Everything was definitively fine. Nothing great, service was ok. A whole lot of ‘meh’ but not for any particular reason so I bumped it up to 3 stars.

This is what a dying restaurant looks like. Only two other tables were occupied. One waiter was working while the others sat with their feet up in a booth in front of the bar. The place was eerily quiet for a Saturday. Our food was absurdly bland. My chicken flauta was filled with greasy, unseasoned chicken. The side of guacamole that it was served with was watery and and seemed to separate on my plate. I wondered how fresh it was. The refried beans and rice were also tasteless. I barely touched them. My boyfriend had a combo-meal. His beef was also unseasoned. He usually likes his food on the blander side but the total lack of flavor in this meal was too boring even for him. He left most of it on the plate. After serving our food the waiter never back back with our check. We had to go to the counter to ask for it. Skip this place. It is worth making the trip to Clarksville or Jeffersonville for better Mexican Food.

Fried Pork chunks. That is what the ‘Carnitas’ dinner is here, and it is not something I’ve had before. The sauce that normally comes with it is HOT. Filled with flavor, it makes my eyes water. I’ve been substituting the Verde Sauce the last few times, and this is also good. The pork, though ‘fried’ is so moist, it falls apart like it is pot roast, and not fried chucks of sin. This particular El Nopal continues to delight with every item we’ve tried. Service is sometimes a bit ‘iffy’ if it is real busy, but we’ve yet to have a meal that wasn’t above the norm.

Not sure where to start. Service isn’t great by any stretch if the imagination. Had to ask for everything. The food was good but it wasn’t great. It was way overpriced for the quality and the service. I suggest making a drive to Jeffersonville and going to Puerto Vallarta.

I’ve been here many-a-time and have seen it improve over the last year. In particular, the service has gotten much better than. There’s still some spottiness at times, but overall, pretty good. The food is excellent. I’m a big fan of their enchiladas mole which mixes extremely well with the rice that accompanies the dish. Their quesadillas, tacos and fajitas are also delicious. The chips are just right and come with two types of salsa(slightly spicy and very mild) which both have good flavor. The drinks are cheap as well and typically on special. Speaking of which, if you live anywhere near, chances are that you’ve received a coupon in the mail for $ 5 off. Use it and try out El Nopal.

Good chips and salsa, cheap beer and margaritas, friendly staff… what more could you want? There are a lot of mexican places around here, but this is one of the better ones. The food is good and portions are large and they always have coupons in the mail.
