Calistoga Bakery Cafe

A very tasty gourmet sandwich place. Last time I went I had the turkey artichoke panini and loved it. Every time I go I try something new and haven’t been let down yet. The furniture has sort of a 1995 feel and the tables are so worn out they constantly feel sticky. But I don’t go for fine dining I just want a good quick sandwich on fresh bread and this place doesn’t disappoint.

I love the Russian River Sandwich and Calistoga salad. Not fond of the oranges on the salad but the candid walnuts are delicious!

We went to Calistoga after a day of shopping and found it to be good but a little pricey for what you are getting. Food and the minimal service was more than acceptable however.

Panera??? This place is exactly like Panera. The menu is slightly different, but you will pretty much think you’re there. So, if you don’t have a Panera near by, you can try this. If you have a Panera near by… you might as well just go there.

I’m rather torn about my experience at Calistoga. I have a bit of a love/​hate relationship with this place. The idealistic impression of this place rings well with a homey type of atmosphere where you want to indulge in a panini and a french onion soup over quiet conversation, but execution of the menu items have been off lately, almost to the point they’re just pushing out items without caring about the quality of their product.
There are a few redeeming qualities to this place. The location and set up is great. They have a nice outside dining area with a fountain in the middle that is dog friendly. Depending on the Florida weather, it makes it feel like you’re dining inside. They renovated the inside to make better flow of the space. And they now have GPS type of pagers where you can bring the pager to your table and a staff person will bring your food right out to you. It’s a nice little touch so it doesn’t crowd the front with dine-​in orders.
They also improved the way you order your «build your own» omelettes. They used to have a separate stand where you’d have to pay in one place and then place your order where they make it. It was quite confusing for people who didn’t know they had to pay first and be in the wrong line. Now, they have a built in area where they make omelettes behind the ordering counter. They also renovated and upgraded the coffee station. They have a place where you can dispense your own coffee, and instead of dealing with all the pesky ripping of paper and opening up creamers, they have auto-​dispensers for both the milk/​cream AND for sugar. There’s no guess work involved anymore. It’s beautiful having everything at the push of a button.
Their sandwich options are also very decent. The menu becomes fool proof when you opt for the «Pick Two» half sandwich with a soup or salad. My recommendations are the turkey artichoke panini, the smoked salmon, the french onion soup, tomato bisque, and the original cobb.
We were there on a weekend where we ordered our favorite omelettes. Paul H. usually gets everything, and I stick with sausage, spinach, onion and goat cheese. They actually did a decent job with the omelette. Sometimes it’s hit or miss depending on who makes the omelette, but this one was actually a nice consistency, didn’t lay flat, and wasn’t runny this time. However, the potatoes were cold, and they don’t serve the chocolate strawberry anymore.
I really have high hopes for this place because it’s a nice healthy choice to dining outside in a casual-​type of atmosphere, where you can peruse your tablet by the fire, people watch, or enjoy conversations with friends or strangers. I hope that with the new renovations, they’ll up their game with their menu. You might want to fix the way you spell «Chipotle». Costly mistake.
2 – 2015

Customer service stinks and the manager is a jerk. I called to place a to-​go order, and was told they close in 5 minutes (8:00 p.m.). I said I can be there in 8 minutes, and the manager relayed that if I show up even a minute after 8:00, it’s too late, they are closing the registers. Sheesh, can’t hold it for 3 minutes? They couldn’t even make the food that fast! How to not run a business 101. What kind of restaurant closes at 8:00 p.m. anyway?
Lost me as a customer for good.

Uh oh. Calistoga changed up the bear claw recipe. It looks & tastes suspiciously like plain bread. They should re-​label them puppy paw.

I’m always on the lookout for good «work» coffee shops. That is, a place where you can take your laptop, plug-​in, and get some work done in a comfortable environment. I tried Calistoga the other day for the first time.
Pros: the large booths make for comfortable seating, and each of the large booths has its own electrical outlet. The food is decent. Coffee is pretty good.
Cons: It’s chain-​y. That is, it feels like a chain. The internet was spotty on the day I went… which is a big deal if you’re settling in to get things done and req the internet.
The big con, on the day I went, was that it rained and the parking lot doesn’t drain properly. It was completely flooded. When I stepped out into the parking lot my shoe completely submerged in ankle deep water. This wasn’t localized, like a puddle… but consistent around the entire parking lot. Very deep water. No exaggeration.
Since then – I’ve been hoping to return… but it rains pretty often in FL… and I literally have to make sure that it won’t be raining much before a return trip.
If they fixed that… it would be a solid option. I’d prefer a locally owned little hole in the wall… but those types of places are scarce in FL. When they do exist they tend to be lacking in things like space/​electric and are less amenable to you camping out for a few hours for just a small purchase.
In any case – I hope they find away to address their drainage problems.

