My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing! The Mermaid room was beautiful with a great porch for relaxing. I was first drawn to the Sandbar because of it’s positive dog-friendly reviews, and it did not disappoint. Our dog was treated wonderfully by the staff and we loved having visits from Princess as well. The location right off the beach was perfect for taking dog walks whenever we wanted. The breakfast in the mornings was fantastic and I loved the wine & cheese in the evenings. I had worried that a B&B can sometimes lack privacy but we felt totally at home but also like we could ask questions if need be. My only complaint was that the construction across the street started very early in the morning and made it difficult to sleep in some mornings(but by the look of the construction stage, it should be over soon). We will definitely return on our next visit to the Outer Banks!

+ Very relaxed atmosphere. We were greeted by Mike the Innkeeper and beautiful dog Princess who loves to lounge around the house. + + Everything is accessible, just like your house including a frig, washer/dryer, microwave, pancake maker, snacks, wine, beach towels, sun lotions, hammocks, grill, pool, soda, juice, water, etc. + There are 2 parking lots for guests and the beach is right across the street. — Nearby, walkable restaurants, snack parlors and bars but nothing too interesting. + Close driving distance to good restaurants, Mateo and other site seeing landmarks. — Breakfast at the B n B was just ok. Instant grits and oatmeal. Yoguart, etc. Took some pop tarts and granola bars for our day excursions but no hot food. — Files that bite were over the food and in the rooms. + Happy hour wine. — Flies over stale crackers, cheese and olives :( + Dog friendly. — - Dirty white towels and rusty décor made the experience kinda creepy. I refused to touch the carpet with my bare feet. My towel and face cloth had stains, reminding me how many ppl used it before me. I’m glad I brought my own. We spent the night before in a Comfort Inn in Virginia Beach and the towels and breakfast were better. For our first family trip to the OBX our stay was a nice experience. I’d look for a hotel next time though.
