The only other Cochon outside of New Orleans. I’ve been to both and the quality is comparable, though there is something a bit more special about the original. The only sandwich I would avoid is the turkey. It’s dry and not that interesting. I’ve tried every other sandwich on the menu, and they are all tasty. The real stand out here though is the Mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts, which shine above any other sandwich. Order at the counter and seat yourself.

Loved this placed. Family friendly dog friendly and you can sit outside. The brussel sprouts were my favorite.

Met two of my girlfriends here for a quick drink before a dinner reservation at Rolf & Daughters. My dining companion and I had some appetizers here and were they ever good! Head cheese, marinated brussels sprouts, and boudin. Wow. Whoa. Wha. I want to come back. There is so much more to be had. I’ve never been to the NoLa location, but it has been on my list for awhile. I’ll probably be in New Orleans before I’m in Nashville again, but I am certainly making Cochon Butcher a stop.

This is a great place to grab a quick lunch. Not a great place if you’re gluten free but you can order their sandwiches without bread and they end up being a delicious salad! I had the turkey club and would definitely reorder it. The marinated brussel sprouts are divine and a must order. Fast service and fresh, delicious sandwiches. I’ll be back.

Order at the counter. Great food. Have had the muffuletta and boudin, it was excellent. Duck sliders were good and Caramelized Brussels were good as well, well seasoned. definitely would return.

First, definitely order the mac and cheese. Second, make sure to time your visit. You order, sit down, wait for your food, and drool as you watch everyone else get their food. Come a little earlier or a little later than the typical lunch hour as to not wait in line for TOO long. Walking in, the place has a very STRONG smell of meat, which, after my noise adjusted, was heavenly. Everything I saw on the menu looked amazing! I ordered the duck pastrami sliders — This is listed as a small plate and it IS a small plate. Don’t be disheartened by that, if you order any of the sandwiches, you will definitely need an extra stomach to eat it all. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. The outside patio is absolutely perfect for spring/summertime lounging and enjoying a delicious plate of meat. I believe you can also take some home with you to cook on your own. Parking is limited in the lot, but there is plenty of parking across the street for a nominal fee.

A little bit of NOLA in Nashville. Umm… yes please!!! Prices were a bit higher than I remember and the location is in the hipster part of Germantown that seems to be going through some gentrification of its own. Neat little spot though and the sandwiches were on point! I’m very pleased this little outpost made it north to Nashville.

So I am a wannabe vegetarian. Then I travel the world and realize I do love fish. So fine, I am a wanna be Pesceterian who generally avoids meat. I had heard good things about this place but hadn’t been there. Well last night, after a raucous happy hour down the street, I accidentally walked face first into a meat explosion! And oh my was it glorious! I can spare you some of the gory details but here’s the deal. If you live in Nashville, and are going to eat an animal, you need to eat THESE fucking animals. I can tell you how the dry, tender, freshly housemate chorizo dog did a divine dance down my tastebuds evoking flavored and textures of Southern Europe in the summer, or how the PERFECTLY cooked lamb brought my mouth straight back to the Middle East. Or how the Brussels sprouts have GOT to be the most complex and delicious preparation available in Nashville outside of my own kitchen. I could say all that. Or… Without hesitation, I can instead say: This restaurant is one of Nashville’s finest. Fresh ingredients expertly prepared at a disturbingly fair price. If you eat meat and you do not try this place, you might just be a moron! Don’t miss supporting one of Nashville’s best secrets lest we risk losing such a culinary treasure in our own backyard.