We went to Calistoga for breakfast about 10 days ago, and it was a huge disappointment. The only thing good about it was that the coffee was the same high quality as ever. The spinach and goat cheese omelet was a different story altogether. Apparently, they decided to use frozen spinach instead of fresh as a cost cutting measure. The result had a predictably bitter taste. The muffin was ok, but the hashbrowns were not as tasty as they had been on previous visits. My wife told me that a previous visit about two weeks before had been similarly disappointing. Oh, well. Won’t be back for breakfast anytime soon.

The new branding that Calistoga is going through is terrible. They changed the menu, they’ve become stingy with their portions, their Broccoli Cheddar and Mac n Cheese are no longer as good as they used to be…
My family and I visit Naples once every 2 – 3 months and Calistoga was our favorite place to eat at. Unfortunately, it isn’t any more…
Bring the old Calistoga back!

For breakfast coffee was not strong enough, bagels were just bread, not a true bagel, omelet was great. I’ll have to try the bold coffee next time I’m in town

Its a nice alternative to Panera bread. The sandwich selection is nice. I had the Chipotle chicken sandwich and I can say that the Panera bread version is better.

A nice alternative to Panera Bread, their menu is more simple and «down-​home.» Friendly staff and outdoor seating make this a great stop for a quick and yummy bite.

What a great cup of dark roast! Worth driving past Sbux to get this. Panera-​esque menu very tasty.

I stopped here to grab a few bagels, an espresso, and a fruit cup. The bagels were satisfactory, but nothing special, the espresso was just ok, and I had to wait 5 – 10 min for a fruit cup which seems ridiculous. I hope to find a more authentic bagel shop next time I’m in Naples. This place looks like it may be better for full breakfasts.

Great food. Yummy soup and sandwiches and cookies. This is the best/​nicest location. Calistoga beats panera hands down!

I’m completely in love with Calistoga. It seems like any other fast-​casual sandwich shop, but the food is delicious. I usually go for the pick two option and get the Santa Rosa club sandwich and the chef salad. They have great soups too. I love their dressings and sauces. Calistoga is usually my top choice for lunch.

I’m not usually a fan of chains, but for some reason Calistoga has gotten its claws into me. This is on the top of the list of my lunch places.
I love the «choose 2» option for $ 7.99, how can you not?! I usually go for the smoked salmon sandwich with either a soup or salad. The sandwich is a good portion of smoked salmon with cucumber, tomato, and a basil-​chive aioli. It’s served on ciabatta bread, which is soft and chewy. The french onion soup and lobster bisque are good. For the salads, I’ve only tried the caesar and a bite of the wedge, but both are delicious.
You order/​pay at the counter and then they call your name when the food is ready. It usually takes no more than 5 min. It’s a great place to go for a quick, affordable lunch. I’m addicted!

I wish we had Calistoga in Miami! It’s easy to compare them to Panera, but they’re a world better than Panera.
We first discovered them at Coconut Pointe a few months ago and were blown away by their meatball sandwich. This past weekend, we made sure to stop at Calistoga on our way into Naples.
The meatball sandwich is so big we split one. The sauce is very tasty and so are the huge meatballs inside. The bread is really good, and they melt mozzarella cheese on top of the sandwich.
The pastries look really good, too. Hopefully next time we’re in Naples we’ll try the pastries.

I have been a faithful costumer of Calistoga since when it opened with huge success on Pine Ridge & Airport. At that time during lunch hour one had to wait in line at least 5 – 10 min to get something to eat. The inside area and outside were full of people. It was THAT popular.
Its my understanding Calistoga now has opened a few stores especially in the malls such as Costland, Gulf Coast Town Mall. Maybe they want to make this a chain or smth. Im personally iffy bout that.
Yes, there is a lot of young workers at Calistoga but that shouldn’t bother anyone as long as they get your order right. They never messed up MY order and I always left satisfied.
The food is great but for those that are ready to shell a few bucks for quality and taste.

Grecian Insalata (Basically Greek Salad)
Original Cobb Salad
French Onion Soup (great)
Chicken Noodle Soup (one of my favs)
Pazzo Chicken Foccacia
Russian River Chicken
Santa Rosa Club
Chicken Chipotle Pressata
Also, try the orange juice ~ freshly squizzed with no additives.
