moderately large(75 acre) city park with a primarily exercise emphasis. there is a 1.5 mile loop running path, soccer and baseball/softball fields, basketball and tennis courts and the historic Buccleuch Mansion, which is on a hill overlooking the Raritan River, open for touring from 2 – 4 pm on Sundays in summer. in winter time the park allows snow sledding on the steep hill near the riverside portion of the park(but there is a busy road between the hill and the river, don’t sled into it!). this park is right next to Rutgers University so on every visit I am overwhelmed by an awe inspiring menagerie of nubile collegiate female beauties, which makes me want to return as soon as possible. for running purposes a portion of the loop has moderate up and downhill and one can easily connect with the trail across the route 18 bridge to the big park on the piscataway side of the river or to the D&R canal trail via the Landing Lane bridge to make this part of a longer more varied run … this park is quite popular, on a nice day plenty of people playing frisbee and such in addition to the more regulated sports.
