While visiting the fantastic Italian restaurant next door to Lopez market we alway notice a lot of traffic in and out of Lopez market. We thought this might be a great spot to pick up our Hispanic food staples like the small markets back in LA. I happened to be in the area yesterday and needed some corn tortillas, some fresh peppers and avocado so I popped it. Looks aren’t everything, so I did not base my opinion on the store which had some caution tape wrapped around the front half of the store. I made my way to the«produce» section and couldn’t believe how old and sad the wrinkly peppers looked… all of them. I grabbed the least dehydrated looking one I could find and grabbed the least mushy avocado from the bin of 4 avocados. I walked around to the back and the guy at the counter was on the phone and yelling back and forth with the guys behind the meat counter. I stopped to look at the fresh salsas behind the counter to purchase one but the guys behind the counter never acknowledged me. I grabbed some corn tortillas and went to check out and had to make some noise for the cashier to see me because the counter was taped off and he was still on the phone. I’m not sure why this place seems so busy when I go by there, maybe their meat is really good… but I would not go back to this place at all.

Store illegally charges a debit/credit processing fee. It was ruled in 2013 that it violated anti trust laws for these stores to charge this, but they do anyways. Cashier was also a jerk and didn’t notify us of a 50 cent fee so either way it was illegal. Great job. Me nor anyone I know will ever go to this place based on the illegal money schemes being pulled by this. Complaint will be filed.

Best Carne asada in the area. Price is same as everywhere else but it’s better than everywhere else. I buy it at least once a week. $ 5.99/lb. It’s so amazing. Try it once and it will become part of ur life.

Great carne asada. Low prices and nice staff. Lopez Market established its roots in 1954 the first store opened in Escondido, CA on 201 S. Pine Street in Escondido, California. Since then Lopez Market has become a staple in Escondido and now in Temecula, California. Although the original store is no longer there but the names lives on in a new store on El Norte Parkway in Escondido. The second store is located in Temecula, California Front Street in Old Town.

Best marinated meats around! Super cheap! as for all the other mexican flair around, i have NOIDEA what that stuff is, i just go right to the back of the store and order pounds and pounds of chicken, pork and carne asada meat. They hold great in the fridge and i cook it all week! Great stuff! they even have fresh produce in there too… great mexican shop! wish i spoke spanish… pooo :(

If you’re looking for a store with a broad selection of non-alcoholic beverages, then Lopez Market is not for you. If you’re looking for essential fruits, veggies, and butchered meat, then Lopez Market is definitely for you. Nestled comfortably between a bike shop and a pizzeria, Lopez Market has made a niche with the Hispanic community of Murrieta. Cardenas or El Tapatio aren’t anywhere to be found, so maybe instead of carrying Snapple, Lopez has elected to carry Horchata to satisfy the cravings of their primary customer base. The next time I get a hankering for some fried pig’s ears I’ll know where to go. Or maybe I can pick up some pre-mixed carne asada and broil it in the lunch room toaster oven. That’s an idea! But seriously, many of the food and beverage options in this store may be unrecognizable to you, if you’re not of Hispanic descent. Viva la Mexico…
