Great brisket. That’s where it starts and ends at rudy’s. Do not order the ribs. This is Texas, not Alabama, Mississippi or Tennessee. Pork is not part of their expertise. Brisket is good enough to keep coming back. Just don’t forget you’re in Texas where pork ribs just don’t make it.

Stopped by this weekend on my usual pilgrimage from Dallas for the July 4 weekend. Brisket is the best here along with the iced tea. Stopped by again & not impressed that there was no one at the front cash register for directions and when they finally came they were none too happy.

Excellent brisket — moist & flavorful. Sausage is quite tasty. Green chili was interesting but not our cup of tea. They have bbqsauce that is vinegary so not exactly my palate. Basic menu to address your bbq craving. Something for every meat lover is there.

½ lb brisket sausage(skin was tough) potato salad, beans, jalapeño, and pickles. Ice tea and wheat bread. $ 18 for lunch. A bit pricey I think but I don’t eat at Rudy’s very often. It is good but not great. Good smoke flavor on meat. Like the iced down drinks as you walk up to place order. Red Flash at soda dispenser.

Stopped here on our travel through Texas. We were originally going to Salt Lick, but flooded streets blessed us to come to this scrumptious ovation for BBQ. Orders at by the pound so we decided to order up the beef brisket, pork ribs and sausage. Ribs were similar to what you get at any rib place, but the food worthy of mention are the beef brisket. Upon visual inspection you can tell there was a lot of love given to them. By their thick cuts and upon biting them you appreciate the tenderness and rich smoke flavor in the meat. Definitely worth stopping in for BBQ. Also as a side you have to try the sweet cream corn. Don’t be a sissy and get the mild BBQ sauce try their spiced up flavor! Bön appetite!

My family and I came here when we were on vacation. We spent a long, exhausting day at Schlitterbahn, and were on our way back to our hotel in San Antonio when we saw a sign for the Home of the Worst BBQ. We were colored intrigued, and went to go check it out for dinner. I was definitely not disappointed. I wasn’t feeling the BBQ too much(we were vacationing in Texas– I was barbecued out!), so I opted for the turkey sandwich($ 5.49) with a side of coleslaw($ 2.09). This remains as one of the best turkey sandwiches I’ve ever had. It had a great smoky flavor, and it was ridiculously moist. I still have cravings for this stupid sandwich, and sadly none of the BBQ places up here near Chicago have turkey that measures up. The atmosphere was great, simply Texan through and through(at least how this Yankee imagines it to be). It was crowded and loud, but in a pleasant sort of way. It wasn’t too loud or uncomfortable. The staff/service wasn’t anything to write home about, but it wasn’t the worst I’ve had either. They seemed really busy and no nonsense, and not very friendly. But, they were pretty quick, so I can’t really complain too much.

The food is good but the customer service could use some improvement. After a long day of Schlitterbahn, I brought my family here for dinner. The place was packed and there was a lot of people in line. When we were almost next in line to order, we quickly grabbed a pint of coleslaw and potato salad from the fridge and then the cashier started calling us to order. He gave us an annoyed expression on his face because we didn’t come up immediately. As we ordered, I felt very rushed. There was no smile on this guys face, no friendly gesture, nothing. We were all just like a hungry herd going through a feeding troth. I got to admit, the BBQ wasn’t a let down. We ordered moist brisket, half chicken, ribs, pint of beans, pint of coleslaw, pint of potato salad, and a little cup of cream corn. All the food was good and my family still enjoyed the meal. I recommend ordering at least a pound of moist brisket for each person. The ½ lb. is not enough for one person. Also make sure you ask for(free) bread to go with your food — they have white and whole wheat.

Fuel your body all day with some great(and cheap) bkft tacos here. They open at 7:00am. Zipped in with no wait. Loaded tacos only $ 2.25 each. I’d highly recommend the spicy chopped brisket + eggs + potato + cheese. Top it off with Sissy Sauce and you’ll be tubing all day until dinner. Rock on!

Bbq is decent. Quick service. Attached gas station, which makes grabbing a bite on the road super easy.

Didn’t knock my socks off, but for what it was it was good. Atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Left satisfied.

The brisket was mediocre at best… it was dry and contained no flavor. The bbq sauce, did not help, actually made it worse. The cole slaw and new potatoes were bland with no flovor. Additionally, it’s hard to call it a bbq with the lack of sides… namely collard or turnip greens. I was disappointed, this was the first time which the majority of Unilocal reviewers let me down.

Great smokey brisket. Peppery turkey. Pulled pork a bit lame compared to brisket and turkey. Should have listened to server. Excellent baked beans. A place to return when in the area.

I really didn’t care for this place, my turkey was dry and cold, and the new potatoes flavorless. the only reason for two stars instead of one was because my husband like his brisket baked potato, and the cole slaw was good.

I LOVE Rudy’s! We moved away from Texas and miss Rudy’s every time we want BBQ. This location gets pretty busy. It’s right on the loop by Schlitterbahn traffic and river traffic. During the summers getting food here can be kind of a nightmare. But if you’re from NB, you can enjoy it anytime! The food is always consistently delicious. They do move through the line semi quick when it’s busy. Lot’s of seating. Wide variety of sides to chose from, with a good mix of hot and cold options. Love their sweet tea and spicy BBQ sauce.

It’s a tough call to make: Cooper’s or Rudy’s Both have wonderful attributes. Meanwhile, we normally choose Rudy’s because of the consistency, value, friendly staff and great tasting meats. I’m not sure anyone could complain about this Rudy’s. They do everything well. Everything. I’m partial to their turkey, pork and lean brisket and Rudy’s never fails to impress with each bite, especially with a drizzle of sissy sauce. As for the baby back ribs, they meat falls right off the bone and they are tender with great flavor. As for the pork ribs, they sure are fatty, but pork ribs are suppose to be this way, so don’t freak out when they come with fat on them. Whereas at the Austin locations you can’t get green chili stew, this location has it, and it’s awesome! I order a small each time, and of course, the chocolate and banana pudding is wonderful and has no calories, right? Great place for lunch or dinner and it’s no secret among locals or those headed to the river to raft or tube for the day. On the road to the fun, it’s always packed.

Going to Schlitterbahn? STOPHEREFIRST! Breakfast tacos after any amount of time on I-35 feel like a reset button. You can get custom ones or grab-and-go. I’m all about warm cheese, eggs, and bacon. Stock up on cold soda, eye up the pudding, enjoy the restrooms. You can bring your cooler into the park, so why not get some last minute treats? Ample seating, friendly folks, and ziplock bags that you can stuff with jalapenos? Yeah, this is how we roll in Texas.

Great BBQ, but ya better like peppery taste. Sausage, chicken, brisket, ribs, it’s all here, Drown it in some Rudy’s sause and you got yourself a meal. You can eat in ir order from the take out window. I’m not too fond of dessert choices of pudding but if that’s my only complaint I guess that’s ok. You can has up here too, price is comparable to what u pay else where. Sausage breakfast tacos r great!