Man, what can I say about Cochon Butcher?!! My wife and I heard about this place from some friends while we were out and they told us that we should try it. Now, being that we are from Southeast Louisiana, but now living in Nashville, just like everyone else from that region, we remain skeptical when a restaurant advertises anything pertaining to a taste of where we are from. It’s just who we are. No one does it like us Cajuns !! Anyways, we saw that they have hogs head cheese and boudin(pronounced: boo-dan) which are foods that we grew up on as kids and still enjoy and stock up on when we go home for the holidays. So, we arrived had a couple of drinks at their bar. I had a beer and my wife had the«Pimp Cup». It is a mixed drink in a rocks sized glass. Not sure what is in it but it was good. It was however $ 11. No complaints, its Germantown. High drink prices are expected. Rent is not cheap in that area, I understand. So we ordered some food. What you ask?!! Of course boudin and hogs head cheese !!! Pay attention. Let me tell ya, don’t skip either of them !! The hogs head cheese was on point. They call it head cheese but trust me, its the real deal and tastes exactly like my friends and family back home used to make. Now the boudin… ohhhhhhh the boudin !!! Talk about delicious. Filled with pork, rice, and just enough spices to make you want to go and, well…(cue Johnny Depp in the movie Once Upon a Time in Mexico talking about«restoring the balance»). After we were done with that we ordered a Cubano. It was good, not the best I have had but definitely far from being the worst. I am not what you would call a Cuban aficionado. Our bill was about $ 50. Before you say«that’s crazy» its because we also bought a pound of boudin to go so that we can cook it later which was about $ 10 or $ 11. I’m telling you, it was as good as home. How could we not buy some?!! Nice to find a place where we can get a taste of home at a fairly decent price along with many other things that they offer. In all honesty, give this place a try, you will not be disappointed I assure you. It is a little on the pricey($$) but not by much. As previously stated, it’s Germantown in Nashville, its not cheap to open up shop in the area so the prices are understandable. Apparently some people can’t grasp that. That’s all I’m saying !!!

Am I the only one who’s ever been to New Orleans or Miami? I ask because every«Cuban«dish I’ve had in Nashville has been sadly low-quality. Cochon is no different. We ordered the Cubano and the Muffaletta sandwiches since we had a hankering for the food from our old ‘hood & New Orleans… a city my husband and I both love to visit. Making these sandwiches is such a(comparably) easy thing to master, it’s laughable how bad they are here. For one thing, the Muffaletta sandwich should not be hot. What is it with hot sandwiches in Nashville? Go to New Orleans, chefs. Eat a sandwich from Central Market. Recreate it at your restaurant. Not too difficult. Same thing goes for the Cuban sandwich… although that should be hot since it’s a pressed sandwich. But the meat has to be right. Sliced pork, ham, pickles, sauces pressed between two slices of delicious bread. Eat one and you’ll never want to make it wrong again. It’s just so disappointing. Nashville is not that far from New Orleans or Miami. It shouldn’t be hard to re-create the delicious cuisine one can find in those cities. Can someone please visit and eat there before attempting to put these on the menu again? Please, I’m sure we can find a way to pay for your ticket!

I had a little sticker shocker when I went there for the first time. I had a sandwich, bag of chips and a bottle Coke($ 3.50 plus tax) and my meal was just under $ 20. The meat and toppings on the sandwich was pretty good but the amount of bread overwhelmed the taste. I will take my wife there sometime but if it does not impress next time it will be off the list. There are too many other good sandwich places that are better priced in Nashville. P.S. My wife and I went to Edley’s for dinner the same night and our bill was only $ 20.75. This made my experience of paying almost $ 20 for my self at this place that much worse.

Have read about the original in Nawlins, and very happy to have an outpost here in Nashville. Cubano is not traditional but it is very good. Nice spicy kick. The potato salad is incredible! Lots of gripes on here about the price point. Yes, it is a bit pricey but this ain’t cheap, mass produced factory food. It is chef driven and the ingredients are of exceptional quality. Worth it. And everyone here is so flippin’ nice. Yes, I’ll be back.

I was super excited about Cochon, having been to their mother restaurant on a trip to NOLA a year or so ago. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere is inviting and fun. As the recommendation of the cashier, I ordered the Cuban, with a side of brussels and a beer. I was surprised by how much my ticket came to– $ 25! That’s a bit much, but I held my reservations till I tasted the food, could be worth it? Initially, I was a fan of the brussels. Super flavorful and nice and charred. However by the end of the dish, I found them to be too acidic. The most disappointing part was the cuban. The meat was delicious but they didn’t use a true Cuban bread, found it too buttery. I love the house made pickles, but they’re bread and butter and I don’t think it tastes like a true cuban sandwich with them. I brought half the sandwich home and my boyfriend loved it and told me I was being too picky cause I’m from Florida and we’ve got the best cubans in the states down there.

