Just prior to attending the Mardi Gras event at one of New Britain’s museums, our party of 4 stopped by New Britain Diner Restaurant for a quick bite, as we had all neglected to eat dinner. As soon as we entered, the hostess nonchalantly mentions that we should ignore any screaming from the bathroom… My thoughts: what were we walking into?! We were seated and ordered an assortment of entrees, which were delivered in massive portions. While the food was unimpressive, the 5⁄5 stars are for the memorable staff at this diner! Verdict: I’m so glad we stopped here!

Mom-pa shop, good and cozy place for breakfast. Had eggs with bacon, paired with seasoned cooked potato and bread. Good food!

A fast casual sit down restaurant that is not going to win any awards for inventive dishes but if you are looking for a place to get some good comfort food at an affordable price, the New Britain Diner is a good choice. Whether it’s 3pm or 3am you can get your breakfast, lunch and dinner fix and get it all served by one of the many hard working waitresses whom I am sure see their fair share of characters come through the doors. Clean and comfortable — it’s like sitting down and eating at your kitchen table but without the preparation or cleanup.

Awesome Diner! Disco Fries are awesome! Disco Fries are French fries with melted American cheese and gravy! Don’t forget the extra gravy!

I love bringing people here, everyone is always shocked at how fast the food comes to your table. And it’s not just hot food, but it’s always really good too! If you like lemon meringue pie, try it!

Definitely try the M&M pancakes, those were pretty good and I was a bit skeptical but very good. Order from the menu when you first walk in. They have some good combo plates that are not in the menu. Small parking lot but never too busy to where you’ll never be able to park. I’ve been here 3 times and it’s been good time.

Food tasted okay, but I got really sick and so did my business partner. It was the only option that late at night(we just flew into town). I wish I had waited until morning.

Although the food is decent-to-good, depending on what you order and time and day you go — I like to order out half the time because I reside close to the diner and it’s convenient. Anyway, quarter-to-half the time I try to order out, the lady is busy with another costumer or so, and puts me on «hold»(puts phone down) and forgets all about it. I either hang on for 5 minutes and never get to place my order, or hang up after 2 minutes of listening to her talk to other people besides me, and try to call back for another 40 or more minutes just to hear a busy signal. They either need another line, or a new phone, or let me search online for the manager’s direct number so I can place the order with him since people in the front don’t care to take it. This has happened WAY too many times.

Our favorite spot! Every food item I have ever ordered has been incredible! I go with family and friends. Love that it’s 24 hours. We never have to rush. Love Emily in the morning and Never at night! Great spot, great staff, great food!

Not good at all. Ordered my hash browns extra crispy. They tasted like they’d been cooked the day before and put on the grill for 2 minutes. No flavor and not crispy at all; more like mashed potatoes. My bacon tasted like it had been baked early in the morning and warmed up before it hit my plate. Sorry, but I’d rather wait extra time for a good meal than have the restaurant cut corners and give me crap! My boyfriend ordered steak and eggs. He got a very fatty piece of steak with absolutely no flavor on it. I expect to get what I pay for when dining out. There are a ton of better places around where you can get a better meal.

