Shared a 32 oz. Porterhouse and our waiter recommended rare since I usually order medium rare at other steakhouses. I trusted his advice. It definitely wasn’t medium rare, but probably between rare and medium rare. Regardless, every bite was tender with that umami finish. The Porterhouse is dry-aged for 21 days. Also tried the white truffle mushrooms. If it wasn’t for the delicious steak, my review would have been 3-stars because the mushrooms were not worth the price. The sauce was watery and it lacked the expected earthy truffle flavor. We had some Filet left over plus plenty of meat on the bone from the Porterhouse and requested that our leftovers be packed to go. After driving off, I noticed that the take-out bag was too light for a Porterhouse bone(WITHMEAT) to be in it. Low and behold, they threw away the bone. I don’t know about most of you, but the meat on that bone is the best part. Yes, I could have gnawed on it in the restaurant, but didn’t want to scare off any patrons in this fine dining establishment. This ruined my night, but I guess I could have been more specific on what I wanted packed up. Regardless, the Porterhouse was exquisiite. Ambience is rustic at Cole’s, but classy. Fancy enough to take your date, but casual enough to enjoy a steak dinner with some buddies. Worth a visit on your next Napa visit.

Disappointed! Read such great reviews but the star of the show(the steak) was disappointing. Tender yes but zero flavor! No garlic, no onion, so little sear… On the plus side the cocktails were great as were the side dishes(spinach and gratin potatoes). This is the only reason for a 4… We had a reservation. The man who met us at the door looked like Capt Kangaroo minus sideburns. He did not even say hi– he was too busy on the phone. Rude. Then he put us at probably the worst table – upstairs, far corner. Ok… We spent close to $ 300 for the 2 of us… not sure why we were snubbed Our waiter, Weston, was great! He redeemed the evening admirably. Bottom line, salt n pepper your steaks and avoid the rude greeter. Cheers!

Very good bone in ribeye chop. The spinach and mashed potatoes are very good. The wine list is very good and I usually run a flight from starter to desert wine at the bar. The downside is the crowd, pretentious and stuffy or stupid drunk posh idiots with little regard for propriety. The other thing is they really cannot make a drink beyond the basic American roadhouse standbys that you can get anywhere.

TOTALLYDISAPOINTINGEXPERIENCE! We’ve had this restaurant on our list to try for some time and were really looking forward to this dinner as we like trying new good steak house restaurants! We made reservations and were greeted/seated promptly. Server greeted us promptly and asked for our beverage order. Ordered a wedge salad, the fish dish of the day(Alaskan Halibut) and the New York Steak with 2 sides(thin onion rings and cream spinach). The wedge salad was delicious and that’s were our meal took a turn for the worst! The fish had NO taste at all and was rubbery. The steak had a thick grisly vein thing right in the middle of it and a very weird taste. Needles to say it wasn’t editable. When the busboy came by to get our plates he looked down obviously noticed the steak hadn’t been eaten but didn’t say a word. The creamed spinach was bland and not very good either. We got our bill $ 150 for 2 of us and left totally disappointed and hungry! This place was the worst steak house restaurant we’ve ever experienced! How this place has the reviews it has is baffling to me.

4 stars for food. 5 stars for service. Cole’s service was phenomenally good and really added to the dining experience(would that more restaurants would realize this, sigh). Lobster bisque was a touch too salty. Brussels sprouts are standard prep: grilled, halved, tasty diced bacon bits — but well executed. Veal chop was 4 stars: a little too beefy tasting, but great texture and perfect grilling. We asked if we could sub the mashed potato side for a potato gratin, but were informed they don’t do substitutions. We said that was fine, can you leave off the mash and just bring the gratin as a side? Waiter(Manny) said of course, so we were very surprised when our plates came, each one with a perfect square of delicious gratin! It was not busy that evening, but we were still surprised. An even bigger surprise was that they didn’t charge us the cost of the gratin. Now that was a great customer service gesture! We will definitely return(we come to Napa 1−2x/yr, on multi-day trips) and next time, we’re bringing a couple of friends with us who also love good meat and potatoes. Cole’s is highly recommended(and btw, they have an excellent whiskey/bourbon list too).

If you’re in the area… stop in! The filet mignon was fantastic, done perfectly. We also got a crab appetizer that was fabulous – fresh and full of flavor. My husband also got a steak that was on special and was equally satisfied. The décor consists of brick and low lighting, great for a chill night or a hot date. Would recommend and will be back!