Tried Cochon Butcher for the first time this past weekend and we really enjoyed our time there! We went for lunch on a Saturday didn’t have a hard time finding a table, but the place was buzzing. For our entrees, we ordered the Le Pig Mac(an awesome double patty burger) and the smoked turkey sandwich– both were awesome and more than enough food for a lunch portion. We also tried the brussel sprouts as our side and loved them! We decided to place our order and head out to the patio because it’s heated– which is a major plus because we love to sit outside! The outdoor patio is really big and we loved the vibe here. We didn’t have any alcoholic beverages, so i’m unsure on pricing for those, but food pricing was pretty standard/high for the portion sizes. I won’t be rushing back right away, but no bad experiences were had. This is a great new addition to the Germantown neighborhood!

I just tried the Cochon Butcher for the first time this past summer in New Orleans and was ECSTATIC to learn they were opening a Nashville location. Located in Germantown, Cochon Butcher has a great patio space and indoor sitting space with plenty of parking. It’s also next to a great juice bar totally worth visiting for a cleanser(more on that in another review). I love the vibe of this place. Very industrialized with exposed kitchen and metal work. Plus all the meats on display is just OMGDELICIOUS. Consistency is definitely on-par with the original in New Orleans. I’ve tried pretty much every item on the menu. My most notable favorites are the Le Pig Mac and the Gambino. If you love meat and tons of flavor, GETTHOSE. Some ‘meh’ for me were the Moroccan Spiced Lamb, which was surprisingly flavorless, and the Cold Roast Beef. Now something that is delicious but odd was the Pork Belly with mint and cucumber. It tastes like a tangy mint-cucumber sauced pork belly which I found different and awesome. My boyfriend, not so much. The sides were pretty ‘meh’ as well. Nothing tastes any better than anything you can pick up at the grocery store. Overall, I would recommend picking up a sandwich, skipping the sides, grabbing some beers from the bar and sitting on the patio.

It’s been so fun to see this area of Nashville grow, and I really like the spot Cochon Butcher is in. There are a few tweaks I’d make in terms of service and flow — when you walk in the door, it’s confusing where to go(host stand? counter? seat yourself?), and it’s unclear whether you bus your own table — but more important to me is the food. Let’s talk. The sides seem to be the shining part of the meal. We tried the mac-n-cheese(toasted and bubbly, quite rich) and the marinated brussels sprouts(crispy and tart). My husband had the BLT with Butcher bacon on white bread(no complaints) and I had the Cajun port dog(all the flavors were there, but the bun hadn’t been toasted and totally fell apart after a few bites). All of that with one bottle of beer was $ 43. I was surprised by the total and had to double-check the receipt. It turns out that you do order at the counter, then there’s supposedly table service once you take a seat. However, no one came to refill our water glasses or check on our meal until it was over and our mouths were on fire from the habanero sauce. A three-star rating on Unilocal has the description«A-OK,» and that’s how I feel about Cochon Butcher overall: The food is nice, the atmosphere is cool, the music is on point(Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin), there’s outdoor seating(huzzah!), but the prices are a bit steep for my taste, particularly if the service is a little lacking. I believe they’ll get there and tighten up service as time goes on. Yet, a $ 10 hot dog is still just a hot dog, after all.

Having spent the morning of my Nashville day trip at 5-Star Biscuit Love Brunch( ) I honestly wasn’t sure whether or not that experience could be matched. Well color me stupid, because it was matched by another 5-Star experience at Cochon Butcher. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Cochon is the perfect blend of classy and casual, and it’s a blend made possible at least in part but a phenomenal staff. You stroll in, order at the counter, take a number and a seat, and your food comes out soon after. Want more?(you will), no problem — just order with your server. Want to sit outside? Go for it, as there’s a wonderful patio area that compliments a more calm and comfortable indoor arrangement. Easy breezy. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? As you’ve probably realized by now, my experience at Cochon Butcher was near perfect, but I will point out that when it comes to certain menu items things can get a bit pricey considering the portion sizes. I opted for the Duck Pastrami Sliders and the Mac n Cheese, and it was a bit of a case of two value propositions. As you can probably tell by my pic, the Duck Pastrami Sliders were quite small: no larger than your standard ham and cheese sandwich on wonder bread. There was maybe a slice or two of pastrami on the sandwich and a bit more cheese, which considering this was a $ 9.00 dish came across a a bit comical. Now, typically this would be enough for me to dock this star, but as I explored the rest of the menu I realized that the duck pastrami sliders were a bit unique in their high price point. My second dish, the mac n cheese, was $ 6.00, which was a fair price given the portion, and represented a more reasonable price trend. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Reader? My mother has been dishing up some of this planet’s best grilled cheese sandwiches for decades now, and it’s exceptionally uncommon that I find a dish that comes even close to matching her skills. That being the case, I’m almost reluctant to admit that my Duck Pastrami Sliders were very much on par with my mom’s wares. The bread was perfectly toasted, and the cheese and duck pastrami blended together brilliantly without having one overshadow the other. Now, if there’s one dish that I take very, very seriously? It’s mac n cheese. I will, almost without fail, order mac n cheese anywhere it’s on the menu, and as a result I’ve become pretty stingy with what’s becoming a more frequent upscale dish. Dallas does mac n cheese exceptionally well, but my dish here at Cochon blew all of that out of the water. Honestly there weren’t any fancy add-ons like green chili or bacon or the like, but instead just perfectly executed pimento cheese and pasta. The toasted crunchy top was perfect, and once broken opened up an exceptionally creamy and flavorful interior. Amazing. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Absolutely. Star Granted.

