Descriptive phrase: family-friendly suburban grill. I’ve been to Charcoal Grill & Rotisserie and number of times. It’s location perched atop a small hill(where did that hill come from in all this flat land?), back in a woody area gives it a rustic feel. This is continued inside with lots of wood decorated with plenty of Wisconsin gear. My most recent visit was for lunch with a coworker. We sat out on their porch, which is through the bar and gives a nice view of a grassy area and a busy street. You’re set far enough back, though, that it’s not unpleasant. The patio only has about 5 small tables, and it’s all cheap plastic(my chair-arm was busted), but it’s technically off the bar so it needn’t be as nice as the dining area inside. Our waitress was nice, and didn’t bother us besides asking our orders and serving our food. Simple and fast, which is nice for a business lunch. I ordered the Ranch Chicken Sandwich($ 8.29) with waffle fries and wood-grilled chicken. The chicken breast itself may have been a bit dry, but the ranch dressing, bacon, and Jack cheese in each bite offset this. A perfectly fine sandwich, and the right size. The waffle fries, like the sandwich, were good but not great. This has pretty much been my experience with Charcoal Grill & Rotisserie; good but not great grill food and atmosphere. A destination? No, but perfectly adequate if you’re in the area.

Not bad. Not great, but not bad. Charcoal Grill is better than your Applebee’s or your TGI Friday’s(with the exception of Front Row Friday’s) or most of the other suburban eateries. Don’t expect to have a mind-blowing meal, but for a good burger, or decent rotisserie chicken, for the price, you won’t be disappointed. My wife and I ordered a pizza, ½ rotisserie chicken, and four beers. Total cost: $ 34.00. The nicest thing about this location is the parking lot. You almost feel like you are«up north.» Great landscaping making for nice views from your table. I like the face that they haven’t loaded all their walls with kitchy crap ie. Famous Dave’s, or the Machine Sheed. I’ve always found the help to be nice and service better than average for this type of place. I appreciate the fact that they use a wood oven for the pizza’s. It makes for a great crust. «Out in the ‘burbs,» you could do much worse.

Wanted to like this place. Really did. But after waiting 10 minutes for waitress to even acknowledge us, the Rotisserie chicken was very dry. When waitress asked how everything was we told her. She offered to bring something else but admitted all the other rotisserie chicken would probably also be dry so we said no thanks. When we got the bill she charged us $ 3 extra for all white meat. We did not order all white meat! Paid the bill and just left — cannot recommend.

Love this place! Casual atmosphere, great food, portions, prices, and specials! My husband and I like a place we can go after work in our jeans and t-shirts. Even just an appetizer and a beer can make for a good time. Also the burgers are A+!

We’ve eaten at the Charcoal Grill for years. We’ve watched them decrease in size, but were never disappointed in the food. It’s been a while since we’ve been there and now we know why. We returned tonight for the last time. The soups were terrible, the salad was literally iceburg lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes and 2 slices of cucumber. The waitress was not at all attentive, not remembering to bring refills for all that asked for them. I never got my side of tartar sauce. They were dead for a Friday night and had to wait a long time for everything. We will not be returning. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

I’m bumping two stars from my review for Charcoal Grill in New Berlin. We have eaten here numerous occasions and have no problems with the restaurant food, service, atmosphere or prices. HOWEVER: We were planning to go with Charcoal Grill for our caterer for our upcoming wedding. We liked their banquet room downstairs and the had everything we needed, for the right price, in a great location, and we already knew we liked the food. The issues came up when we were working with their manager. He was next to impossible to get a hold of via phone or email, so we muddled our way through our questions with him over the course of a month or two, then made an appointment a few weeks in advance to meet in person. We were ready to sign a contract, pending the right answers to our final questions. Well the date and time of the appointment came. We arrived exactly on time, and were greeted promptly by a hostess who went to get the manager for us. An assistant manager returned, telling us that the manager had stepped out just moments ago, but that he should be returning shortly. In the meantime, he said he could show us the space one more time and answer our questions as best he could. We were put off, but agreed to continue. This guy was great, and answered most of our questions. However, we had questions about liquor that he couldn’t answer. Thirty minutes passed, and no manager. The assistant wrote our questions down and told us he’d give them to the manager personally, and that we should be hearing from him soon. We left disgruntled. We never heard from the manager(still haven’t to this day). After waiting another couple of weeks and giving him a follow-up email and phone call, we abandoned all hope and looked elsewhere. We have now happily booked our reception dinner at the Country Inn & Suites(with Champps catering) across the street.

