Catwalk used to be a very enjoyable bar downtown, however over the past couple months they have taken a «small city bar» and tried to establish it as an upscale night life destination. Two thumbs down for the new and less improved cat walk.

We only came here because everywhere else was packed due to the New Bedford Marathon and it was the only place that had a table. I just changed from 1 star to 2 because I can imagine myself going here for a few beers if I lived in the area… they had about 50 on top. And our waitress was really nice and trying really hard. Other than that… When we sat we waited a really long time for menus. Once we ordered we waited one hour for our food. My reuben came out cold(it was supposed to be hot). I asked for no dressing and I saw the waitress write«no dressing» on the ticket. It was sopping with thick russian dressing. Nothing else about the food was good anyway. Too bad, the place seems like it has a good vibe.

I came to Catwalk with my family after running the half marathon in New Bedford last weekend. After falling asleep the night before to «The Best Thing I Ever Ate: Burgers», I knew that I’d be getting the biggest burger I could find as soon as the race was over! We tried to go into a few pub-like places in the area but everywhere was packed! We were happy to find an open table in the back room of Catwalk, but they definitely seemed a little under prepared for the influx of marathoners. The back room was fairly empty and they could have easily put in a lot more extra tables! Our waitress was really nice but also seemed pretty overwhelmed. She brought us out our drinks, took our order, and then it took sooo long for our food to come out. We were all starving from the long day so this was not a great way to start the meal. I ended up ordering the non-basic burger — I can’t remember the name, but they only had two on the menu. When the burger finally came it was delicious and I probably scarfed down half of it in about 30 seconds. I was upset though that they forgot to put bacon on it, but didn’t realize until I was halfway through. My mom and sister both ordered reubens, and although my mom loved hers, they put a ton of thousand island dressing on my sister’s sandwich even though she requested it without. She didn’t want to exchange it since it took so long to come out and ended up having to wipe it off with napkins :( I’m cutting Catwalk a little slack on the order mess-ups because of the marathon. I think every place on Union St. was simply just not ready to deal with all of the people coming in and demanding food! Still, the staff was incredibly welcoming and the prices were right on. Plus, they had great Dave Matthews songs playing all afternoon :)

I like the catwalk until around 10 pm. Stopping in during the afternoon i always a pleasure as this bar has a nice feel to it, and is really clean. One giant square bar dominates the space, and grabbing a seat along the bar while tucking into some lunch or dinner is very satisfying. The food here is pretty good, prices decent and portions generous. They have a roof deck that is open in the warmer months, and taking lunch of there is extraordinary. One of the few places I know of in the NB area with outdoor dining. The issue with this place is that its douche-bag central in the evenings, especially weekends. They let waaaaaay too many people in and it is so crowded that you’re inevitably rubbing your whole body against a greasy dude with the tap out shirt and tribal tattoos while you’re on your way to the bathroom. I feel like this is the starter bar for those new to the downtown area(read: newly 21) and the crowd is typically younger than what you’ll find at other nearby bars. I have been to a few events here, and the events room is nice, appointed with the correct amount of waitstaff and seems like they strive to really take care of a client. Come for lunch, or dinner, but get out before the crowd rolls in. *$ 15 minimum on cards!

highly overrated. nothing special. if you go on an off night, youll be able to walk around. on friday and saturdays its over crowded and filled with young college students. the best part of the bar is probably the bar roof only because you can get away from the scene downstairs.

Decent spot in NB. C’mon. how can you hate a bar that has a projection screen come down from the ceiling in which you can play Wii on? It was a week night that I saw people playing Wii, they don’t bring the screen down on weekends because I am sure Wii controllers would end up being thrown at the screen or people etc. LOL. Drinks are okay priced I think a little more expensive then the bars across the street but not bad. I’ve never been here when a band was playing, but I was there when they had a DJ and it was definitely a bit too loud. I didn’t enjoy having to scream at my date. But its a good spot that I’d check out with my girlfriends on a weekend or a chill night during the week. I wasn’t sure what drink I wanted to order off the specialty menu so the bartender made a recommendation. I forget the name but I know it tasted like a purple freeze pop. MMMMM!!! :)

Great if you want to see everyone you’ve ever known in your entire life all thrown together in one little bar area. However, the tuesday late night menu is actually pretty good and super cheap for the $ conscientious.

New menu + new chef = 5 star pub grub! Best burgers and ribs in the area. The Catwalk is now a regular stop for us!

Catwalk or UMASS Dartmouth? I used to love this place! My friends and I would go there a couple times a week and have a few Jolly Rancher martini’s, but those days are long gone. RIP Catwalk.

Pretty straight forward sports bar. Lots of TVs, ok draught list, good pubby food. I’ve been here a few times to meet people and it is always good for a group. Usually not so loud that you can’t talk(can’t speak for Saturday night.) If you go, check out the second floor.
