I thank the Google for finding this place for me. We were driving from San Antonio up to Austin and were in dire need of some breakfast tacos. This little piece of heaven provided us with homemade tortillas and authentic flavors. The green salsa was perfect. My husband had to drag me out of there amid protests that I needed a few more tacos for the road…

Very good breakfast tacos fresh and homemade tortillas. Great hot sauce. We enjoyed the enchilada plate for lunch.

This is my second visit to El Norteno… it’s situated nicely on the west side where some of the best Mexican food in New Braunfels comes from. El Norteno gets 4 stars for their made from scratch tortillas! I mean they are SO good… check out my pictures… look at those tortilla edges! My one attempt at making tortillas years ago looked like states too but never tasted that good. My sister had the carne guisada and found some tough pieces(she still gobbled it up) and my picadillo was just salted hamburger meat(I still liked it though lol). Once I tried my Dad’s cheese enchiladas and sister’s mini tacos and everything was very good. This is a hole in the wall in every sense of the description but it provides a pleasant secluded dining experience(for us hermits). A lot of people were coming in and out during our meal which says a lot!

Great, cheap, simple little place. Not much to look at and difficult to communicate with waitstaff sometimes, but no big deal. Breakfast tacos are ALWAYS wonderful. Perfect size and homemade tortillas. Chile(salsa) is fresh, green and spicy! Perfect! Had to try lunch since breakfast tacos are always perfect and was pleasantly surprised. Rice, beans, enchilada sauce and meat are very flavorful. Barbacoa is probably the best in town too! Never had a complaint about their food. Go try it!

I had a hankering for New Years Menudo and El Norteno delivered! I’ve got quite a few local Mexican Restaurants to choose from, but on New Years Day, my decision was based solely on availability of the delicious soup. Homemade corn and flour tortillas? Yup, they got em’! My wife wasn’t as happy with her food… claims the beans aren’t very good. Give it a try and see for yourself!
