Reviews could be deceptive. If you have a taste for ‘Authentic’ Indian food this is not a place for you. This place is only good for those people who have no clue what is Indian food like and for those who do not care if ‘Chicken Kadai’ tastes like sweet Chicken Manchurian. Small place, mediocre service, poor taste. They couldn’t even get the basic dishes like ‘Chili Chicken’ right. They have the grocery and kitchen and hence they make food, since they are from India it happens to be Indian food. The reviews are like you get the first place in running race no matter how slow you run if you are the only one in the race. I see many Indians visiting this place during Tulip Time etc. bcoz this is the only one they found in google. do yourself a favor go to Qdoba. No disrespect to those who gave this place good review; but this is not real good Indian food.

This could probably be my worst rating for a restaurant. On my way to this restaurant, I called them to place a to-go order. They picked the call after 3 attempts and they asked me to be on hold for a minute, to note down the order. They never responded back and by the time I reached restaurant, it was 20 mins on call. I went in and I understood they are busy. When I said that you kept me on hold for 20 mins stating a minute. Instead of apologizing on forgetting about the call, he was saying they are busy. Firstly, if you are busy you should not pick the call. Okay, if you pick the call you should take care of the customer or you can say that you are not taking to-go orders. Secondly, if you miss the customer call keeping on hold, you can at least apologize for missing the call. They seem so reckless towards customers(if not all, at least me). I thought of dining in the restaurant if they could have spoken well. After all, people would love to eat at places where they are treated well. Even if the food tastes average. Hope this review helps them to improve their treatment towards people. Sorry about this review…

I am a local, and this was my first exposure to Indian food. I have now given them enough of my money to say that it is our go-to restaurant. As others have mentioned, sometimes the service has been slow in the past, especially lunch. I don’t generally enjoy the buffet as it feels like milder, less flavorful versions of the menu. It is, however, a nice way to get your feet wet with curry. As for the menu food, it is amazing. Heat levels are 1 through 5, and a 2 will be perfect for most people. Dishes we love include: Butter Chicken(great for curry newbies), Mango Chicken Curry, Vindaloo, Tikka Masala, and Rogan Josh. All the breads are good, but cheese Naan is our favorite. My wife enjoys briyani as well, though that’s not my cup of tea. Recently(late 2015 and on) there has been a noticeable decline in the quality of the food and a lot of the dishes trended toward more bland. They are still delicious, just not quite as amazing.

Amazing Indian dishes. Flavorful, served in lovely brass dishes. Mr. Tom is a gem. The papadum(lentil flour bread with white pepper) was so amazing, we took some extra home. They have a full bar service as well. Amazing!

Authentic Indian food. Welcoming environment & staff. Water was served in cute silver cups. Warm flatbread was remarkable. Menu not needed after checking out the buffet. Wonderful selection of curries, chicken & goat. Delicious homemade relish & sauces… topped off with a cup of rice pudding. Definitely will return when in the area. Excellent!

Server was very nice and the food came out pretty quick despite being busy. Very inexpensive for all the food they give. Would come here again.

3 rating for food — 1 for behavior = 2 The server i think the owner itself doesnt know how to greet or talk to customer. He took order like he is giving it for free. Very unprofessional. We ordered Muglai Chicken, but got horrible mango chicken. naan, chicken 65, chicken tikka, chicken biriyani were ok. If you really want to eat Indian food, then you dont have any other option. So you have to go here, so he dont care about anything i guess.

It was very good, fresh hot food, fast service & reasonably priced. Definitely will be back. We ordered the chicken with spinach & the onion kulcha. Both were excellent! It was a busy Friday night so I flagged down the older guys & ordered from them. The waitress said they were Really Busy & generally seemed overwhelmed. But the gentlemen served us very quickly..

The restaurant was not very busy when we walked in. Weren’t greeted by anyone. Someone finally waved us over to a table where we sat for 15 minutes without getting served or greeted in the least so we just had to leave. Gotta step up the front of the house service.

