We had a wonderful experience with One Step Up. Roger Menard, who I believe to be the owner, was friendly, responsive, and answered all questions in advance of our move promptly via email. They were also among the most reasonable quotes we got for an interstate move from VT to NH. A couple of notes to the point of the other reviewer: I’ve used professional movers for years and multiple moves. Hourly minimums or flat rates for a set number of hours are not uncommon. They ensure a minimum paycheck for the movers, even if they do an efficient job. They ran about 45 minutes late from the scheduled time of arrival, but things happen. They hit unexpected traffic etc. They arrived exactly at the updated time they gave me on the phone. James and Bryce, both young guys, worked hard from start to finish. They loaded in our entire 2 bedroom apartment in an hour and a half. They made the drive to NH in 3 hours, despite construction and a 16 foot moving truck. It took us a solid 2.5 hours by car. Upon arrival here, they had the entire apartment unloaded in less than 3 hours despite multiple flights of stairs working non-stop on a very hot, June afternoon. They were friendly, polite, appropriately conversational, and very diligent. Cash and check are expected as payment at the end of the move. To my knowledge, no credit cards accepted. I would highly recommend One Step Up for interstate moving needs!

i chose one step moving for my recent move and god, what a mistake that was. don’t get me wrong– the guys(in their early 20’s and quite scrawny– it was surprising that they do this line of work) were great and fast. the problem? they were THREEHOURSLATE of our appointed time. besides that, they had trouble finding my apartment(the one i was moving out of) — they ended up parking right in the parking lot but then decided they must have the address wrong; my mom and i had to literally try to flag them down when they passed by. again i do not blame the guys who moved me(they were efficient and very accommodating). my beef is with the owner. even though they were THREE hours late, the most the owner could do was shave off a mere $ 25. off the quoted price. the killer was that they insisted on charging me a flat rate, when, if they had charged me by their hourly rate, i would have ended up paying MUCH less(the movers completed the move in all of an hour and a half total, whereas the flat rate included THREE hours. i’d recommend other movers or doing it yourself.
