My. My. My. I knew it was going to be an intriguing experience when the Foursquare venue check-in is named«The Hip Hop Station.» While technically, this isn’t a Mapco(it’s an «Express» BP according to the sign), it changes names so many times, it’s best we just stick with good ol’ Mapco #3335. Surprisingly, the facility is super nice. It’s one of the two closest places to downtown where you can get gas a price well below the area’s average. Expect to pay $ 0.05 to $ 0.15 less than you would pay on the west side of town. All the pumps work, with the one on the far left being a bit slow some times. The convenience store is well-kept and there’s a sandwich and pizza restaurant inside. The pizza place actually delivers. While I’ve been to this place more than 50 times, the clerks(bluetooth phone piece in ear) have never said a word to me or even given me my total. The one thing you HAVE to be ready for at this store is panhandlers. It’s one of the most frequented gas stations I’ve ever been to. Usually, they appear to be passers-through who are in cars and just took the exit to try to drum up some change.
