Fantastic dining experience. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. Very curtiuos and knowledgeable of the food being served and the proper cooking temperature. We all had a wonderful time.

Very disappointed in this place after hearing such great things. Service and atmosphere was nice, but the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the stuffed shrimp and the shrimp was tough and tasteless. I ended up just scraping out the crab and eating that. It was okay but certainly not worth the price. My husband got a platter that included chicken, tuna, and steak. The meats were well cooked, but under seasoned and none had any type of complimentary sauce. Again, just okay. With all the phenomenal seafood in the area we will not be returning on future OBX trips!

Service was awesome! April is a top notch server! Food was pretty good. The draw here is the seafood is all locally sourced — not shipped in frozen from somewhere else. One can even bring their own«catch of the day» and the kitchen will prepare it for them. Atmosphere is inviting, very much game/fish oriented with knotty pine everywhere. Great view no matter where one is seated. Fried Flounder was good(not great), sides(slaw and redskin potatoes) were terrific, fried green tomatoes were terrific, my teenager complained that her burger, which was done medium, was too juicy(really? How is a burger too juicy?) Crabcake was very good and the key lime cheesecake was also terrific! Seemed a bit pricier than what Unilocal advertises, though.

Service was great. I had the jumbo lump crab stuffed shrimp. Key lime pie is very good. The food is all local and they grow a garden in which they grow most of the food you eat

I have eaten here three times-once every time we came to the OBX. This time was sadly under par. The infused peach martini had little to no alcohol and tasted like watered-down juice. The server had an attitude with us until the very end. The broiled seafood platter was good, but not worth the price. The appetizers were the best part. The crab dip and the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and pepper jelly were the best part of the meal. Probably won’t be back for a while.

Out of all of the restaurants we visited during our stay in Nags Head this was by far our favorite. Décor was dated but the food was terrific. I had the blackened sheepshead fish which was delicious.

We will often travel nearly three hours just to lunch at The Lone Cedar. We usually go for Sunday lunch since we are only at the beach for the day. We have also visited on holidays like Father’s Day and Thanksgiving. We have NEVER been disappointed! Whether dining from the menu or eating from the holiday buffet our food and service is always outstanding. On our last visit we celebrated my father’s 94th birthday(this is the only place he wanted to go too) and they treated him like a king. I called ahead and the chef even prepared and decorated a special birthday cake. My Dad has some favorite items that they will prepare for him even though it’s not on the menu that day. This is our favorite restaurant on the Outer Banks!

Have been a long time customer of the Lone Cedar. Went there for Sunday brunch on 6÷5÷2016. They were about 2⁄3 full. We were seated and waited. Another group was seated and then the waitress came and waited on them first. Finally placed our order. I got the local fried shrimp which I often get. Again we waited while other groups arrived after us and got their food. Finally got the shrimp. They were over cooked. Nice size but tough and dry. Normally Basnights shrimp are so tasty that I eat them with just a little lemon. Well we finished our meal and waited for our check. And waited and waited. I finally got up and asked for the check. Seems like the two servers did not know which one was serving us. When we left I looked around and saw only two people that were familiar working. They seem to have a whole new staff and they are not doing so good. I guess my chief complaint all things considered was the cook. Should have known how to fry shrimp.

This place was so good! I got their she crab soup and it’s the best I’ve ever had and at the recommendation of our awesome waiter I got the crab stuffed soft shell crab and it’s seriously one of the best meals I’ve ever had! It’s seasonal and if you ever have a chance to try it– I highly recommend that you do! The restaurant itself is big with awesome views all around. Next time I’m in the Outer banks I will definitely be coming back to this place!

Terrific, fresh seafood and veggies! Waitstaff is attentive. Loved to walk around outside and see what’s growing in their garden.

Had dinner there tonight– service and food were not good at all. I’m been here several times before and it was always pretty good. They had a banquet for 50 plus people and there was mass confusion at the hostess stand. When we got seated the waiter never told us about the special– it took forever to get a coke and beer. Our apps came out quick, but the entrees were slow and not prepared as requested. My pasta had peppers and asked for no peppers. The hamburger was well done, not medium as requested. Our sever was pretty much non existent. Overall not impressed

Just had dinner in the«off season» and this place is open and serving seasonal FRESH everything. The menu includes who caught the fish on the menu, AND who grew the fresh veggies. The appetizers are huge and delicious, and the wedge salad was the best I’ve ever had. If you are going to order an entrée, I would suggest skipping appetizers and salads. This place serves huge dinners. The wine list is as good as it gets, and they store the wine at correct temperatures in the cellar. Three of us had dinner and all of us were happy. Nuf said!

Great local favorite. We skipped the available outside seating which overlooks the sound since we had a baby but we were quickly seated at a window where we viewed a resident osprey perched on an old tree. The menu offered local seafood. Check back often since they serve whatever is fresh. The service was quick and the tea was sweet. Highly recommended.

It is a tradition for us to visit Basnight’s at least once when we are in OBX each year. Typically we are there twice as we just can’t get enough. Even though we typically stay in Duck, we will make the trek and it is worth it every single time. The food is exceptional and the fact that it is fresh caught makes it all the better and we love that so many of the herbs and vegetables are grown right on site as well. Finally, don’t miss out on the Peanut Butter Pie! We always check ahead of time to ensure that they have some and ask them to hold two pieces for us so they are there when we finish dinner. One year we even bought a whole pie to keep with us for the week. It’s that good. I am sure the other desserts are great too but I have never wanted to miss out on the PB pie so I haven’t tried them! This is worth it every single time!!!

Our first night on our first visit to Nags Head and we ended up here for dinner. We had the shecrab soup that was delicious! It was super hot and full of crab. I had the broiled combo of shrimp, scallops and the daily catch(flounder). It came with mix of winter vegetables and scalloped potatoes. All of it was perfectly prepared, hot and delicious. My husband has had a hard time finding things that taste good to him for the last several months. He was treated to a dinner he loved! He ordered the fried scallops that came with a crabcake with grits. It also came with the winter vegetable mix. He didn’t think he would eat the crabcake but he tasted it and couldn’t quit eating it. The scallops were cooked perfectl and delicious. Our 1st meal on the island will be hard to surpass but we’re looking forward to finding out.

Yes, yes, yes. Definitely one of the better places in Nags Head. They have a nice waterfront view and the the people were very friendly. Solid food and very generous portions made it a terrific meal. I wish more restaurants in the Outer Banks could do good food. One negative… The«homemade» Mac and cheese was pretty bad. Not so comforting and overwhelmingly garlicky. I think they may be spread a little thin on staff, because our server was not around as much as I would have liked(empty drinks). But when she was around, she was very nice. I wish I had discovered them years ago. This restaurant definitely goes into our beach rotation!

Great meal with my family. We came here around 5:30 before going to 4th of July Fireworks and had no wait. I got the crab cakes and the rest of my family got the shrimp and grits. We also got bowls of the crab soup. We loved it all! Their menu is really cool because each menu item tells you who caught the fish or grew the vegetable. They also have a vegetable and herb garden down below. Besides being able to see water on each side of the restaurant, the waiters were engaging and helpful. We happened to walk in right as it started pouring and we got soaked! The manager brought us towels to dry off with. Overall, we had a great experience at Basnight’s.