My husband, daughter and I went there last night for dinner. My husband and I had the fish fry. They offered a basket with 4 small pieces of fish, for $ 1.50 extra you can get the all you can eat for $ 2 or so extra you could get the all you can eat with choice of sides. We didn’t feel it was necessary to pay extra for a choice of sides. We had the waffle fries and coleslaw. The fish was good, flaky, it could have been a tad bit hotter. Fries were good, I am not a fan of the coleslaw, it tastes like deli coleslaw. I think it was the dressing they use. Our server could have been more attentive on our drink refills. My hubby and I drink iced tea and he sat with an empty glass for quite awhile until I summoned I believe was the manager. He brought them right away. We did ask for more fish and got 2 pieces each which was enough for me. That did come fast. We were not asked if we wanted appetizer or dessert. Our bill came, we payed and left. Over all it was a good experience and we enjoy eating there.

They have a pretty sweet breakfast buffet, at least on Sundays. Scrambled eggs, omelet bar, Eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit. It can all be yours, as much as your heat desires, or as much as your heart can handle(some of that stuff is high cholesterol). The service is pretty good. Although sometimes certain things run out on the buffet and it could be a little while before they are replaced. The bloody mary isn’t quite right. It is from a mix, which has something a little off(too much Worcestershire? not a good hot sauce?), but i can’t quite place what it is.

Their daily or weekly specials change, but the deals are still pretty good. I am sad to see they are no longer advertising my favorite ½ aprice appetizer and drinks specials. The family ate appetizer style for dinner; spinach & artichoke dip, bacon wrapped water chestnuts, quesadillas and nachos. Insider tip, order a cup of chili and dump that on the nachos. BAMMM, better nachos! All of their appetizers are just a-okay. I always enjoy the regular menu food a little more. Appetizers have a way of leaving me feeling like I ate have a ton of deep fried butter… but that’s because most apps are a little heavy on the fat content. My center of gravity may have shifted, but not because dinner rocked my world. But it sure did give my stomach something to talk a out all night.

Chicken — good, South of the Border plate — good, Roadhouse Burger — good, Fish Sandwich — not so good. Fish was over cooked, but mgr replaced. BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich instead. We have a winner. Service was good, she was sometimes in her own little world, but manager was quick to handle poorly cooked fish issue.

Food is always good and I happily get exactly what I order… unlike the one that used to be off hwy 100& Edgerton(which is now Brisco County Grill who have picked up where the old CG left off… bad service, incorrect food). I don’t understand why it’s so empty every time we go. Don’t get me wrong, I like not having to wait an hour for a table… but the food and service are both good… is this our hidden gem?

total dump. great location, huge outdoor deck. jerk off wait staff. bartender didn’t know how to make a margarita, acted like a recovering meth addict. food was mediocre. staff seemed more concerned about texting then working, you can tell the manager is a complete failure in life for letting a good location go to waste.

Great happy hour and good patio. They also have $ 1 Schlitz taps 24⁄7. We go here and the tab is never large at all. I have also had the pizza which is made in a brick oven. DELICIOUS! I recommend more for the after work happy hour but if you are hungry it is also a good place.

Their pizza is best if it sits for a bit. Say, order for pick up and by the time you get it home, it’ll be great. Their weekly specials are good. Mondays are buy one burger get one half off. And they are pretty good! Tuesday is a pasta/pizza buffet. Wednesday I believe kids get a discount. And the Friday Fish Fry is great. Their Sunday brunches are amazing. Everything you could possibly want on a Sunday brunch, they’ll have. They even offer made to order omelets. Parking is a bit tricky as you have to drive up a steep hill. Not really what a person in a Wisconsin winter looks forward to. The lower lot is for reserved events. But overall, I would recommend this place.

The building here is cursed with a poor location. It’s hard to see from the road and this just keeps many from realizing it is even there. I think this has something to do with the fact that this building has been at least 3 different restaurants now in the last ten years. Now, onto the review of the current restaurant that calls this building home: Charcoal Grill. It is a local Southeastern Wisconsin chain, so it has that feel, however this building is different than the others. This place adopted the interior design of the last place, kind of a cabin in the woods type feel. It’s actually almost beautiful inside, with stone fireplaces and all wood furnishings. A good thing about it being tucked back away from the road is the fact that there is pleasant wooded scenery outside of the windows. The waitress was on top of her game and the food was that of a middle class chain restaurant. Not bad, not amazing, just good. Nothing really stands out here, but at the same time if you are just looking for a place to get lunch with the family, this place would be worth checking out. Helpful tip: If you can, try to get yourself a booth along either wall of windows for the(unusual for a chain restaurant) view.
