Northern Lights Cinema Grill

We have been wanting to try this place for a while now. When we got to the mall, there were not clear directions as to where the movie theatre was at so we parked in the front of the main entrance and after looking at the overall map of the mall, we found where it was at but had to walk quite a ways. Once we got to the theatre, we realized there were easier places to park but we won’t make that mistake again. For all you who will be planning on visiting this place, park in the back of the mall, on the south side of the building, you will have direct access to the theatre without having to walk through the entire mall.
So we finally go in and there was a long line to purchase tickets and order food if you wish. Movie prices are super cheap ($ 3 a person). The line wasn’t moving until another person jumped on a register and the lines cleared up in minutes. We ordered a hot dog and chicken nachos, can’t go without Junior Mints through a movie and a large drink. It came to $ 23 which we thought it wasn’t bad at all. Once you pay, they give you a number to take to your seats and they deliver the food to your seat/​table when the food is ready. You enter the theatre and they are the old classic movie theatre seats. Nothing like the new comfy recliners but I really like having a table in front of me. I think the concept of this place is really cool.
The food came 10 – 15 minutes into our movie. It can be a little distracting as the servers are constantly coming in and out to deliver food but then again, that’s the uniqueness about this place. The food was just average, my wife did not like the chicken nachos which were $ 8.50. As for my hot dog, I asked the cashier if the hot dogs were all beef and she didn’t know and I told her no biggie, it will be dark in the theatre. The hot dog was just average, nothing special.
They did have handicap seating where you could roll up a wheelchair at the back of the theatre. As for the experience, I really enjoyed it. It was one of the first times that the volume was not quite loud enough but all in all, we had a great time and we will definitely come back and try different things. After the movie, I visited the restroom and the restroom was nice and clean.
Negatives:
— The cinema is located next to a nail salon so as you leave the movies, a strong smell of acrylic nails consumes the hall way. If you park and leave out the back of the mall, it’s your best bet to avoid this smell.
— Hard to see your food as it is really dark in the movie theatre
— Need better directions how to get to this place for first time visitors

When I come here I feel like I am coming to The Flicks, but without the foreign films. I think that Northern Lights is the perfect place for a date or girls night out. It is a very nice place. They have a cool variety of beer and fantastic hamburgers.

I love this place! They have tables inside the theater rooms and serve you food while you are watching your movie!
They serve beer & wine, for those of you who like to drink! The theater is 21 and over after 6, which is perfect for a nice quiet movie without screaming children.
The staff at the counter are very friendly.
I would give them five stars, but I’m taking one star away for them nearly always getting my food wrong. Still giving them 4 out of 5 for everything else and the fact that they are good about fixing their mistakes.
I’d recommend this place to anyone who enjoys an inexpensive, good dinner and a movie night, a quiet theater, and a fun experience.
The movies are only $ 3.00!

What a great surprise! I had heard of this theater previously but just got the opportunity to check it out after 2 years of living in the treasure valley. I expected a run down second run mall theater, but I was surprised to find a very clean and modern looking theater. There are only the 2 screens, limited movie options, and the theater is a little hard to find, but it is definitely worth checking out. The way they approach in theater dining is great and doesn’t cause for any major disruptions while the movie is playing. The leg room and space between rows is by far the best I’ve seen at any theater.

Came last night to this theater. It is a bit hard to find for the first-​timers. It is located inside the mall towards the rear end. The movie theater is very spacious. Each row of seats has their own long table. We went for the 2 for $ 22 deal on Tuesday nights. You get 2 movie tickets, 2 entrees, and 2 drinks for the cost. We arrived 20 minutes before the movie started and we still had plenty of good seats to pick from. Food was surprisingly good! I had the ranch burger and it was really tasty. My husband had a pizza. He said there was a lot of cheese on it, but not that great. I wish this place was closer to Boise central, I would be there all the time!

So much fun! We love this theatre. We’ve watched 2 – 3 movies there now and have loved the service. Bar-​type food, comfortable chairs, and nice clean tables to sit at. Their prices are affordable which makes it even better. My kids love the wide aisles to walk in during kids movies. It’s great because it isn’t overly packed and I don’t have to feel like my kids are bothering others when they move from my lap to their seat a few times throughout the movie.

Great place to have a date night on the spur of the moment. Dinner drinks dessert and a movie for less than 30 bucks for two people that’s pretty good! The food is good desserts are good! Very enjoyable place to go. !!

