My sons last two birthdays I went to Jake’s and have not been disappointed yet! Not only was the cake amazing but I also got some fancy cupcakes, they were to die for. needless to say I have to order double for his birthday this year. During the holidays I got an ice cream cake, my absolute favorite. is there anything better than ice cream AND cake?! I wont go anywhere else!

First, I want to point out that this review is about a pint of Jake’s ice cream I purchased at a NH grocery store, not about the food truck or bakeshop, neither of which I’ve been to. The pint of ice cream cost $ 4.95. Not a price I am usually willing to pay for a pint of ice cream, but with B&J and Haag. not much cheaper, and the fantastic Talenti products selling at just $.95 less, I thought I’d give this local«premium» ice cream a try. What inspired my interest most of all was the kind of ice cream I chose, based of course on the name and description. «Caramel Assault» sounds like my kind of ice cream, and the description clinched it: «Caramel ice cream with caramel „swirl“, chocolate „hunks“ and a touch of sea salt.» Well, as implied by the extra quotation marks, the caramel«swirl» amounted to literally a couple of little«whisps» of caramel in the entire pint, and the chocolate«hunks», which were not exactly abundant, were more accurately described as «bits». The ice cream itself was okay, but not so good that it made up for the stingy amounts of caramel and chocolate. There are many brands on the shelves and in ice cream shops that are WAY better than this. With something as fun as ice cream, feeling suckered into dropping $ 5 and having your expectations badly let down is really not fun.
