italiano, colors of fall and the most amazing — 14Karat cake… Brilliant presentation of food and even better taste!

If there was a sixth star I would give it to this place. This place is heaven for vegetarians. If you believed veg food outside in the restaurants isn’t good both in presentation and taste, you got to try this place to change your opinion forever. If there are a few more places like this for vegetarians I would convert into vegetarians. All organic and natural food. Amazing blend of tastes and super friendly staff. Hidden in a street behind George street where all the actions happen. Thanks to Unilocal,I found it coz of the reviews. Otherwise I would have never come across this place. For some reason my best friend and I were craving salads today. Strange for us as we are definitely meat lovers! I searched salad places in New Brunswick and this was one of the first thing that came up and I’m definitely glad. I had the lentil salad and my friend had the quinoa salad. They were actually pretty refreshing but could just use some more dressing. We also got a side of sweet potato wedges and it was a little misleading but we definitely got what it sounds like — they are just wedges of yam with an actually pretty sour cashew sour cream. The wedges could have used a little bit of salt and pepper if nothing else. Probably won’t ever get those again, but the rest of the menu did look great and I heard the deluxe burger is amazing so I’ll definitely be back! Want to come back on the weekend and try their brunch menu too! Also, the waiter was extra extra friendly! It’s easy to miss on Spring Street as there is not really any large sign on the outside of the building, but definitely a place to try.

Veganized is a destination restaurant. Every meal I’ve eaten here is thoughtful, made with care and creativity. It’s a good date spot too, quiet, with nice light. I dream about the rawvioli!

The only place in town to get fresh vegan food made to order, and it’s really good to boot. I should make it clear that I’m a carnivore, so way to go guys! Unfortunately, their dishes are way too expensive. If it gave off more of a sit down restaurant vibe, I could justify it more, but it’s basically just a take out counter with a dining«area» upstairs. Plus if I eat there again my meatball of a boyfriend may leave me.

I am back and glad. No Ruby Tuesday for this road warrior. No Lipitor needed. Eat here and your total cholesterol will plumet and you will be stroke and heart attack proof. Each time I get something different, all fantastic and so well prepared. The Thomas Kellerer of vegan and healthy foods right here in Piscataway NJ. Dimetri is my usual server, but I must say the huge and helpful personality of Ruby and her guidance made the dining experience fantastic!!! AGAIN!!! It’s not customer service or patronage at this place it’s all around great dining and hospitality.

Great food and price. I ate here twice and both times were outstanding. Try the Mac and cheese. Veggi burger and cheese cake for dessert. Hard to believe such a great place that’s not in CA! This is the type of place where the chef really does his best. I came in and asked for something not on the menu and he made it! Don’t expect this service but it gives a great example of their pride and customer service. Also I was surprised they remembered my name. I’m from out of town and never was here until this week!

At first I was afraid I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live without meat by my side But then I spent so many nights Thinking how steak did me wrong And I grew strong And I learned quinoa’s not so wrong And so I sit here, hungry In this cute space I just walked in, was sat upstairs Figuring this was food I would distaste I should have known lentils would rock I should have tried that pea purée If I had known for just one second That Vegan food and I’d agree And so now, since walking through that door I feel so good now No fears of tempeh anymore No longer thinking cashew cheese must be the devil in disguise Or Seitan crumble Shocked I didn’t fall down and die Oh no, not I I did survive As long as I still try new things I know I’ll stay alive I’ve got all my life to live And 5 big stars I have to give ’Cause I survived Yes I survived Hey hey

Let me start off by saying, I am not a Vegan. I stumbled across this restaurant since I had to be on a low iodine diet and didn’t have any other choices. I am happy I did come here though. The owners and staff are from Brooklyn and they are very friendly! The vibe is great here! I respect this place a lot because everything is made from scratch. I know I can get myself a healthy meal here. I normally get their mushroom appetizer, and for an entrée I get the black beans, with polenta, avocado, corn and kale. If you’re Vegan, then I am sure you have already been to this place. If you’re not Vegan like me, but need a break from meat every once in a blue moon, then be sure to check this place out!

Stopped in here last night because I just didn’t feel like driving home in rush hour. So glad I did! Upon entering, I thought I would sit at the counter in the first floor, but three waitstaff(two were training) came down the stairs and encouraged me to sit in the upstairs dining room. They were so welcoming and asked me my name. First, I was poured a glassed yummy fruit and mint infused water. Perusing the menu, I saw so many delicious-sounding items on that I had trouble choosing what to order! I settled on the lentil salad($ 9) with avocado added(always, even for $ 3 extra) and the roasted sweet potato wedges($ 6). I like the upstairs dining room, which has a large window overlooking the street. I was one of four other diners, which I guess isn’t too bad for a random Tuesday night. The restaurant seems to do a good amount of takeout. My salad arrived first, and I thought it was the perfect size — could be an appetizer or a meal with a side or something else. The flavors were fresh and bright, and the cashew sour cream was tangy. Then the sweet potatoes arrived — they even brought a bowl of extra wedges! I didn’t like the creamy sauce served with it, but a waiter was happy to give me ketchup. Overall, the food was delicious, and all the employees were so friendly. I will definitely return to try more dishes!

Just ate lunch here after finding out that a new vegan fair restaurant has opened near me! The infused water is a nice touch! Timbale appetizer is a must. Deluxe burger is good as well but I couldn’t finish the whole burger, very filling! I thought the sweet potatoes tasted undercooked but I think that’s the texture they were going for. The dipping cashew sauce the sweet potato wedges came with was amazing. Sweet staff and cute location. Will be back!
