Dr. Gary McClanahan has been my family dentist for decades. When I say«my family dentist», I mean my me, my wife, my mom and dad, my aunt, my two cousins and their wives, all of whom are or were patients of Dr. McClanahan. He’s not only very personable, but is a great conversationalist while you are laid back in the chair with several hands and dental tools in your mouth. He actually makes it interesting ! And more importantly, when he gives you that(ugh) shot, it is literally painless, although there is always a bit of psychological terror to cope with. Painless shots, who could ask for more? Another question: «Is it safe?»(A reference to the movie ‘Marathon Man’ which probably set dentistry back 50 years.) But I digress. Dr. McClanahan’s wife, Debbie mans the front desk most days, and does the scheduling and insurance billings. She’s very professional, and always very pleasant to talk with. My wife and I get exams and cleanings every six months, without fail. I’m so glad to have Dr. McClanahan as my dentist. I will change insurance companies before I change dentists. That’s a fact.

Went here last week for a regular old cleaning — no cavaties! I love that Dr. McClanahan doesn’t try to get you to sign on for more than you need. Even though a root canal had been a little bothersome, he checked it out and said it still looked good. He explained that sometimes they can ache a bit depending on changes in the weather, or if you have a sinus cold. He told me what to watch out for if it really does start going bad, but that everything was great. I could TOTALLY see other dentists using my concern as a launching board for scheduling some unneccesary(and costly) re-root-canal, so they can make some money off the service. Note: They are closed on Fridays. I kept remembering to schedule an appointment with them(but only on Fridays)… if you leave a message on a Friday or after hours, Debbie will call you right back the next business day.
