Great little spot for a casual meal in quaint town. While this place would be lost in a big city, it is a gift to this community. The owners are running the place, pouring your drink and cooking your food. A true representation of small business… Especially a new small business! The food was prepared to order, made well and enjoyed. I would encourage some homemade sauces that you love to make and that pair with your offering as your next big/little step. I have a feeling you could rock that and everyone will love you for it. With a little more attention to details this is going to become or remain I should say, a neighborhood favorite and a passer byes score! Cheers to your continued success~

My husband and I stopped in here today for lunch. What a TREAT! The food was absolutely delectable, the company was fantastic and the prices were low! One of the things I loved about this place was the fact that everything is HANDMADETOORDER. The Empanadas were stuffed and fried right in front of me. The flan was to die for!!! I think I honestly spent over an hour there, simply savoring the flavors of the food! I have to say, these restaurateurs have created a fun diner style ambiance that made our lunch enjoyable as well as relaxing!

Not bad, but not great either. The prices are great, and if you’re looking for a fast bite with kid friendly, cheap options then this would be a good choice. My biggest complaint was how long our food took. We sat down right at 11AM and didn’t leave until after 12:15PM. We were told that my husband’s stuffed burger(which was, incidentally, the best thing we ordered) would take a bit to prepare, but I didn’t expect to wait 45 minutes for our food. However, the sun was shining and we weren’t in a hurry so we waited. The hot dog and grilled cheese were standard and what we expected. The shredded pork empanada I ordered had a nice flaky crust and the pork was flavorful. I actually wish there had been less pork so I could have enjoyed the crust more. To me, it tasted as though their oil could have used a change. My husbands burger was very good, juicy and flavorful. The fries were disappointing. They were fresh cut, which is great, but they had been single fried(instead of a blanch and fry) which left them overly dark and oil logged. The atmosphere was enjoyable the staff friendly and the location prime. I would give them another chance, but I don’t know that I’d recommend them to anyone. If you go I recommend an empenada but I’d probably opt for the plantains next time over fries.

I got pretty hyped up about Coqui’s Café after reading about their coquito flan: they have created some kind of flan/tres leches hybrid, and those two things together can only be good. Sadly, I cannot yet report on the coquito flan. Happily, I can confirm the food is good and I will be back. This is a breakfast and lunch only spot occupying the iconic Little Chef building, a prefab diner with what is supposed to be a one-man kitchen(now one man and one woman). I had popped my head in once when it was a hot dog stand and thought it looked cute. And it *is* cute. It’s got maybe 8 – 10 stools at the counter and the décor has had very few updates over the years – though there is a flat screen TV showing a basketball documentary. The boyfriend and I stopped in for a late lunch and were greeted warmly by the eponymous Coqui. The menus are on the counter and he paused as he removed the breakfast menu. I don’t know if they officially serve breakfast all day but I get the sense they wouldn’t have minded if we ordered off the morning menu. We opted for lunch. The offerings ranged from burgers and grilled cheese to made-to-order empanadas. I ordered the medianoche sandwich, which is a lot like a Cuban sandwich but wikipedia tells me is made with softer bread. Matt got a pulled pork empanada and red bean soup. Everything was great and very affordable. I had to try some flan. The only option today was vanilla so I got that. I thought it was really nice, but I still want to try the coquito. The proprietors, Elvin(Coqui) and Stephanie Torres, navigate the kitchen together pretty well. They were both very friendly and confessed that yes, sometimes the kitchen is a little small for two people. But whatever they are doing is working, because the food is tasty. At its heart Coqui’s is a diner, but the Puerto Rican influence from Coqui is definitely an improvement on standard diner fare.
