South Side Towing Recovery

The location of the tow in lot is unsecured, and not well let lit. Had it not been for another customer I would not have located where the office was as there is no signage directing you where to find the receptionist. The towing company shares space with the stone cutting business that seems to be the primary tenant. Spoke with the restaurant staff from where my car was towed and they indicated me there was no damage at the time the car was picked up however upon inspection in daylight today there is damage to the right side of my vehicle either from where it was brush against something and towing or when it was dropped on their lot… When I contacted them regarding this they were extremely rude and hung up on me. There are currently two Better Business Bureau complaints against them, and there’s going to be a third soon to follow.

My driver was super friendly and helpful. Best service I’ve ever had from a towing service! Thank you for being personable and professional!

1 everything is usually ok with these guys but for the second time needing the tow they are making me wait well beyond the time that i was given… my insurance uses them or i would have called someone else… last time it was nearly 4 hours and i was blocking part of an intersection… considering all the other reviews i can only conclude that the difference is that i am not paying for the service…
2 so we are over 3 hours now and i have been told twice since 12:47 that they were on their way, it is 1:30 now and they still are not here! if i could cuss on here i so would be right now! i have so much to get done today… worst tow company ever!!!
3 got the confirmation text at 10:21am my time that the tow would be an hour and a half… calls and contact even from southside towing that they were on their way… 3 hours after my original confirmation is when the actual radio call went out to the drivers that my tow was needed!!! i know this because as i was walking back from driving my car to the shop in the rain the truck driver called me from the front of my house to find out where the car was… needless to say he got more than he bargained for and informed me that he never got a call until 1:15pm!!! that is 3 actual hours after my call for a tow truck!!!
in closing if your insurance company tells you that they are sending southside tow & recovery to you tell them no way in hell! and have them call someone else

THEY WILL SCAM YOU OUT OF MONEY!!!
Okay, a few reasons for this one star. My car’s steering wheel stopped working and I ended up driving onto a sidewalk which blocked traffic. A friend with me called them and told them the situation and asked the lady to send us to the nearest place that could fix it. She said Firestone. I talked to her and she said the same thing. The tow guy gets there and notices my engine somehow fell through to the ground. The tow guy calls back and tells her this and she still says take them to firestone. We get there and firestone says there’s no way the could even try to fix it and the recommended a shop that specialized in engine repair. That’s all fine but here’s the thing, THEY CHARGED ME ANOTHER $ 40!!! It was an «unhooking fee». Funny, because the tow guy NEVER unloaded my car, didn’t even unhook it, he just sat in the cab the whole time. We call them back to discuss things and the woman on the phone was extremely blasé about the extra unneeded charge even though the only reason we went there was because of her recommendation. She kept saying we asked for the nearest place but we told her we wanted the nearest place that could FIX IT! So we get to the new place and we’re complaining to the driver and he then tells us «yeah, I never would have recommended firestone.» So either through ignorance or scamming they forced me to pay another $ 40 ($ 105 total) for something that never happened. Don’t use them unless you’ve got money to spare.

I use South Side Towing all the time, nice, fast and really good service. I would recommend them to everyone.

Do not ever use South Side Towing! I have had a terrible morning thanks to them. I was stuck on the side of I-​65 from 7:30am — 11:00am because they took their sweet time getting to my location. Then once the guy arrived he said he had the wrong «dolly» for my car so he needed to go back to the shop to pick the correct one up. So I waited another 30 minutes and he finally came back. So he fooled around with my car for a total of about an hour with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Then for the 3^rd or 4^th time of coming back to tell me there was a problem he says he can’t figure out how to get my car lifted up and he wants me to drive on the interstate with a flat tire. Umm I might be female but I am not an idiot. This guy was a complete joke! The only reason they might deserve 1 star is because the guy was fairly friendly. But the worst towing service I have EVER received. I sent him on his way and called another towing company that did the job quickly and professionally.
