I was an employee for a year and I have been a patron for way longer. Best sushi in NAc. BYOB. They no longer have a hibachi chef, so if you’re looking for a show you won’t find it here. Lunch specials are well worth the lunch rush wait times.

I love Nijiya and have no complaints at all. Salads are excellent, and I tend to order the less spicy options – California Roll. Take out is my choice. Staff and chef(s) very friendly to all. I recommend this restaurant to everyone interested in something new and different! My son from LA really likes it, too. He prefers spicy sushi and soup.

Best sushi you will find in Nacogdoches … Doesn’t mean that it’s top notch. Just better than the other selections(which isn’t much). It allows customers to BYOB So that’s nice.

A good stop while traveling through. Thanks Unilocal for the tip! Lunch special runs through 3PM. Luck is we arrived at 2:50 ;-) Amazingly busy for 3PM. My favorite we got was the crab roll I think. Crab, avocado and rice — I’m pretty basic. But my sushi loving friend seemed to be pleased as well. A lot of food for $ 30 — I think 4 rolls 2 soups and a hibachi chicken meal… Nice & clean restrooms too.

I ordered sushi to go, without looking at a menu however i did grab one on the way out. I didn’t notice a hibachi room, although it may have been in the back. I have food allergies so I’m always hesitant at a restaurant however the woman that took my order was extremely helpful. She even asked me if sesame seeds were ok. I’m a gluten free, soy free, vegan. Let me tell you how difficult it is to travel! With my job I’m always in small towns and this is the best sushi I’ve had in east Texas. The rolls were quite big too! Needless to say there was plenty of vegetables and avocado and everything tasted extremely fresh. I will most likely eat here again before I leave town. For those that can eat everything… lucky you! Their menu consists of every«basic» type of sushi you see on other menus and more. They have soup, salad, appetizers and entrees to include chicken, beef, shrimp and tofu either teriyaki or tempura style. There are also a few others and even a small kids menu. They have lunch specials as well. I’ll post pictures of the menu since they don’t have a website. Hours are Monday from 3 – 9:30pm, Tuesday-Thursday 11am-9:30pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-10:30pm. Enjoy!

Love their sushi, and selection. Menu can be a little confusing cause it’s not completely descriptive, but it’s a repeat restaurant. Go in for their $ 8 deal during lunch to get 2 sushi rolls and soup before 3pm!

This is by far the best sushi in Nacogdoches. It’s a lovely place to come eat, and it’s also great for takeout. The staff is friendly and the food is quick.

I love Nijiya, they are always polite and they great service. The fried rice is amazing with toasted sesame seeds on top, my favorite is the dragon roll. I go at least once every three weeks, in fact I am going tomorrow for lunch.

Restaurant was clean and waitress was attentive and nice. I ordered the flying sushi rolls and mixed shrimp tempura appitizers. The sushi was good. The tempura was very heavy doughy. I will not order that again. My kids liked the California rolls, but the chicken teriyaki was slightly bland and dry. Asked waitress about the tempura. She said that is how her east Texas clientele preferred it. They like their food fried and heavily breaded.

My husband and I love this place! They closed the hibachi part of the restaurant, but the food is still amazing. We order off of the hibachi menu and always have food left on our plates. I’m no sushi expert, but theirs is the best!

The sushi was good. Not complaining. What I did find odd was how warm my spicy tuna roll was. They do not have alcohol but do have byob so good thing to know before going if you want to drink with your sushi. If I am ever in Nacogdoches again, I just might stop there again.

Nijiya is officially my favorite Asian restaurant in Nac. They are a TINY bit more expensive than Asian City, but it is definitely worth the couple extra bucks. My roommate is pretty bummed that they do not serve alcohol(he likes to have beer or sake with his sushi), but I hear they allow BYOB. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. I 100% recommend this place.

Great sushi and fried rice for a small town. Reasonable prices. Especially during lunch as well.

I would definitely recommend this place for sushi; great prices and big portion sizes. I would give the sushi 5 stars. The hibachi was OK, I would give it 3 stars.

I love Nijiya. The place is very nice so I don’t feel weird if I dress up a bit. Their shrimp tempura appetizers are to die for and their sushi rolls are great. They have a hibachi section in the back if you prefer to see them prepare, cook and all. The staff is very friendly and nice too.

Been working in the area for a while now so I figured I would give this place a try. It was OK, I guess I am spoiled by my easy access to Houston sushi back home. The service was very friendly and efficient. They serve both sushi and hibachi, and have the restaurant seating divided for the two. The food was OK. I had sushi, a green salad, and a soft-shelled crab roll. The sushi was fresh, the roll was good, but nothing stellar. The salad had a watery, bland ginger dressing and was the worst part of the meal. I dunno, the food just isn’t as good as I am used to. Nothing bad, but nothing great either. It looked like the vast majority of customers have rolls, I was the only person with sushi or sashimi. Since the dining options in Nac are limited, I will probably be back.

This is a reincarnation of Sushi Ya — now located in a strip mall. They have a pleasant space — very comfortable with a large sushi bar. The service is friendly and speedy. I tried several things — miso soup, spicy tuna roll, and a vegetable tempura roll. All were good — not exceptional, but definitely better than average. I’m happy to find a place like this in east Texas. I’m looking forward to trying out more of the menu items next time I travel to Nacogdoches.
