Unilocal lied to me and told me that the Exchange was open until 11:30pm. Considering the ENTIRE rest of New Albany either closes early or isn’t even open at all on Mondays… I should have been skeptical. Because yeah… they close at 10. Which, all things considered, is really quite impressive! But then I accidentally felt like a massive jerkface for walking in at 9:37pm…SORRY! Like, fer realsies! But also fer realsies… they sat us quickly, told us(politely) we had about 10 minutes to order food before the kitchen started closing up, got us our beer selections(Green Flash Passionfruit Kicker! Where can I buy this?!), told us when last call was in case we wanted one more drink, and then stayed out of our hair for the rest of the time! Seriously. I can’t remember our waiter’s name, but we got what we wanted and didn’t feel like too much of an imposition! He was wonderful. That beer… it was cold and delicious! And I wasn’t planning on eating anything, but then the words«BRUSSELSSPROUTS» jumped out at me from the menu, and duh… I *had* to get them! And they… were…spectacular. Bacon-y and onion-y and garlic-y and completely perfect-y. Downtown New Albany is charming, even when everything is closed on a Monday night. I would absolutely love to come back sometime when I’m not throwing a wrench into their closing duties. I absolutely recommend them, at least for small plates and beer!

Nice atmosphere, various dining areas, including 2 bars &2 outdoors. Brandon, our server, was a tall glass of water that was friendly. They don’t do flights anymore, but he got me one. It had 3 on it. They do have a large selection of draughts & bottles. We both had the Exchange Burger. It was about 1″ thick prepared the way you want it. It had gorgonzola cheese, mushrooms, arugula, & some kind of aoli. Mike said the meat was a «trip to Favor town.» It was good. The kettle chips are lovely. Perfectly crunchy. Then Parmesan friets were ok. They have a nice menu. Not many choices other than salads & humus, if you are watching what you eat. Thumb up for this New Albany eatery.

First time at The Exchange and we loved it! My friend had the Plain Jane burger and said it was the best burger she’s ever had. I had the pan-seared salmon on lemon risotto. Omg! So good. I thought the portion looked a little small, but it was perfect and very filling. Our server Bree(sp?) was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We sat outside and it was perfect weather and ambiance, we even could hear the live music coming from I’m guessing the inside. Only thing I didn’t like was that they did not have a beer list/draft list to choose from handed to me at the table. Being that I’m picky about my beers, I did not have to get up and go inside to look at their chalk board of beer selection. But that’s an easy fix. I hope they print out a beer menu. Would come back to try something else. Reasonably priced I think as well.

Food was ok, service was good. Prices were more than a bit too high for what we got. Appetizers were good, drinks were good. Shrimp and grits was truly awful – pickled pearl onions and peppers with some vinegar dominated«sauce» dumped on top of bland shrimp, dumped on top of an even more bland«grit cake.» Just forget about New Orleans. The steak and fries was good, as were several other dishes.

Had the fish & chips and the porn wings. The prom wings were pretty delicious and the fish & chips were about average. The cocktails here are great as is the beer selection.

Food is very good, and the steak is some of the best I’ve had. The menu is a bit pricy, especially the sides. The brownie desert is delicious, and was made to serve 2. The have a good set of beer on draft, from across the country. The descriptions for the beers aren’t always the most helpful, so it can take while to decide what you want. Service is nice and helpful if you have question.

The service was extremely poor and rude. After being seated and waiting for over 15 minutes without being served, our party left. Would not recommend and this incompetent service would not be tolerated in a larger market.

I travel every week for work and I’m thrilled to say this is one of the Best spots I’ve been to in weeks! Brussel Sprouts are amazing! Asparagus is bomb! Cocktails delicious! My waiter, Chad, super attentive and pretty darn cute! Wish I was here next week!