Nice fancy dinner to end our day in Napa. Difficult to find parking, but just valet! It was either free or super cheap from what I recall — totally worth it. Food was very good. I particularly enjoyed my beef wellington and my boyfriend enjoyed his ribeye. My sister did not like her filet mignon — it tasted game-y. The bananas flambé was impressive and tasted of lots of liquor. I liked the ice cream and bananas and pushed the liquor syrup to the side. Four entrees, a couple sides, a couple hot teas and a dessert rang up to $ 350-ish pre-tip. There is only one bathroom stall for woman! Decently clean, but not as impressive as the rest of the restaurant.

Came here for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed! The staff was on top of their stuff and constantly checked in with us. Our food was made perfect to our order. I had the 10oz filet medium rare and my lady had the 10oz filet medium. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. Our sides were the au gratin and grilled asparagus.

Triple Crown of Restaurants in Napa Valley… Yes, I’ve been to Cole’s three times in the last year. I own restaurants for a living, and with that statement I assure you I am the most forgiving customer in the world. I would never criticize another persons restaurant; nor do I think any Unilocaler should; that has not opened and successfully run a restaurant of their own!!! If I did have several bad experiences, I would simply not go back, period, end of sentence, no need to go on and on about a particularly bad experience that maybe happens once! Now the antithesis to all of that negativism. Just had to say that to Unilocaler’s… When you run across a restaurant such as Cole’s, serving the quality of food that they do, in an elegant atmosphere with friendly, accommodating staff, you’ve got to stop and commend them for the excellent job that they do!!! As an example, I ordered the«Special — fish of the day» which happened to be halibut. From many past experiences, I have noticed that the nicer places do not serve it with tartar sauce, they usually rely on some nice homemade topping, which is fine, but I enjoy tartar sauce. When I asked to please bring some with my fish, I was informed that they do not have any in the house. But before I could even say«that’s ok» I was informed that they would be «Happy to make me some from scratch» — What! Really? I don’t know what they put in that sauce, but it was the finest I have ever eaten in 63 years… which made my perfectly cooked halibut Spectacular! Needless to say the evening was an absolutely delightful experience on all levels of food and hospitality. All three times, the meals that I have eaten, and those of all my guests, have been in the«extraordinarily exceptional» category. I look forward to coming to Napa, just to eat at Cole’s. Bön Appétit

Despite my car accident that happened Friday night in front of Coles Chop House I still decided to dine in… It was passed 9pm and my boyfriend had reservations at 830pm. I wasn’t feeling to great but I was still in the mood to eat. The atmosphere is amazing, the food was excellent, ambience was low and the service was just out of my world! I am so pleased w/my experience here! Totally turned my evening around! You may think it’s expensive but compared to RuthSteak?! You get more out Coles Chop House! I ordered seafood of the day and my boyfriend ordered steak. We also had crab appetizers! Yes come here! Yes it’s expensive but you get a decent sized meal! I’m just so happy! I am a returning customer!

We ordered their famous hash browns for an appetizer. They had a very fresh potato taste. The hash browns were highly recommended by other users.(A must have here). The crab cocktail was fresh and good — but they may not have been to our individual liking(they had onions or scallions and we’re not big onion people). Very fresh. We ordered two 10 oz filet mignons: Both the same temp(M.R.): one was very tender and tasty with virtually no gristle. The other was a bit charred, but described as my table mate as very good, minus the searing. The wines can be very expensive — or within a price point which you set, by asking the sommelier. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the foods and friendly. All in all, this is a great place in Napa and is one of our favorites here. We will be back. 4.5÷5 stars.

This is the most expensive place in the world! I got a steak for me and my iguana. For the price I could have flown to Manhattan, Bought a penthouse next to Central Park, Bought the REAL Mona Lisa, And still have extra money for a mansion in the Hamptons. Lesson well learned!

Cole’s is a great place for a nice fancy dinner in Napa. There’s complimentary valet parking at the rear of the building. Trying to find parking elsewhere during dinner time will be difficult. The interior is small, even with a second floor dining area, I think its small. Nothing screams luxury or anything like that. It just looks like any other restaurant to me. Maybe I’m just used to LA’s over the top restaurants? Service was great. I forget our servers name but he was on point the whole night. So onto the food… I had a ribeye steak and it was deee-lish! Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Very tender and juicy. My girlfriend ordered Beef Wellington(special) and it was hella good! I wish that I had ordered that instead. My girlfriends sister ordered filet mignon and it had a funky taste to it. We couldn’t figure out what it was. Is this even from a cow? On the side we had their famous hash browns and creamed spinach. I’d pass on the creamed spinach. Hash browns were great but it made me crave eggs and bacon. For dessert the table shared crème brûlée and bananas foster. The bananas foster comes out flaming. Both were excellent. Cole’s isn’t cheap. Dinner for four was expensive, a little too expensive for what you actually get. Would I dine here again? Maybe.

