This place is famous locally and often crowded but I have been there twice and found it lacking in some areas. I had their salmon and jalapeño soup which was delicious but came in a tiny cup. Probably half the size of every other cup of soup I’ve had. Also, I ordered a sourdough French toast. I know! Don’t ask. After waiting waiting about 20 minutes the cook came out to tell me they were out! Place has some different menu items and a nice staff but there are better places in Nashville for the money. Sorry, will not be back.

Pretty much the best Veggie Burger I’ve had in a long time! It’s awesome as it is, but if you can add an extra of avocado slices of you like it, you won’t regret it! WOW!!!

What’s not to like? It was New Years Eve Eve Morning(12÷30÷15) and the line was out the door… but within 25 minutes we were ordering! Loved the display case of organic/gluten free/or not muffins! YUM! Pricey but looked divine! I got Smoked Salmon Scramble-smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, red onion, herb cream cheese, capers, hash browns & toast – $ 11…not too shabby… and a cup of decaf. Also, I had them use egg whites instead of whole eggs – just as good. I could have used a bit more food to fill up… the potatoes helped. Great options when you have vegetarians in the group or what some really good coffee! Heck, I remember when it was a pet store and I used to look at the«doggies in the window»(thus, the name«Fido»)…so glad it’s still around!

The quality of the food has really gone down. The local burger used to be incredible. I’ve had it several times since and it’s just not that good at all. The last time it came to me completely burned(even though I asked for medium rare). And when I went up to the front to ask if they can remake it, the cashier person gave me attitude assuming I wasn’t aware that the burger had lamb in it, as if that could possibly explain the burned taste. I’ve had the burger plenty of times before. They just burned the hell out of it. It was remade and tasted fine but still not as good as it used to be. I’ve had other food too, like soups and entrees, and they were decent but very small portions for how much you pay. As for the coffee, it’s good but overpriced. I like the local latte, but it’s like $ 6. It seems that this place really takes advantage of its location near Vanderbilt and charges too much for mediocre food and small portions

One of the top 5 burgers in town. This place is quickly becoming a favorite. Plus, two hour free parking in the back. Can’t beat that in this town!

(Rating for a burger and fries at bunch on a Sunday, I don’t drink coffee) We stopped in on a Sunday for a couple burgers. This is mainly a coffee house that also sells food. They’ve got a bunch of seating, however during busy times they will shut off the free wifi, well at least thats what the signs said. I picked out a seat for us at the table top by the window. This is a great place to people watch all the different characters walking up and down 21st Ave. You order at the counter. We stopped in around 12:30pm and the place was packed. The line curved around the counter. It took Phillip about 15 minutes to order. We both got the local burger which is ground beef and lamb, Tennessee white cheddar, caramelized fennel and fig aioli, caramelized onion, pickle, lettuce on a bun for $ 13. If you want to add bacon(which we did) it costs $ 2.50. The burger comes with fries that have sea salt and maybe garlic and parsley? They give you a little sign holder with a dog’s picture and some facts about them. It would be neat if the dogs on the holders were dogs(and cats) available for adoption. Our burgers arrived about ten minutes after ordering. We both ordered the burger medium, but looked more well done to me. The burger was topped with uncooked, red onions, not caramelized onions as stated. I couldn’t taste the caramelized fennel and fig aioli on the burger either. I did like the flavor of the burger, the cheese with the beef and lamb. I wished it wasn’t was well done as it was, but I still liked it. I didn’t think it was a burger that should be $ 15.50(with bacon). I liked the fries and the garlic aioli was nice, but I couldn’t eat too much of it because it’s pretty intense. Phillip said that the portion size of the fries was pretty small compared to other visits he had here, and after looking at other pictures of the local burger, it looks like you usually get more fries.