Banh Mi in New Albany for lunch — who would have thought! The menu covers the range of cuisines from Southern comfort food to high end. The New Albany food scene has exploded over the last few year and the Exchange is a real anchor of this scene. The outdoor seating is great for people watching. I like the beer cheese, but it needs to be warm.

This place is pretty amazing. The décor is top notch(they didn’t skimp on the details), and the staff was friendly and inviting. They have a main dining area with an extra side area with a bar and glass garage doors that open during nice weather. There is also a pretty nice patio area if you like dining outside. My group of 5 went to lunch on a Wednesday around noon. there was a decent crowd but not too packed that we couldn’t sit immediately. The bourbon/beer/drink menu is pretty extensive, and made my mouth water(have to come back after work hours). The menu was simple, but everything looked delicious. Despite the small menu, there is a little something for everyone. The prices for lunch are reasonable considering the nice restaurant. Most burgers/sandwiches will run you between $ 10-$ 14. Most come with chips, but you can upgrade to fries for $ 1. I’ve heard that the dinner menu is much pricier. I chose the Reuben, and it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. SO full of flavor! Everyone at our table ordered something different(Salmon Burger and Grilled Cheese to name a few), and everyone agreed it was the best(insert sandwich) that we have ever had. I would recommend this place HIGHLY to all of my friends, and I will definitely be back.

Ate for the first time here when getting fest of ale pre-sale tickets, as I usually don’t make it over to New Albany. The interior décor looked great, would be a good place for a date, but as I was alone I opted for the outdoor patio bar, which is a good choice on a nice day. Got the Exchange burger and fries, which while quite good, were a bit overpriced. $ 14 for a smallish(¼−1/3 lb ?) burger plus extra $ 1 to sub the fries for chips. Decent beer selection, didn’t appear to have flights outside but they might inside. Service at the bar was OK. Had to ask several times to get a water in addition to my beer. Heard a regular ask the bartender to make him something with Tito’s. Was surprised that after a couple of exchanges about whether he wanted something sweet or not, the bartender offered NO suggestions, even after the patron implored he just use his creativity. Finally the man told him to just make a a vodka tonic. For a place that prides themselves on food and drink, I was disappointed for this gentleman. A moscow mule or another refreshing cocktail on the surprisingly sunny day would have been good, but more importantly, at least come up with SOMETHING for the customer to consider. While it’s probably one of the best restauarants in New Albany, I would not consider it a «destination».

From the moment you step in the door, the service at the Exchange is top notch. Our server took the time to explain each dish and provide suggestions based on our preferences. He was very knowledgeable about the ingredients in each meal and even recommended the best cocktail/beer/wine to pair. I wish I could remember his name as he was truly exceptional and catered to all of our needs. As for the food, I wish I could go back tomorrow! Our table split the goat cheese fritters which melt in your mouth and the pretzel bread with the smoked beer cheese(legendary!) For my entrée, my server recommended the pork chop over the steak as he loved the succotash side and let me tell you, he was 100% correct! I now wish I had ordered an extra portion to bring home for lunch tomorrow. Two others in my party ordered the ribeye over mashed potatoes and the steak was prepared perfectly. The last guest had the fish and chips and needless to say, we all made the clean plate club! I can’t wait to come back for another great meal. Keep up the great work, guys!

The atmosphere of this place is enough to warrant a 5⁄5 stars. The exposed ducts and brickwork really brings a modern downtown vibe. Started out with the fried goat cheese balls with honey and garlic aioli. Cooked perfectly and the flavors all worked together really well. Highly recommend. Got the Madame Croque, which is absolutely amazing. I’m not a big fan of ham but this was sliced thin and wasn’t overpowering. Perfect combination with the garlic fries and fried egg. This is the kind of meal you want on a cold day. Wide variety of craft brews as well. Will definitely be back here

Always happy with the food here … Always. Locally sourced, it is always fresh. This evening didn’t disappoint. However tonight’s service was slow and jerky(think stop/start). Maybe he had too many tables? It was a Thursday night and the place was packed(did I mention great food?). However drinks, apps, refills, meal … Didn’t flow. It was like we were just about to ask about something and it would arrive … All at once. I can’t put my finger on exactly what was off but it just was. Everyone has an off night. I had the pork tenderloin. Our table also had the lobster rav, seared scallops, half chicken, and steak frites. Everyone cleaned their plate. Drinks were spot on. Love the drink with no name. A great cocktail to start or finish an evening. 4.5 would be my choice if I could give halves.