I don’t know what’s up with this place, but they are continually going downhill!
This has been our favorite weekly getaway since they opened, but they act like a business that is getting ready to go out of business.
We visited last night, and were helped by a new girl. We were seeing the last movie of the night, and were running late. The popcorn maker was empty, and there were two bags of popcorn sitting open on the counter. We asked if she was going to make a new batch. She said no, and grabbed one of the bags from the counter. We asked her for butter, and she started to add it to the top of this cold bag. We asked if she could dump half back in the popper, so we could get butter halfway down the bag. She acted annoyed, but did as we requested. She had accidentally poured a full beer for us instead of the sample we requested. We sampled that, and when I asked for a pitcher of another variety, without a word, she grabbed the almost full cup and poured it out. She was closing up just after the last movie was started. This meant that anyone who wanted refreshments after the movie started was just plain out of luck.
We normally eat dinner at Northern Lights while watching the movie, but frankly, the food has been inconsistent, and we again chose to eat at home before the movie.
The bathrooms have not been thoroughly cleaned again, and it was very evident last night. We have noticed the topical-​only cleaning for a long time. A sanitary seat cover holder was broken and on the floor in one stall. Another was empty. A faucet running a stream of water could not be turned off. The toilet backs, floor and garbage cans are filthy. Even a decorative flower vase on the counter was filthy.
Once the movie ended, we stopped by the restrooms. There had only been 5 people in the theater (including the two of us). Before my husband could get out of the bathroom, the lights were turned off everywhere. A worker saw me standing in the dark by the tables, apologized and quickly turned on the lights.
We really hope that Northern Lights will pull it together. We would sorely miss this establishment and don’t know why they can’t make it work.

My wife and I watch the UFC at the Nampa theater. I goofed up and bought tickets at the Salem, OR theater. When I tried to pick up the tickets in Nampa, there obviously weren’t any to pick up. The Northern Lights staff were very helpful and offered to refund the tickets. The event was sold out in the theater. One of the employees instead set us up with a booth and we were still able to enjoy the event. OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!! We will continue to go to the Northern Lights and highly recommend it.

A nice place to enjoy a beer and food with friends and watch a movie. A fun alternative to the Reel and Edwards.

Movies are great, prices are really good, i think $ 3. Food is not so good, had the nacho, s and kids cheese pizza. Both not good. Did not eat it.

We’ve gotten into the habit of waiting for movies to hit cheap theaters, just so we can see them at Northern Lights. The staff is friendly, the food is well portioned and the menu includes a little of everything. Oh, and it’s tasty. They deliver your meal right to your seat during the movie. They have a nice beer and wine selection and there are no kids allowed for 6:20 or later showings. Perfect! Eating in the dark takes a little practice, but a small price to pay for a decent meal with your movie.

This is a great neighborhood date night spot. If you’ve never been to Northern Lights, this is the way it works: You walk in, buy your tickets and your food/​drinks at the counter. You proceed into one of two theaters with a plastic number, set it in a place where the servers can see it, sit back and enjoy. As the movie starts, the servers make unobtrusive trips between the kitchen and the theater, delivering entrees at the beginning of the movie and desserts halfway through. With movies at 3.00 and most entrees around 8.95, this is a sweet deal. What I like most about it is that the vibe is way better than some local dollar theaters. I attribute this to kids-​free viewings. The family-​friendly flicks are available during the day, and then after 6pm it’s adults-​only. This is probably my favorite thing about this theater, after the great food, alcohol, and the fact that it’s a cheap date that doesn’t feel cheap.

Such a GREAT idea! Dinner, drinks, dessert delivered to you during your movie! I’m an efficient person and on limited time (babysitter) this is the way to go! You order your food at the counter and then go to your movie. When your food is done they deliver it right to you. There are long tables in front of the chairs. The food was good, the dessert was better, and the concept was the best.

We’re regulars here because you can’t beat a $ 3 movie! Their food is great too — I highly recommend the nachos! It’s a great place for a date night because you can get dinner, a movie, and drinks for under $ 20. Plus, if you go to an evening showing, kids are not allowed which I think it great! The establishment is clean, and the staff has always been friendly. The also offer punch cards! I can’t say enough good things about this place.

The staff was very friendly and seemed genuinely glad to help. Very clean throughout and a nice atmosphere too. I will be back and may become a regular.