I’ve come here repeatedly in an effort to try to figure out why people like Fido so much. Students with a palate on gastronomic training wheels? The customer service is a zero, and I would never say that lightly. Between not being acknowledged, barely acknowledged, including an entire transaction where the employee never even looked up at me(and I don’t look like Frankenstein), it’s safe to say their customer-facing crew needs a little refresher in industry skills. The food is nothing to write home about. Not even a postcard. Or a sticky note. I may be exaggerating, but it feels as if one could read Atlas Shrugged in the time it takes for food to be served. Forget take out. I tried that once. I could have walked across the street for a sit-down lunch of pancakes and returned to STILL be waiting for my order, I kid you not. When I asked about my order, I was snapped at. The tables and counters always seem to be sticky or not bussed. It’s pretty dirty in there(at least at the times I’ve visited, which have been breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The one star I gave Fido represents the following: 1. You cannot give less than one star on Unilocal, and 2. The space works well for socializing; so they get a star for a decent indoor space to work, study, or chat. In fact, I would probably like to hang at Fido if I could bring my own coffee and food. And a table wipe. I’m sorry, Fido. I like you in theory, just not in reality.

After several months of hearing good things about Fido, I finally made it for weekend brunch. Don’t think it was anything to go too crazy over, but had a good experience and would be happy to try again. The biggest issue for me was not realizing that food is ordered at the counter. The line was long but moved at a decent pace for Sunday brunch — probably about 20 minutes. Not really how I want to start my morning, but not a deal breaker. After ordering and finding a table, I was pleasantly surprised that the wait for the food to be delivered was quick. My friend ordered the steak scramble and I the village scramble(veggies and feta) and both of us were happy with our meals. The menu says served with hash browns, but they were actually cubed roasted potatoes rather than your typical skinny hash browns. Whatever you want to call them, they were my favorite part of the meal and highly recommended.

A restaurant with a pet theme, hipster vibe and located in a cool part of town? Yes please! Unfortunately my expectations were not met. Fido’s food was just okay. The restaurant was a little grungy(i.e. food and dirt in conspicuous places, not the good grungy). But what really sealed the deal was my interaction with a less-than-friendly barista. Plenty of people seem to love it here, as evidenced by the line out the door, but it’s just not for me.

You MUST try their Local Latte. Local honey makes this drink so fantastic. I think they add a bit of sage too, but I might be wrong. Nonetheless, this is my go-to drink they create. For their food, I’ve only just tried their veggie burger. The staff is quite conscientious about dietary restrictions, and even made sure if I could eat mayo before putting in my order. The fries come with this amazing creamy pesto sauce that I could not stop devouring. Be prepared to wait in a decently long line if you come during lunch hour or prime study time(6−7pm). However, if you’re only going to get coffee(true mostly for the latter crowd), the line goes by relatively quickly. Service is efficient and very courteous. The cashier made a point to patiently explain anything on the menu we had issues with. Waiters are beyond helpful and quick to check in with anything you may need.

Great breakfast spot! Quick service, great food and good coffee! Pancakes were fluffy. Breakfast torta was yummy… Very filling! Salmon egg scramble was unique and tasty. Also got special football season cappuccino! For the price… Would definitely go back.

THEYHAVEPANCAKESTHATPUTALLOTHERPANCAKESTOSHAME. Seriously. I’ll never eat another pancake without comparing it to here. I want to try all of their pancakes. Every variety. The buttermilk pancakes were the best, even if they were a little dry in a way that syrup never could quite cure. I can’t explain it, but they were. But that didn’t stop them from being sweet. Combined with the whipped cream it was nirvana. I will never eat another pancake in my life without remembering this one. The rest of the food was good to ok but I am pretty positive I will only ever order pancakes here from now on(and other breakfast stuff as that was the best). They also sell beer, which is pretty unique in my experience. They are also associated with Bongos(like the one I ate at in the Omni) so their hot chocolate was the same — just ok. But seriously go try the pancakes. Just do it. Loved: — Buttermilk Pancakes(plain) — Cheesecake Brownie — Hash Browns Liked: — Grilled Chicken — Hot Chocolate Disliked: — Mary Poppyseed Muffin — Scarecrow coffee(Spencer liked it)

This has to be the best breakfast coffee shope I have ever had, seen, or heard of. Absolutely on point with their breakfast and portion size. No offense to the place on the next block with a super long line to get a table, I won’t name them… Fido Simply redifined a simple breakfast and turned it into a tasteful and artful dish that drove my palette for more and more. My plate included potatoes, toast and a nice juicy peice of steak on top of my fluffy eggs; it also came with salsa and sour cream. These combinations were outstanding and made my day oh-so-nice to have not have had to wait forever and a half for my breakfast. Did I mention it was raining outside??? I could not have asked for a better start to my day. I will be back Fido, and I will eat you up all over again… And again… And again!

