So this place on the Nat. city Strip, plain jane. solid stuff; bound to be a a bigger place in a better location some day soon. Merrily, missed the«bread of this place» fresh hand made corn tortillas. The place is busier than they expected, probably busier on the wekend. they end up going through adobado faster than expected, yet there are many other choices that work. The fish tacos are huge, the buche is tender *(yes guero tried it), and the food is fresh. Worth the wait.

Tacos el Rey is a new mariscos joint on Highland in National City. They are still working out the kinks a bit but it is very promising. The fish tacos are a bargain: $ 1.50 each and full of fish. The fish is fresh and tasty. The batter is not too thick, but pleasant and just crispy enough. The tacos come with onions which are marinated in lime juice on them. You add your own hot sauce and ranchero sauce. I like that. Looking forward to eating here more often and sampling more of the menu. Something in the shrimp family would be delish. They have a few indoor tables and some nice outdoor tables with umbrellas. Eating outside is surprisingly pleasant considering Highland is so busy. Note: they do not accept cards… cash only. They serve canned sodas and bottled water.
