Sherwin-Williams Paint Store

Dan was fabulous, he has great advice. He will give you his honest opinion on which paints to use for which room. He suggested things I never even thought of! We wanted low or zero VOC paint. He suggested which one would be best for trim, another great paint for the bathroom and he suggested he would include a special additive to help prevent mold which is suitable for a bathroom where there are higher levels of moisture. He then helped us pick out paints for each room and we really appreciated his advice. For the kids room I asked for a flat finish paint but he suggested going with satin which is easier to clean. Just just fabulous. Our experience would not have been as great if not for him. He really went above and beyond. And helped us cart out our paints to the car even! So so impressed.

SW paints aren’t quite what they used to be (like everything else I suppose) but this store will do their best for you. They’ve always been nice to deal with and will even find an account with a better discount for you if you ask since DIYers always get hosed on prices at paint stores in comparison to contractors.
I had an issue with SuperPaint exterior paint fading considerably after only a few years and the store stood behind the 25 year warranty and gave me several gallons of Duration to repaint. I was expecting the normal warranty problems but received no grief. Yeah sure, I wished I didn’t have to repaint at all, but at least the store didn’t give me any hassles. I just hope the Duration doesn’t fade like the SuperPaint or that will be it for me and SW products.

Well, it’s a paint store and I’m a person who has a mild to moderate level aversion to deciding wall paint color.
It stresses me out, but not because I’m worried about how ish is going to look, but because I literally cannot think of anything more mind-​numbing than staring at swatches that are only vaguely varied. Lemme put it this way, I would rather watch the paint dry, than sit there and f*cking stare at eggshell, manila and off-​white samples in different light. This is *my* water torture.
But alas… it was time for a change, and I *guess* I’m grateful for the nudge. For better part of the last 2 decades and at 2 different houses, I’ve been living out of a bright orange bedroom. Sounds fun, right? Well it was… for like, the first 5 years… then the next 13, to be honest, were kind of played out. Plus my hair’s also been bright orange for the last five years as well, and I think I was veering that point where things were getting kind of creepy… like Picasso’s blue period, only I never did anything of value or praise.
Anyway, I’ve been going to Sherwin-​Williams for all my wall color needs because my parents recommended it, and they have an account there with all their saved info and I guess there was some sale thing going on as well. I stared at swatches for longer than I ever want to stare at swatches ever again. The color swatch book I had seemed like it had a ton of colors, but then when I got to the store and they were organized so I didn’t have flip things back and forth in a book, it didn’t seem so expansive… but I suppose I’m glad because that way I could at least get out of there a bit faster.
The sales people vary each day and of the 3 days I had gone in, I don’t think I ever saw the same person. Some would check in and offer help right off the bat, some would solely work the counter and answer customer questions at check out and the girl on my last visit would mutter annoyances under her breath as she only begrudgingly acknowledged customers and ordered her co-​worker man around with one stern B-​face. I felt bad leaving him there with her… but he was too old for DCFS and I had to be somewhere at 5 sooo it was outta my hands.
Anyway, everything was just fine. Besides the crabby patty on my last visit, everyone else had been both friendly and helpful and we were able to get in and out right quick.
My one regret + quick tip would be that I didn’t see the Keurig K-​cup Chai latte flavor until just this last visit, and even though it was 9,000 degrees outside, I still felt I needed to have a cup just so I could say I did. Amenities are few and far between these days so I make it a point to take advantage whenever possible.