Soooo we actually came here by accident. We were visiting from out of town and on our way to Butchertown Hall for lunch. Well, we pulled into this place thinking we were at Butchertown. We didn’t realize we weren’t until halfway through our meal! Ha! Either way, we really enjoyed our meal here. It’s a casual, order at the counter establishment with a hip, laidback vibe. Orders are brought out to the tables where you can either dine inside or outside on the patio. Their menu boasts some hearty sandwiches of which the majority include pork products hence the«Butcher» name. I opted for the Smoked Turkey sandwich which was actually quite delicious. It was dressed with avocado, sprouts, tomato and a basil aioli and pressed which gave it a great crispy crunch. When asked what their popular sides were, the mac and cheese and marinated brussel sprouts were recommended. I decided on the brussel sprouts which did not disappoint. They had a nice spicy kick and I only wish it was a bigger serving! They also serve wine and cocktails here. On a side note, we noticed an abnormally high amount of flies buzzing around the patio area that were quite a nuisance. We kept having to swat them away from our food and, one even fell in a friend’s wine glass. Thankfully, one of the employees offered to bring her a new, fresh glass. So not all was lost. Overall, nice lunch date here and would recommend for a casual meal but if you don’t eat pork/meat you may be limited in your choices… mainly to side items only so be forewarned.

Upon first walking in, you are greeted with a very hip feeling establishment. Walking past the meat displays, you are eager to try anything on the menu… That is until you see the prices. My friend and I both ordered the Cochon Muffaletta and were a fan of the size of the sandwich and the meat/cheese. The olive salad was overpowering and overall made it to where each bite had to be disguised with their sweet potato habernero hot sauce. Our sides were the brussel sprouts and the mac and cheese, which at $ 6 a piece you would expect a nice helping… The mac and cheese was the most redeeming part of the meal in terms of its flavor; fresh cheese, light cream, and a great crust. Sadly, the size of the mac and cheese did disappoint. My friend’s brussel sprouts were okay, but did not deliver a power punch of flavor. We thought we may attempt to pick ourselves up with dessert so I ordered the bacon praline. I would not order it again as you could not really distinguish the bacon and it mostly was a sugar overload. The price of a slice of pie deterred us from placing an order. Overall, a really cool feeling place with a great patio area. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was okay, but overpriced. Did not even bother ordering drinks as they followed the same overpriced trend.

Nice location, small parking lot on site. Indoor/outdoor open air seating. We ordered the pastrami sandwich, muffuletta, Brussels sprouts and potato salad. All were good. Service is stopping me from giving a full 5 stars. We weren’t greeted and took us a second to figure out how/where to order. Once we were, we asked questions about the special and the potato salad which were not really answered but danced around. They didn’t seem very educated or enthusiastic about the food, which is generally common of Nashville and nicer dining spots. I expected more out of this deli. I would have been more exploratory and ordered more had they been more prideful. Also bummed they didn’t have gumbo daily for dine-in. Our food came out in long pauses of each other… one sandwich several minutes before the other so we(awkwardly) waited. Hopefully all this is due to being new. Food tasted good — hoping for a better experience next time.
