VIP’s Place has truly come through for me in a pinch on more than one occasion. Located on Rosebank(just up the street from Dee’s Q), VIP’s is a good little quick-stop place for beer, cigarettes, sodas, chips or anything else that you might convince yourself you need at 9:00PM on a Thursday night. The fact of the matter is, VIP’s stands out only for its especially convenient location. If you live in the area between South Inglewood and the Shelby Bottoms(as I do), you know there are a limited number of convenience stores in the area. This place is quick, cheap and the staff is nice and hilarious. Inside VIP’s is actually a small Italian/Middle Eastern restaurant run by a big, boisterous man who laughs at nearly everything. It’s called Milano’s, though it really isn’t much more than a counter, an oven and one table. While I can’t quite bring myself to get a gyro or a calzone at a joint that doubles as a beer and tobacco store, I suppose it would do just fine if you’re hungry enough and broke enough. Their prices are really cheap, and there’s certainly worse out there you could be eating. Milano’s aside, VIP’s is a good place to stop in for a six pack, a coke or some snacks.