Went here for the first time last night. Really charming place. The food was very good and the servers were very friendly/helpful. I’d love to go back and try other dishes. Being from CA, it was a treat to have Indian food like my friends back home make!

Service is very slow for not a very busy restaurant. Waited 20 minutes for menus and water. And when we did get our menus they only brought one menu. A table next to us gave us their menus. Water refills were rare. The food was good when it came out. They just need to work on their customer service. If you come here for dinner expect to do half of the work the server does and be patient because it took about an hour and a half for the entire dinner experience.

Never had Indian food until this place as I stopped in on my honeymoon. It was great and the service was very friendly. For me though the food seemed mild at the level 4⁄5 spice, but I do have a high spice tolerance. Try it if you are looking for a good meal.

I’ve eaten twice recently @ Curry Kitchen. Both times with clients who wanted to go there. Although Indian food is not my personal favorite, the Curry Kitchen does a great job with food quality, seating, and table service. We had the lunch buffet and everything is made fresh and you don’t have to scrape the serving tray in oder to get some for your plate. The people who work there are exceedingly courteous, and their table service is attentive.

We are from California and were visiting family in Muskegon so we were excited to go to an Indian restaurant for dinner. We didn’t think that there was Indian food in Muskegon! We are very familiar with Indian food, having had many good home cooked meals with Indian friends. We started with the samosas and naan, which were very tasty. Our main dishes were butter chicken, lamb briyani, chicken Kashmiri tikka, and lamb roganjosh. Our spice order ranged from 3 – 5 which turned out perfect for our taste buds. The amount of spice stayed true to the order-3 was manageable heat and 5 was perfect for my husband, who loves spicy food. The food was amazing! The ingredients were all good quality and the flavors were on point to a home cooked Indian meal. We came to Muskegon to find some of the best Indian food we have ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely come back next time we visit.

I went on a Wednesday evening. They were a little overwhelmed — 22 people came to eat but only two wait staff. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes to have my order taken, and about 40 minutes more for the food to arrive. That’s the main reason I dropped it to three stars. I had Chicken Vidaloo — a great main course, and a garlic naan bread to go along with it. The chicken was good, but it was not as spicy as I expected. I ordered it at a 3 scale– next time I’ll ask for a 4 or. 5. The chicken and the naan were good. I also had a mango Lassi, which was less than stellar. Not sure why but the Lassi was only fair. It was a very good value, but I have had better. For Muskegon, I’ll say it was very good. I think the atmosphere was the best part. Enjoy.

Having only had the opportunity to enjoy the Saturday buffet at Curry Kitchen, this review will be based solely on it, as in no reviews from the menu. Buffet hours are Monday-Saturday 11am-3pm and Sunday 12pm-3pm. There is not a flavor, an aroma or a color that is not represented in the abundant, spread of foods, sauces(mint/curries/mustard’s/mango) and other accompaniments offered at Curry kitchen’s weekend buffet. Growing up in an ethnic neighborhood in NYC, Indian food was very common, the typical meats such as lamb or goat I grew accustomed to, are not served at Curry Kitchen’s buffet. However the Paneer dishes, fried vegetables, tandoori chicken, tiki masala & additional Indian entrees served up hot in their Chafers dishes, clearly make up for the lack of a fore mentioned meats. Curry Kitchen advertise on the hockey boards of the L.C. Walker arena which houses the Muskegon Lumberjacks hockey team. I think that point is worthy of mentioning, as ethnic restaurants generally are not as supportive of local sports, in part due to their size and lack of marketing budget. So support the Curry Kitchen as they have committed to Muskegon’s Downtown revival and future growth. Excellent service and an extremely friendly, sincere and genuine owner who is always on site to thank you for your patronage. Also find them on Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare for updates. Stick to the water; don’t order any beverages off the menu. My Buffet TIP: Scan the buffet area and commit all the dishes to a quick memory, pick your area of concentration and DIGIN!
