Brother’s and Son Marble and Granite

In our weekend long hunt for granite remnants a couple of weeks ago, this is where hubby and I landed.
Is it fancy? Nope. Ultra stylish? Not at all. The location is pretty dismal, hours are a bit flighty, and the owner/​manager/​guy we talked to was at times a bit hard to understand from the strong south-​of-​the-​border like accent.
What I learned from our granite shopping extravaganza:
1. Most granite stores have remnant areas or rooms, and if they don’t, they are charging you too much.
2. The remnant rooms of granite stores are dusty, dirty, and often dimly light.
3. You might encounter the shop resident dog, you might be outside in the snow, you might not be able to see what the remnants look like because they are stacked together tightly in bins where they won’t flop over and break your toe. You have to trust a bit, you could say.
At Brother’s and Son’s, (I have no idea if we worked with the brother, the son, or no relation hired hand), we picked a cool swirled pattern yellow and rust granite from their remnant area, which had a dog about the size of a squirrel, but all the light bulbs were working!
And, get this for actual customer service, the guy carried a shop towel in his pocket and would dust off any remnant you were considering. In addition, their bins had the remnants sorted so the smaller pieces were separate from the larger ones, so you could actually see the granite texture.
There was a forklift blocking some remnants, but the guy moved the forklift. These small things may seem common sense to you and you wonder why I mention such in a review, but trust me, the fact that they had light in their warehouse, dusted off granite, and granted me ample access to view made all the difference. Sold.
And, not that you needed any real further accolades I know, they were $ 5 cheaper per square foot than their closest competitor who, I will add, had only half the lights working, would stare with you in the dimly lit dusty room and say «You know it’ll look great all cleaned up.»
Kudos to Mr. Brother’s and Son’s for taking care of the customer. I couldn’t understand you well enough to know your name or your dog’s name, but I know when I’m being treated well in any language.
