The taste is for the most part the same as any other Subway– good. The service is awful. I thought they had recently changed management. That’s great. But you need more than 2 employees working during lunchtime when you have a line of 30 customers out the door. It took over 40 minutes to receive a sandwich today– they have one person working the breads/meats, and another working the condiments. The 2nd person puts the condiments on 3 – 4 customers’ meal, and then she checks out the group of 3 – 4 people at a time, and switches off. NO. You need a 3rd worker. I should not have to wait 8 minutes to pay after my sandwich is already complete. Stop being cheap and hire a 3rd person for the heavy hours, you’re in the middle of a huge university.

Service is always pretty good here and ingredients fresh. It’s never too crazy at lunch time. My only complaint about this place is that 4 out of the last 9 times I have eaten here I have been approached by someone asking for money. I know management and staff see it and they don’t do anything about it. I’m totally cool with being asked for money on the street and it doesn’t phase me but not cool when I’m sitting down inside a restaurant eating lunch.

I ordered a sub online because I suspected the line would be long around lunch time. I t said the sandwich would be ready for pickup in 15 minutes. 20 minutes later, I showed up to pick up the sub and I wasn’t even rude or confrontational. I just stood in the pickup line and said my name to the guy working there(Jon). He replied«Can’t you see the line? There are only 2 of us working here» which seemed like an overreaction because nothing I said suggested that I was annoyed at the time. I sat down and waited and in about 5 – 10 minutes my sandwich was ready. They ran out of the drink I ordered, but they let me get another kind so it was fine. I wasn’t angry about any of this until I got back to work and discovered that my sweet onion chicken teriyaki sub literally had NOCHICKEN in it! It was a piece of bread with a couple leaves of spinach and a couple tomatoes. I didn’t go back to complain because I didn’t want to overwhelm them any more but that’s really ridiculous. I feel like I should get my money back and subway should hire more competent employees.

The location is super-convenient to Vanderbilt(particularly business and law schools). And it’s faster than Chipotle and Panera — the other«fast» options on the block. Also, it’s Subway, so you know what you’re getting. Those are the only good things I can think of to say about this Subway. They are slow and sloppy. I’m not sure why a ham sandwich here falls apart such that I spill on myself every time I eat here, when that never happens at other Subways. They skimp on the toppings, except for the sauces which they go crazy with(probably so that you don’t notice that there is a single piece of cucumber on your sub). Super slow service even when empty(pro tip: they’re almost always empty… there might be a reason). Also, They run out of items(like cups for the soda fountain, or ice) more often than they should and then if you want a drink, they still upcharge you for a bottle — not my fault that you ran out of cups! It is cheap and(relatively) fast for the area, but if I have more than 5 minutes/5 dollars, I’ll go elsewhere.

The owner here needs to pay attention to the employees he or she hires. I’ve come to this location 3 – 4 times in the past 3 months, and each time has been a disappointment. They hardly put on any of the ingredients, you have to keep telling them«more.» I mean 2 tiny slices of half ripe tomatoes doesn’t cut it. This AM, I had to explain to the counter people that a soft drink lid is not for coffee. One of them said«I did not know we had lids for coffee.» She had the deer in headlights look when I described that Subway black plastic lids for coffee. You would have thought I was lecturing on some esoteric aspect of physics.

Okay it’s not just me. This is the most inefficient Subway I have EVER been to. The management really needs to get this under control. They are SO slow and move with NO sense of urgency whatsoever… I have never seen anything like it. It is so frustrating. Also– there is no quality control here. Normally, they have all the containers filled with the vegetables, etc. At this Subway — on multiple occasions mind you — the employees walked back slowly to the back room to refill their«buckets.» I also ordered the buffalo chicken and the meat was not sectioned off in the container –so the lady nearly gave me twice the amount of meat that she should have. While you think I would be happy with this, she also did that same thing with the vegetables. The sandwich was so huge I could not eat it comfortably or easily with everything spilling out. When I go to a Subway, I expect two things: consistency and speed. It’s also a problem from a management standpoint, because clearly they are following no protocol and wasting a lot of money. Get this under control please.

I have to agree with John N. This was probably the least friendly and least efficient Subway I have ever experienced. I’m not sure if the employee’s dogs had all just died, or what the deal was, but they barely said ‘hi’ and barely made eye contact. I have been to many great Subways in my day. This is certainly not one of them. They get two stars only because my sandwich was good. But when there is a Subway on nearly every street around Vandy, you better believe I won’t be coming back to this one.

I travel often for work and visit many subways. This particular location is probably the slowest, unfriendliest, most disorganized one that I have been too. I’ve gone here 4 days in a row during off peak hours and am I am still waiting longer than normal for my sandwich. The employees there seem like they are unhappy to be there. You do not get the typical«welcome to subway» greeting. Yesterday they ran out of green peppers and onions at 2pm. Today the gentleman forgot to put egg on my ham egg and cheese flatbread sandwich. Overall the negative feeling given off by the employees is felt throughout the store and running out of items often, combined with the time it takes them to make a sandwich resulted in the 2 star rating.

A late night in lab brought me to dine at Subway on 21st. Honestly, it was a great sandwich. I got the Veggie Delite on 9 grain honey oat bread. Honestly delicious! And after 5 p. m they have a special of buy two footlongs for $ 5 a piece. Excellent deal if you bring a friend. Staff was super efficient and friendly!

Subway with a drive-thru? Sure, why not? I have been on the run quite a bit lately and good ol’ Subway has been an all too convenient option for this broad. I stick with the veggie patty on toasted wheat bread loaded up with all the veggies and doused with the Sweet Onion Sauce and I’m pretty set.

Unmotivated employees — During lunch time, they have 2 – 3 people operating the line. Other times, usually 1 works the line and 1 sits/stands in the rear. False advertising — At the bottom of the receipt, it asks you to take a survey for a free cookie. After completing the survey, I returned with my receipt only to be told that the manager does not allow free items. I can pay full price instead. Crowded seating — tables are just off the walkways. If you sit against the wall on the left as you enter, claustrophobia is inevitable as the line forms next to you. Average food at best — they have no shame in pulling lettuce or turkey directly out of the bag under the counter. No attempt to place it in the bins on the counter. Parking — that’s another beast in itself. Potholes, faded lines.

This is one of the places I can walk to on my lunch hour and do so regularly. It’s a Subway, nothing special. That said — they actually listen when I tell them what I want on my sandwich, I rarely have to correct them. They’ve never overcharged me. The tables are usually clean. When Vandy is in session it can get pretty busy at lunch, and I’ve just given up on trying to find parking here. The spots are small, people don’t know how to maneuver them and there aren’t many.
