Three of us have been there twice in a week or so. Seating is reasonably comfortable. Both times we had a table. There are booth and bar seating as well. We had the same server both times — forget his name — and he was cheerful and polite but didn’t bother to tell us about the specials and from order time to dessert time, he didn’t check in to see if anything was needed. I didn’t even know there was a specials board until(after we had already ordered) I heard the server at the next table telling diners there about them. Too bad, as there were two things there I’d probably have ordered rather than what I had. As to the food? On the first visit my son had the hot roast beef sandwich with fries and liked it so much he ordered it again on the second visit. My wife ordered the small Vermont salad with salmon both times and enjoyed it both times. I also enjoyed the roast beef the first time. Last night, however, I had a sandwich with grilled chicken breast which was overcooked and not very tasty. It wasn’t bad enough to ask to have taken off the bill, but I won’t ever order it again. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he barely acknowledged I had said anything. I didn’t undertip, but on the other hand, I didn’t overtip as I often do. The place is not large and has minimal waiting area, but the turnover fast enough no one had to wait too long. We did have to ask several who were awaiting tables to move so we could get to the exit.

We’re lucky to have such a great bar/restaurant right on our block! The PV Pub serves as our go-to for good beers and better food. Get the Caesar salad and an order of buffalo wings! Their soups are the best, and they change their menu seasonally so there’s always something new to try. Perfect neighborhood spot!

This is a great«local» spot. The food is exceptional and surprising for a bar style restaurant. Homemade recipes and menus that change with the season. The atmosphere is relaxed and has personality. I would highly recommend the wings with the pub sauce, mushroom soup and Vermont Salad.

Don’t let Penn Valley in the name confuse you as they are located on Montgomery Ave. in Narberth. And don’t let Pub in the name confuse you as the menu goes way past pub food and is seriously extensive. And especially don’t be confused into thinking this is just another local dive bar as it decidedly is not. On my last visit I blew in for a late weekday lunch and adult libation. The ATMOSPHERE is certainly like a pub. It’s warm and comfortable with lots of dark wood. It’s beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. BTW– there is also a small outdoor seating area. I didn’t feel like a huge meal so I perused the very large menu and began with Ham & Bean soup. It was served quickly at the correct temperature, packed with ingredients and as tasty as one could want. For my meal I ordered Roasted Peppers with Asiago Cheese, Kalamata Olives and Crostini for $ 9. As you can see from my pic it was nicely plated and hit the spot perfectly. It would make a great shared appetizer. Overall my FOOD was well above average. Speaking of above average, that was also true of my bartender. So CUSTOMERSERVICE was solid. So take a look at the menu on their web site. If it looks good and you enjoy a pub atmosphere, add these folks to your list.

I really really wanted to like this place, but it didn’t live up to the reviews. Now I know I’m not in Philly anymore, so my expectations were kind of low, but… Beer list was kind of unimpressive. Killed a star. Came in for dinner and ordered my usual: a burger; my yardstick for civilization. Medium, Bacon, cheddar, and a fried egg. Server seemed a little puzzled, but whatever. Soon came back and said they couldn’t do the fried egg. Couldn’t do a fried egg? Killed a star. Burger came out 35 mins later, way overcooked and over seasoned, kind if like a meatloaf. Killed a star. I’m giving it 2 stars for the friendly staff and the convenience factor, but that’s it.

Came here because we were in the neighborhood. Service was exceptional. Our server was very friendly, did a great job with recommendations, and knew what was in the food and how it was prepared. Food was good, not great. And at $ 70 for two people(one app, two entrees — one meat, one vegetarian — and two drinks), I expect more.

Great food awesome wings. A bit pricey but worth it. Can be very hard to get a table on weekends. It is very popular dare I say a mainline staple

Foe a pub, this place is amazing! Food and service were great! We had the pub wings. They were delicious. Not sure what they put on them but would love the recipe! We also shared the mac and cheese special which was delicious. Prices were reasonable. Loved everything. Would definitely come here again. We didn’t get dessert but it looked amazing. Portions were huge!