I have been searching all around Nashville for a high quality breakfast sandwich and Fido finally delivered. A nice tasty everything bagel, plus local sausage, a huge helping of fresh to made eggs, and delicious cheese on top, what more could you ask for? Well, I guess a cup of coffee, which delivers here as well, loaded with flavor and drinkability. I am looking forward to becoming a regular there. Also, as a quick tip, the line can be a little brutal. To avoid the line, I’d recommend ordering take out if you’re worried about it.

Food was very yummy. The steak and egg was good. The restaurant was busy. The art on the walls was super cool. All in all, a great eat! So why only 3 stars? Well the bathroom was gross according to my wife. And being busy meant most the tables were full and the few open tables were still not clean. So the messy tables and the bathroom took this 4-star down a notch.

Hip, cool dog friendly foodie spot in Hillsboro Village where all the Nashville celebs hang. Seriously. I got confirmation that Gunner from Nashville hangs here. I don’t watch the show but apparently he is a big deal since every female friend I told basically swooned. Thanks to Unilocal Orlando Elite, Pam H., for never steering me wrong for breakfast/brunch spots. She knew I would enjoy this place b/c 1) I love dogs and 2) This place is so adorably dog friendly. We came here for breakfast and just like Pancake Pantry, this place had a line forming on a Monday morning! So they, too, also have quite a following. Thankfully the line moved quickly but have your order ready when you get to the register. Their breakfast menu is a compilation of breakfast plates, bagel sandwiches, some fun sides. And they serve breakfast ALLDAY. Also, make sure to check the dry erase board behind the counter for any daily specials as well as special artisan crafted coffees they are offering. I went with the Village Scramble(comes with toast and homemade diced potatoes) with a fancy cinnamon latte. The food orders are brought to your table but instead of a customary number for your table they give you a pic of a dog and its bio. Do note that coffee is not brought out to your table. We made the mistake of waiting for our drinks not realizing they were waiting at the counter for us! The crowd was definitely a mix of Vandy students and locals and very laidback. If I was in college, I would come here to study, eat and hang out. Also check out the cool artwork on the walls. Lunch and dinner are also served here and they also have craft beer for your consumption. Oh yeah and some adorable Fido logo merchandise. If I lived in Nashville, I would probably come here regularly. Skip the touristy spots for a more local experience!

Meh. The 45 min-1 hr line is not worth the mediocre breakfast food. Don’t let the line deceive you! It wraps around the corner inside the store and moves pretty slowly. I ordered the Meat & Three and a regular coffee. The saving grace of the uninspiring plate was the sausage, which was crispy and flavorful. The eggs were soft and fluffy but unfortunately completely tasteless. The coffee was pretty good but to me it’s very strange to pay for refills for just regular coffees at a breakfast/brunch establishment.

I’m the party pooper here, I guess. Sure, Fido’s vibe is great. But I found the local latte really really bitter. Blech. And the lavender blueberry cake was dry. Also, the cheesy grits were greasy crumbs. If I come back I’ll have to try something more savory… I guess that’s what everyone raves about.

So this is how it works — you grab a menu and tell the person you’re with to stand on the long line, you place the order and have the person you’re with pay while you find seats and he’ll get the cute stand. If you’re dining in, the food and utensils will be brought out to you. As we waited, I helped myself to dessert first. This is how we usually eat. There’s vegan desserts! I ordered the village scramble which consisted of scrambled eggs, baby spinach, tomatoes, portobello, roasted red onions, feta, salsa, sour cream, hash browns & toast and the cinnamon espresso cheesecake. I initially had a cookie, then swapped it for a muffin and then resorted to a cheesecake. That’s the order you’ll see it. I had to only choose one to save room for more food in an hour or so. Yes, this is how I travel. it’s all about the food. The food was nothing over the top; it was average joe; diner style. I was a tad disappointed by the cheesecake because the espresso taste wasn’t strong.