This place is legit! Great beer, spirits, food and atmosphere! I had the Rainbow Trout and my wife had the Asian Scallops. Unbelievable! The kalamata olive hummus was the best I’ve ever had. If you’re a broke type, you won’t like it. They charge for what you get. But if you got flow, it’s the place to go!

Came here for my sister’s birthday. Wonderful atmosphere and really scrumptious food. Plus its locally sourced which is nice and the building is an old historic that they restored. Good service, attentive and although few options all dishes are tasty. A wonderful craft beer selection with interesting options. We had the truffle risotto and the airline chicken, two solid choices. Dessert is also great, the classic crème brulé was tasty with a hint of bourbon. A fun new option in New Albany. Check it out. P. s. we wanted their«no body puts bacon in a corner» shirt but they were out. Thus the four stars.

I truly believe this is a gem for the City of New Albany. Our experience at The Exchange has always been great. The hosts and servers are very attentive, and take time to chat when they can. The food has been amazing as well as the cocktails. They have a pretty good beer menu as well that hasn’t disappointed us. On this particular night I had their pork chop. Not something I would normally order, but the waiter had said it was by far #1 on the menu. It didn’t disappoint either. I don’t know how they got it so juicy, and the crust on it was crazy good. It was served with asparagus and an Apple jalapeño risotto which had so much flavor and compliment the chop well. The presentation was good, but could have used a little more time to perfect. In all, another amazing meal, great drinks and great service!

When my coworker took a job in Pittsburgh, I was excited to hear that her going away party was going to be held at The Exchange. I have loved seeing New Albany grow with new businesses and restaurants! There were 12 party guests total. I called the day of to make the reservation just to be on the safe side with a large group. Patrick, our server, was very impressive as we all arrived at various times due to work obligations and general bridge traffic.(WILLITEVERBEOVER?!) I was one of the earlier guests, leading me to order the Goat Cheese Fritters. I didn’t think a dish could cause me to love cheese more than I already do. The batter was perfectly fried leaving the softness and creaminess of the goat cheese fully intact. There is a decent selection of seasonal craft beers that are bottled as well as on tap. For my meal, I ordered the Grilled Cheese sandwich with frites. I’m usually not one to order a sandwich, but I just had to try this one. A medley of cheeses with pickled onion and peach slices came on thick slices of sourdough bread. Certainly the best grilled cheese I have ever had. The food was a bit more expensive than what I expected, but it was worth the occasion. I suggest trying it out during lunch time and keeping this establishment on your radar for special occasions!

2nd time here and I love it. The bar is beautiful, exposed brick with the center piece lit up. The liquor shelves look to be some old recycled wood planks with pipe stand offs. Surprisingly I am the only one sitting at the bar for lunch. I had the pretzel loaf and beer cheese the first time I was here and it was awesome. This time I tried the croquet madame, I didn’t know if it would be acceptable to eat this with my hands and make a complete mess or just use a knife and fork. I opted for the knife e and fork and it worked great. Sandwich was delicious and the frites were as well. Had a draft stone saison to go along with it. Beer selection is good as is their liquor and cocktail menu. The Exchange is located just over the I65 bridge on the right. Looks like they are adding a big outside patio area so when the weathers nice it should be a nice spot to come grab some food and drink. PS I am not a minion or friend of the owners, hell I’m not even from Indiana or Kentucky. Im just here temporally for work. Also if you complain about something being too expensive for what you get, find a new job or don’t eat there.