My favorite local pub to relax and grab dinner. Filet sandwich is great. Service is on point and everyone is courteous. Bartenders remembered my drink the second time I visited. Looking forward to becoming a regular!

Edit: I am updating my original review from 4 to 5 stars. Every time we have came since the first occasion, the service has been expectational. After driving past this place often and hearing good things about it, I finally decided to stop in with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago for an early dinner. They have outdoor seating, however after sitting out there for a couple minutes we decided to eat inside instead. I personally didn’t care for how close the seats were to all the traffic on Montgomery ave. Also, the outdoor seating has a limited menu, FYI. But, still nice that they have the option to sit outside. My boyfriend and I did not care for our waiter at all. He basically took our orders and then never came back until it was time for the check. We actually saw him standing off somewhere sucking on a popsicle at one point, which we found very odd. However, it seemed like it was just this particular waiter. Other waiters we encountered were very friendly and got us refills and a togo box when we needed it. I think our waiter assumed since my boyfriend and I are younger(we look even younger than we actually are), we weren’t going to leave a good tip so he didn’t want to bother with us. This has happened to us a couple other times at restaurants which is particularly annoying because we go out to eat A LOT and always tip very well. Despite the poor service from our waiter, food was amazing. They give you bread and olive oil to start which was very good. We also split a small caesar salad which we both really enjoyed. My boyfriend got the pub wings which he loved. They have different special mac & cheeses, so I decided to try their lobster mac & cheese. That was amazing! Potentially the best mac & cheese I ever had. I could already go for it again. So, all our food was great and I will probably be back(as long as I don’t get the same waiter). Pricing was just what you’d expect. I would’ve given 5 stars but had to deduct one for our waiter’s poor service.

Stopped here for a early dinner last Friday night with my girlfriend. We originally sat outside, but realized it is a limited menu when dining out there. We moved inside and sat at a booth. Our waiters name was Matt, and i was not pleased with his service. He got our drinks and took our order and we did not see him again till it was time for the check. Other servers were very friendly and got us refills and a box when asked. Me and my girlfriend are younger and I feel servers don’t like waiting on younger people because they feel the tip will be low but having worked in a restaurant I always leave 20% or more. Unfortunately this time i left less due to poor service by our waiter. I gave it 4 stars just based on the food, Everything was great! They give you bread and oil to start which is tasty, just wish the bread was warm. We split the small caesar salad for $ 5 which was a good size for the price. I had the pub wings which were amazing! Best wings in the area in my opinion. My girlfriend got the special lobster mac and cheese which she liked very much. I would definitely stop back here again as long as I don’t get the same server.

I stopped here with some colleagues on Friday for lunch after a recommendation. The inside, though a little dark and small, seemed clean. We opted to sit outside because of the beautiful weather. The fact that they had outdoor seating was awesome. The waiter was polite and professional. They had a fantastic IPA on draft which I’d never heard of before. I had the chicken wrap with avocados, pepper jack, salsa and ranch dressing. The french fries were really, really good. The wrap itself was large but I’d say just«ok» in terms of flavor. My colleagues had the pub style wings and thought they were really good. Overall, I’d give this place another try but would definitely try something else on the menu.

This my go to spot for fried chicken wings. You get a ton of wings for a decent price. Ive had all of the flavors and they are all delicious. This is not the place to go if you like your wings spicey but the wings are crunchy and saucey(a.k.a. perfect).

My husband and I fondly call the Pub of Penn Valley the PVP(because we’re pretty convinced it’s really called the Penn Valley Pub…). We consider it our go-to when e don’t know where we want to eat… The bar staff is great– they’re always so welcoming and helpful(not to mention patient when I don’t know what I want to order). The food is good, but way overpriced. I guess you can be overpriced when you’re one of the best/only restaurants in the neighborhood. I do have one complaint– once on an especially crowded night the hostess completely overlooked us and seated the couple behind us who walked in after us, but they knew by name. Definitely put a bad taste in my mouth, but because we love the bar staff and it’s a great local joint, we decided to forgive and forget. Watch out for a celebrity sighting– we saw Charles Barkley there and heard he’s there fairly often.

