I wish Unilocal had a negative star rating. This trailer had the very worse staff running this place. They were very rude in responding to my questions. I’m an experienced diver and have dove all over the world. There prices are too high. I know it s the OBX and things cost more, but not as much as this. We were going to book 2 days of diving for four people. We walked out because of the staff… Luckily we found a dive shop in Manteo. We had the complete opposite experience at that place! Newer equipment for the people that wanted to rent and a ton of spear fishing gear(walls)!!! Don’t waste your time or money at the outer banks dive shop in nags head. Go a little bit farther to Manteo!!!

AVOIDATALLCOSTS! Watch the video of an interaction with them on youtube, titled/look for«How not to do customer service: Outer Banks Dive Center», where they curse and argue. This place is absolutely horrible and I don’t know how they stay in business. When I first went into the shop, I waited for a few minutes while two of the store employees talked in detail to one another about how they would never dress to impress a woman, how one would rather just buy an escort, and other derogatory things. Finally I was helped to reserve a beach dive for the next day because their charter boat was not available… But first impression was that they are totally unprofessional. The dive equipment is old. Like really old. They don’t carry much in their little shack anyway, but what they have is very basic. I still purchased an underwater case for items for the dive the next day. So my second visit was the following day, after they cancelled my dive that morning, I went back to return what I purchased the previous day but did not even open, since my dive was cancelled. The guy was vacuuming the floor with the lights off when I got there and he just said«what?» As I walked in… Then I said that i’d like to make a return. He immediately became very defensive and asked why. I told him because I wanted to as the dive was cancelled. He then went on and on about how it would cost them money and why he didnt want to return it. He then called the owner to ask. Apparently the owner and these guys have nothing better to do than to spend time on a $ 70 return, and the 3 percent credit card fee is worth more to these geniuses than a happy customer. The owner said that they would take a refund, but that they would apply a 25 pct«restocking fee», which I could do by simply placing the unopened item back on the shelf. The employee asked me again why I was returning it. I said Because my dive was cancelled and so I no longer wanted it. He then interrupted me by sternly shouting«bullshit.» I told him it wasn’t bullshit, they cancelled my dive. I couldn’t believe he would argue and talk this way to a customer, especially as a business owner myself. If I were the owner, i’d fire this loser, but i’ve learned that the employees are usually representative of their leadership. This guy clearly has issues and was on a power trip. This is all on video on youtube, watch the rest from there. After the video he followed me on my way out yelling at me, and telling me not to come back… as if I would. Not much more needs to be said, just don’t go here. Don’t support these chauvinist pigs and low lifes, but most importantly don’t waste your time. Just read all the other reviews on here.

They are unorganized and unprofessional. We contacted them months in advance asking them if they did any good beginner dives(as we are fresh out of class) and they said yes. Once we got on the boat we found out that none of the dives that they do are good for beginners and that they lied to us. We also booked a guide because we are not comfortable going on our own yet, and even double checked with them the day before. Yet when we showed up to the boat they had no idea that we had booked a guide and the guy was rude and said he knew nothing about it and said that there was no guide, but he «guesses» that he could do it. They had 17 divers on the boat, but it was WAY too small for that many people. They did not have enough seats for everyone and the deck was over crowded and people were tripping all over each other. We were never able to get in the water, and they still charged us full price for everything. I would never ever do any business with them again.

Rude, insulting, and terrible. This is a terrible shop. After booking a trip I got a concussion and was unable to dive. There was still a week left before the planned trip, and so I tried to call and see if the shop would work with me, either rearranging the trip or refunding some of my money(they make you pay in advance). I called multiple times a day over the course of the week trying to talk to someone. After getting the run around with the whole shop for a week, and being called rude(apparently calling repeatedly was rude, but not being called back was not rude) and other names by the staff the owner finally called me back. During the course of our conversation he told me that I was rude, that I was«threatening» him by informing him that while I was looking for a regular OBX dive shop, my disappointing interactions with the staff made me unlikely to dive with them again, and implied that he had recorded all of my calls. He also told me that he was only interested in my money, by saying that I should feel for him because with my concussion he was not going to get the money from the rental gear I would have rented! They were completely unwilling to help me in any way and made if perfectly clear all he cared about was taking my money(which he claimed was a «safety» issue). I learned later that they’d overbooked the boat anyway! This is a truly terrible shop who seems to care more about cheating their customers than actually diving. Never dive with them unless you like the feeling of people ripping you off and sneering at you.
