Stayed here over a weekend. Lovely and comfortable. The owners are great. Especially Peggy! A heart map big it amazes me. The breakfast is prepared by Marie Great food a fantastic person. I can’t recommend this place too much!!!

I would give it 1 star based on room 2. The bed is awful– creaky, soft and saggy old mattress. Too many unnecessary tacky decorations — real dust-collectors. I did not like the perfumy odor when we walked in and unplugged the plug-in. I had to stand on a chair to pull down the torn shade for room darkening & privacy at night, and stand on the bed to get to the other one. The shades were as flimsy as they come and badly needed replacing. The shower pressure was a nice surprise at least. But you will get terrific hospitality here at breakfast time. Alas, we were not served on the deck… but the table was beautifully set(see photos) with Fall Harvest colors. Marie waited on us hand and foot and worked really hard to make everything pretty. The food was incredibly abundant and the coffee was good. So, I forgive a sleepless night. Light sleepers beware– the road is noisy and as you are on the ground floor; you can hear loud footsteps overhead and other guests on the same floor. Too bad, because it is in a great location. We were sorry we did not check out the suite on the top level. I have to be honest and can not base the review on our nice and friendly host. I can see this place being perfect for a lot of folks– just not for fussy, fussy me. I actually thought it too pricey for what it is.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and would love to return again. Both the accommodations and breakfast were fantastic and our hosts really went out of their way to accommodate us. We especially enjoyed touring the grounds with beautiful ponds, gardens and critters!

We stayed here for a week and it was heaven. The place looks like a postcard, the breakfasts are yummy, you can walk to the beach, and the owner is great. We stayed in the Suite, which is the entire top floor. Two bedrooms, bath(no tub), living room, kitchen and dining area, private washer & dryer, and our own deck. For our family of four it was perfect(and a nice change from NYC, which we had just been visiting). Note that the Suite may not have breakfasts included so check on this. The beach is within walking distance but it’s a bit of a walk for the wimpier among you. Beach passes are available at the B&B on a first-come/first-served basis, otherwise you have to pay. We had no problems getting passes for our whole family in July. They even had boogie boards available for the kids. If there was anything missing from our time at Sheppard’s Place, we haven’t figured out what it was.
