I am not allowed to comment on this location if I have a relation with the owner or employees. Well I don’t think I do now since its been over 10 years since I worked there. I can’t comment on how it is in present day, but I doubt it’s much different from when I was there. This is based on what I’m reading now in reviews from everyone on Unilocal.Moving back here from Florida as a hotel manager, I got a job as a desk clerk. A definite«step down.» Needing the employment, I had no idea what I was in for. Rooms needed a face lift cosmetically, housekeeping was bad, maintenance was worse. The pool was screaming for help, indoor rooms were supposed to be non-smoking but were not. Every area was in the shitter and the boats had no paddles! I have seen suicides, drug deals, prostitution, murders, pimp parties, you name it. Drug paraphernalia was found in beds, sex toys found in rooms, all by the next guest to that room. I busted my ass to make it a better place. A lot of people tipped me, thanked me, fed me, etc. Being only one person, whoever checked in on my shift had a better stay then the other guests. I went above and beyond my call of duty and I thank all those guests who appreciated it. DON’T STAYHEREIFYOUCOMETONEWBEDFORD! Stay at the new hotel over near the waterfront. It’s the Fairmont or something like that. They are real classy and would be a better representation of the true city of «New Bedford.»

one night, two towels in the room, loud airconditioner that couldn’t get the temp to say constant, hard king mattress, no tv remote, a stale smell in a non-smoking room; the whole placed seemed a little messy. never found a wi fi signal on the 3rd floor. was surprised that it passed Days Inn inspection due to disrepair of room and motel in general. very large motel, only a few rooms seem rentable, lots of evidence of construction in rooms. over looks what appears to be a brown field and storage lockers. Maybe a year from now it will be a bargin but for now it was over priced and a little scary

We only stayed here one night, but I’m definitely a fan of the Whaling Inn. I had never been to New Bedford, but this place is close to the highway and about 10 minutes from downtown. The hotel is pretty big for a Days Inn and it wasn’t like a typical motel. The rooms were not accessible from the outside. Our room had a king sized bed and a little office area in the back. It was kind of quaint. The king room also comes with a small refrigerator and microwave in case you’re inclined to make something. There was a little back door to our room that led out into an atrium kind of place next to the indoor pool. The«back door» of our room kind of looked like an old southern porch — it was very quaint, albeit a bit bizarre for the inside of a hotel. I’m sad I didn’t get to try out the pool but it looked really great and a lot of kids were having a ton of fun in there. The continental breakfast was just OK — very limited selection of things(mostly grains) but the coffee was good. I took some to go — awesome. Good stay, overall, though it was a bit pricey. The thing that really pushed me in to 4-star territory was the king sized bed. It was soft, comfy and there were tons of nice pillows. I mean like at least six pillows for our whole bed. It was really nice to crash in such a comfy bed and I really appreciate a large amount of pillows. Good for you, Days Inn. Oh, and for those who are inclined, there’s a heart-shaped jacuzzi suite. I’m just throwin it out there.