As someone who has had my fair share of employment as a server, customer service is the most important part of the dining experience regardless of the restaurant type. I ordered a milk shake to start, and right off the bat, it took the waitress 3 tries to make me a milk shake instead of chocolate milk. She handled it well, apologizing for her repetitive mistakes. Then, ordering our meal become a battle of her poor ethnocentrism when a member of our party asked if she had tried the pot roast. She had to explain that she was a vegetarian and the rest of her life story instead of responding that she simply had not tried the dish. When it was my turn to order, the server acted offended that I had ordered the prime rib, rare. She refused to tell me the vegetable and potato choices of the day, as if I was inconveniencing her. For a moment I was unsure if I was taking her order or if she was taking mine. By the end of taking our order, she had rolled her eyes more than she had paid attention. Our drinks were filled regularly by the busser and hostess, and our chicken wings appetizer was served quickly. The appetizer was cold by the time we got the attention of the hostess, asking if we could have plates and cutlery. However the appetizer was still very good, and the hostess was kind enough to ask if we were okay with our food coming out despite us just getting our appetizer. My prime rib came out well done, not rare at all. When I confronted the server about it she responded by saying, ‘that’s as rare as it gets’. I explained to her that if they can not offer the prime rib in any other form but well done, it would be much appreciated to know this information when placing my order. After a lengthy argument, she scoffed and took the dish from me asking what I would prefer to order instead. I politely replied that I was not interested in putting in another order. Another person in my party ordered the stuffed peppers, and shortly sent them back to the kitchen once realizing she could not consume a plate of peppers floating in tomato sauce. The other person in my party could not eat her pot roast, so I shared the dish with her. Once we got over the fact that the meat, vegetables and potatoes were cold, the meal was pretty good. The end of the meal came quickly, and the waitress never came back to our table. The hostess delivered our check and the busser removed our entrees. We tipped the busser personally, as he was the highlight of our meal, and left with a disappointing and frustrating taste in our mouth. This establishment should consider hiring servers who do not deliver good service when customers order dishes that the server does not agree with due to her personal preferences.

Was coerced to come to New Britain to meet for a working breakfast meeting. I was impressed. Sometimes Diners can be a little iffy, but was really impressed with the meal. Ordered the breakfast special which was the french toast, eggs, bacon… a little pricey for what I got but it is a reliable place for a good meal. It was very busy and the waitress was very nice and paid us attention. This is conveniently located off of RT9. I would return.

What do you want from a diner? Me, I want a clean place, with quick food — particularly breakfast — at reasonable prices. A nice waitress is a bonus. Fortunately, at New Britain Diner, you get it all. Went in recently for some eggs, bacon and potatoes with coffee. It was about as expensive as a Panera meal — yet with much more satisfying results. And the food came out SUPER fast. Is it gourmet? No. Is it glamorous? No, it’s seen better days. But it’s a solid diner and in these parts, that’s plenty good enough.

I’ve been to this place on a few times with the most recent on New Year’s Day. Six of us were hungry(and slightly hung over) and wanted some grub after a fun night at the apartment. We drove around 10 a.m. and got seated and served immediately. I ordered my Eggs Benedict with home fries and was immediately satisfied. Home fries were soft, yet not too greasy. You can always count on them being open 24⁄7 and consistently giving great service to all customers, whether sober or drunk Their coffee is pretty good too, and BOTTOMLESS :)! So fill up on the coffee!

First and foremost, this is a diner. The food is typical diner fare, and the environment is typical for an American diner. However, the food was very fresh, and quite well prepared. Service was satisfactory and friendly. The first thing I noticed though, was that the flatware wasn’t regular diner/cafeteria stuff. It was decent stuff of good quality. I know that seems like a really odd thing to notice, but it’s the kind of thing that makes an impression upon me. This place has everything you’d expect from a diner.

First of all, fear not the title. The New Britain Diner is not in the heart of get-shotsville. It’s just off the highway, adjacent to one of New Britain’s nicer neighborhoods. The inside is pretty nice too, as far as diners go, a pleasant place to sit, congregate, and have a cheap meal. The food is very good, as good as one could expect for a diner. Though I yet to have that«signature dish» that will keep me coming back for decades, they make some pretty mean breakfasts, sandwiches, and burgers. And the portions… fuggedaboutit. Order an omelet, and you’ll get one the size of your forearm. REALLY good waitstaff too. Throw away your preconeived notions of inept non-English speakers with anger issues when you come to this place. Most every time we’ve been here, we’ve been waited on by a pleasant woman or fellow who knows what he/she is doing. Convenient, cheap, and plenty of parking. Check it out sometime when you’re in the area.

Perfect diner food and perfect diner prices. I would recommend it if you’re looking for that classic diner feel.