Good neighborhood spot for a quick dinner and drinks. My friend and I came here on a weeknight with his kids and it was accommodating to everyone — the kids ate a burger and pasta while the adults had a beer, salads and sandwiches. Staff is friendly and they work hard. It’s a classic pub with ice cold draughts, TVs behind the bar showing the game and conversation flowing.

I came to the Pub of Penn Valley for lunch and was really surprised at how nice it is! Showed up under the assumption that a good gastropub couldn’t possibly exist outside city limits. A lot of the bar/restaurant areas in the Narberth/Bala Cynwyd area have really failed to deliver much more than crappy bar food. It’s kind of a dining wasteland out there. But, wrong I was to assume that the Pub of Penn Valley would be like all the others. The food here was great! I had a fall themed turkey and apple slaw panini which was excellent. Other pros: Great outside seating area Friendly, efficient service Large lunch menu Reasonable prices The only con I can find with this place is that there isn’t a lot of available parking nearby during the day. It seems like most places are reserved for some other shop. Loved this place and will definitely be back again soon.

Really Good, consistent spot. This place is definitely more of a restaurant than a pub/bar and their menu is very diverse(which can often be a bad thing), but this place delivers solid, consistent food. Good beers on tap, nice spot for lunch or dinner. I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I haven’t had the wings, but I’ve heard many people claim they are the best they’ve ever had. Very happy to have this place as a nearby option!

3 ½ stars for this one. It’s a local staple: the food is good across the board, the people are friendly, and you’ll always run into someone you know. It’s not a pub as such in the British sense, but it’s a nice little restaurant with a bar(and it does show sports). They do takeout food too, which is great. Best kept secret: Try the chicken fingers in their ‘pub sauce’, holy crap they are delicious.

My wife and I go here often — it’s our favorite pub. They have a patio(with a more limited menu) which is a little close to the street where cars fly by but still really nice when the weather is appropriate. All of their patio food is fantastic. Really good burgers(they’ve never messed mine up) and delicious, charbroiled, juicy chicken sandwiches. I actually don’t think I’ve ever had a bad sandwich here. Their chicken Caesar salad is also really good. Moving inside, their dinners are actually really good(especially for the price). I’ve had about 4 or 5 of their entrees and have never been even remotely disappointed. Their slow-roasted ½ chicken with corn bread stuffing and honey glaze is really good. They used to have this really good beef tips and gnocchi dish, but I’m not sure if they have it anymore. That’s another thing — they seem to change the menu up pretty often. All of their appetizers are good. The fried pierogies with bacon are a favorite of mine. The special mac and cheese is also always good. They also always have a selection of 4 or more really good desserts. They have a great beer selection here. Usually something from flying fish and/or great lakes on tap. They also have bottles of anchor steam and chimay among others. I think they have $ 2 Yuenglings after 10pm on weekdays which is cool. They also have a late night menu which isn’t bad. Finally, the ambiance is really nice here. It has a small English pub feel. Nice décor, nice booths, and nice bar. The service is always fantastic and friendly. The only thing I don’t like about the pub is that it’s generally packed until at least 9pm, so you’ll usually have to wait for a seat.

I have had wings in many different cities in the US and these wings are far and away the best! I’ve probably had them 20 different times and I have never, ever been let down by the pub wings. Not only is the sauce excellent, but the chicken wings are always huge and have tons of meat. Aside from the pub wings, which everyone should try at least once, the rest of the menu is very good too. I’ve enjoyed different types of soups and sandwiches for lunch, dinner and even late night(I believe the kitchen still stays open past midnight). The PV Pub is small and gets filled up quickly, especially for dinner, there is also not much waiting room, so come early or hope to get lucky.