Wow! Nothing I ate disappointed me or was underwhelming. Heck. Even the coffee was delicious! I made reservations for dinner through Open Table about a month ago. Apparently dinner here goes quick so try to make them early. We arrived 10 min before and was told our table was finishing up. Which led to a 20 min wait. We went to the bar and was pleasantly surprised with a small plate of crackers and ceviche(off the menu) by the manager to make up for the wait. Off the bat, service was very timely and considerate. What we ate: Oyster Rockefeller Lobster and Shrimp bisque Special of the evening– Beef Wellington Bone in rib eye Potato gratin Creamed spinach Brussels sprouts Bananas foster A few of their signature cocktails Coffee and cappuccino I recommend starting with a similar menu if it’s your first time here. This was a great spread for the 4 of us with room to spare. I have a doggy bag that I’m taking home on the plane with me. One of the best steakhouses I’ve had. The beef Wellington is delicious(steak in Vegas is still a favorite) and doesn’t come on very many restaurant menus so try it when you can!

Omg, i can still taste the steak. It was delicious. I ordered the rib eye because it’s my favorite cut of meat. It was less fatty/marbled than I expected, which was a good/bad thing. Who really needs all that fat? But a good marbling makes it taste even better. My friend got the 21-day Chicago dry-aged New York Steak. It was the clear winner of the two. My friend clearly saw my envy, and gave me a little extra to try. For sides, we got the brussel sprouts, sauted mushroom caps, and the potato gratin. They were all good, but the gratin was my favorite. For desserts, my friend got the pecan pie(I despise pecan pie, so I didn’t bother trying it). and I got the bread pudding with the sauce on the side. The bourbon whiskey sauce was sweet and tasty, but I prefer my bread pudding less sweet. So without the sauce, it was delicious — paired with coffee, it was exactly what I was looking for. Let’s not forget the service, definitely top notch — attentive, but not overbearing. I would definitely come back in a heart beat, but only on special occasions because my digestive system can’t handle that much food, nor can my wallet sustain that damage.

My husband surprised me the first night of our honeymoon with reservations at this restaurant. When we arrived there was flowers on table for me and champagne brought to the table! Our food was incredible. I have celiac and have to eat gluten free and there were so many options for me. The service was fantastic and the drinks were Delish from the bar. I am liking forward to our next trip back here already!

My girlfriend and I went to Cole’s while in town with two other couples. Unfortunately the couple who made the reservation for us picked a Friday in lent. Sigh. Not surprising for a steak place, there were minimal alternative options. I ended up eating Lobster Bisque in a puff pastry and got a Caesar salad. Both were good, but the salad was nothing to write home about. The other members of the group all got steaks and liked them. My girlfriend and I did end up getting pecan pie and crème brûlée. Both were excellent. The big drawback of Cole’s is that is is very expensive. Most of the steaks are between 40 and 60 dollars and no sides are included. You also should make sure to make a reservation well in advance. If you are comfortable dropping $ 150 for a dinner for two then consider Cole’s, but otherwise look elsewhere.

Very good experience and a must when coming to Napa. Make sure to make reservations prior. Our waiter was amazing and was very good when making recommendations for wineries and restaurants. As for the food … We shared the brie… Which I was not a big fan of. Entrée … I had the flank steak with chimichuri, comes with a side of truffle fries … Yummmm. The steak was juicy, cooked to perfection, and very tasting For sides we all share the Brussels sprouts and the hash brown. The hash brown was not the best selection, I didn’t not enjoy it much For dessert we had the crème brûlée and the banana froster Overall, the experience was very nice !

Came here on a whim. One of the best unplanned things we’ve done while in Napa. Service, ambience(we didn’t get to sit inside, but outside was pretty none the less), and food was all impeccable. My girls and I weren’t big on eating that weekend(more drinking of course lol) so we decided to share dishes. For appetizers we had oysters and for our entrees we ordered pork chops and steak. We enjoyed all three, especially the steak. The steak was cooked to perfection. Nice char on the outside with just enough pink to make the steak soft and tender. The single thing we all loved the most was their open bottle service. This is the ONLY place I’ve tried that allowed us to open two different wine bottles at the same time with two glasses filled at the same time as well. This was one of those times that proves you can still have an amazing time and make unforgettable memories even if you don’t stick to the plan.

They got it right here! The wife and I were in town for our honeymoon and had to come here on my brothers recommendation. From the second we walked in the attention to detail and attentiveness was evident. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive without being too overbearing. I had the bone in ribeye which you can taste the aging on and really enjoy the marbelization of it. My wife had lobster which was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! Sides, we got the homefries and creamed spinach and we were very pleased with our selection. All in all the ambiance, dim lit upstairs, romantic setting, half open kitchen, it all adds up for a great dining experience in a beautiful ambiance… highly recommend it!
